Absolutely. I got trolled on my blog about that very point. I spoke about using sugar in my coffee, not adding it to anything else, not baking or making puddings. It was pointed out to me that I buy four muffins. Sick troll called me a hypocrite.

Hi ilona I love food haul You did very well I spend between 80 to 100 a month at aldi this is for my husband and myself plus I feed my daughter and 12 year old grandson 3 times a week and at the moment I'm feeding my grandson all his lunches I cook everything from scratch and do all my own cakes etc It's like a full time job but I love being frugal Take care big hugs to the cats xx
Hi Ilona. Just finished my 3 day stew!... I learned that from you along with many more of your tips and ideas. . I've enjoyed seeing what you buy to eat. Your self discipline is amazing. Fancy being able to cut a cake in half and only eat one bit. Wow! . Impressed! Hope you enjoyed your dog walk. Xx
Hello Liz. It takes a lot of willpower to cut the naughty treats in half, but with practice I am finding it gets easier. The packs of four become eight treats, and my sweet tooth is becoming less sweet.
Greetings from New Zealand Ilona. I've only discovered you recently (someone on Frugal Jo's channel recommended you) and I'm really enjoying your positivity and humour. You are an absolute ray of sunshine😁😁😁
Your shop is so similar to mine. All the seeds etc. Along with you walking, this is how you have stayed so slim and fit. I have said for years, you are what you eat! So pleased you allow yourself a little treat along with all you healthy foods. Take care. X
I stopped buying peanut butter for a while. It became very expensive, and the cheaper ones were horrible. Then I spotted the 100% nuts and thought I would give it a try. They make it smooth or crunchy.
£20 a week is not bad going for a frugal life. I do the same but I need to ensure the wildbirds get some food so they get £3 out of that.. I do buy flour a lot so I can make more things. i make my own pizza bases which is cheap and just use fresh toppings and keep some olives and capers that last ages for them. I managed to get a Veggie Haggis from Lidl for 20p a few days after Burns Night., gave some to my relatives next door, You have a nice neighbour who gives you spare food. Some of us can't get through all the food so I like giving some spare food to the neighbours, well the nice ones
Hurrah for Aldi! I have one about a mile away. I go early morning or late and feel very COVID safe. Good for you cutting your muffins in half. I will look for that almond butter when I go next. Thanks for sharing.
You have done well. I converted the prices to Aussie dollars and your food is so much cheaper than what we pay for Aldi. Keep safe and well Ilona and enjoy your naughty items😊
Another Aussie here, and I agree with you Angel Heart. Aldi is the least expensive supermarket where I live, but the prices in the UK Aldi are so much better. Thank you, Ilona, for showing what you bought. I like how you think about things. Best wishes 🇦🇺💐💐🙋♀️

I separate a loaf of bread into 4 slices each and put each little stack into a small bag. Then I put those bags into a larger bag and freeze the large bag. The bread is delicious thawed and stays fresher than putting it in the refrigerator. Diane in NC
When I open a loaf of bread, I often will put half the bag in the freezer keeping the other half in a separate bag in the cupboard. That way it stays as fresh as possible for as long as possible.
Thank you Susan. I try and mix it up a bit, you get some house matters, food, arts and crafts, walking, going out, and exercise videos. I also have a blog. www.meanqueen-lifeaftermoney.blogspot.com . Best wishes. ilona
I get all my shopping at Aldi its fab place to shop i get herbal teas there and my veggie food and friendly staff what more do you want oh the porridge organic is yummy . Great video
We have a relatively small Aldi in my town and i love it. Agree with you it is definitely cheaper than tesco, and i even managed to grab myself a couple of mega bargains when i was there last night- result!
You’ve got a lovely selection there, I’m the same with food now, as we get older we don’t need such big portions, I can fully understand you eating half a cake at a time, I feel they lie heavy if I eat a full one myself, so half with a tea or coffee and the other half later on, it’s a good excuse for another drink,
I sometimes visualize what a whole muffin would look like all chewed up and mixed with saliva as it makes it's way down my throat and into my stomach. It would swell up and cause a blockage, leading to a very unpleasant bunged up feeling. Much kinder to eat only half.
Thank you For sharing the prices of everything you bought. I am from Singapore, and everything you showed will cost at least two to four times what you paid. I am just shocked by how cheap everything is in the UK. It is so easy to eat well and happily on so little money.
People are complaining that the cost of living is going up, but compared to the rest of the world, I think it's ok. The problem is that people don't know how to make a simple meal out of simple ingredients. They want to buy ready meals and takeaways. ilona
Thankfully will be finishing a sweet potato and mustard mash I made 7 days ago, I keep it in the fridge and reheat it in the oven every evening... totally sick of it now, but cannot /will not throw out good food! Thanks for all your inspiration Mean Queen🌷🌷🌷
That happens to me sometimes. I freeze several portions of stew and by the time I get to the end of them I really don't want to eat it. But I do because it cost me money.
Everything looks delicious. And I think for everything you have including the couple kitty treats you did a great job for the 65 . Thanks so much for sharing. You make things such fun 😊😊
I don't really like shopping very much. I used to linger when I was searching for best price bargains, get excited with my yellow sticker haul, but all that has changed now. It is no longer a leisure activity, now it's a military operation.
Hi Ilona, thanks for doing this shopping haul. Your prices are so much lower than ours here in Northern California. We don't have Aldi's (our grocery unions do their best to keep the stores with lower prices from opening here), but Aldi's is in other areas of America. We also don't have yellow stickers reducing foods in the evening. Our stores give all the products they want to get rid of to local food banks. Nancy from Northern California
The nut butters look really good value Ilona - and the chia and pumpkin seeds too. They would cost so much more in a health food store. I feel quite hungry after watching all this and think it is about time to start making dinner! :)
You have convinced me to try Aldi again , not been for a while !! I went to another store for a food shop today but it was far too busy for our covid situation so i will go back very early tomorrow . Always excellent fresh produce at Aldi
Hi nice haul I love Aldi and Lidl also I find so much more value for money my daughter has 2 little boys so she finds it brilliant for a young family you look really well and live your lifestyle xx
Hi Ilona, great to see your Aldi shopping haul, it was quite a bit different from mine, & I am going to purchase a few of the items that you buy, ie: almond & peanut butter, ect, I would reckon waffles would be a good option for you also as they are quick & easy to grill, also I thought your Stew looked yummy, big hugs to you, your Mother & your Kitty's.
Evening Ilona nice haul there. i think that soft cheese is called Philadelpia/ I love those spicy bean burgers too and the veggie ones. I also like the soya yogourt i bought the blueberry and the vanilla ones. I am vegan so no dairy but i like the red pepper humous and carmelized onion. I sometimes buy vegan style cheese but its expensive. Peanut butter is another favourite i like the no paim oil no added sufer/salt one too as the cheaper ones taste too sweet. i treat the cats too they get aldi sticks treat bags and tuna, Happy cooking and enjoy x I am also shopping more at Aldi their prices are lower than Tesco and the range of foods have improved greatly since their early days here.
Yes, I agree. I wasn't too impressed the first few times that I went, but now they seem to be listening to what customers want. They are introducing new lines all the time.
Ilona hello there , I am a big fan of Aldi too I am amazed at how very similar our shopping hauls are , it’s uncanny with the exception all those seeds you eat and I do eat meat and fish ,we could swap trolleys and barely notice the difference
I loved this video! Seeing what you pay and what you eat is very interesting. I do the same thing with totellini - count them. Sometimes, even if the bag says four servings, I will make five out of it just to stretch it. I freeze them in wee baggies, so I don't have to eat them every day in a row. I'd do the same thing with the chocolate muffins. You eat a lot of seeds - I need to do that too. Aldi is my favorite store...my problem is the chocolate bars...that's my irresistible treat. You did well, my friend! Diane in NC
I find it hard to resist chocolate bars, but it upsets my stomach so I march straight by it on the shelves. I have to grind my seeds in a mini chopper because I am lacking in the back teeth department.
I just love your food shopping blogs and I learn so much. I have found recently that I too, allow myself a treat, but only eat a small portion or eat half of something and it is nice. You get to treat yourself but stay healthy too. I enjoy my treats with a good cup of Earl Grey, or White Tea with Pear or with Coffee my fav!! Yum. I like seeing all that you buy and you got a lot for 65 pounds. You are Awesome Ilona. Thank you for sharing and for brightening my day with your positive cheery self. Hugs!
Hi Ilona Aldi isn’t a shop I usually go to but after your food haul I’m going on Monday. I like lots of things you have bought but pay a lot more for them. Thanks for all your advice looking forward to next video. Mary from the North East
Give it a try. I wasn't too keen on it the first few times I went, they never seemed to have what I wanted. But after trying a few different things it kind of grew on me.
Your stew looks quite yummy, so do the custard tarts. We have an Aldi store here in Lancaster, Ohio. Less expensive than the Kroger grocery store we sometimes shop at. Glad you are well, hi to Masks.❤

Forgot to say, those spicy bean burgers. We had them last week. My son ate mine, way too spicy for me. Lovely and crispy on the outside, just way too hot for my taste. He loved them! X
We don’t have an ALDI on the Isle of Man and we pay more for our food here so I am always shocked how cheap your food is! I like a little trip to ALDI in morecambe when we come across on the boat in summer 😊
@@beaulieuonnp593 there are two boats, one takes about 4 hours and the other takes about 2.45 hours the longer trip is to heysham and the shorter one is to liverpool. Only the heysham boat sails in winter because the “fast craft” isn’t great in rough weather. It’s like tumbling around in a washing machine 🤢🤮 it’s only cheaper if you travel as a foot passenger, taking a car is anything from £250/£350 something like that (return)
Thanks for the boat details. What you need is a crossing that will drop you close to an Aldi so you can go as a foot passenger. A bit like the booze cruises that go to France where the supermarket is close to the docks. I don't suppose people are making that crossing any longer with the restrictions.
Wow 20 pounds a week is so cheap!. Food in the Uk is very cheap compared to other countries though. Sadly, my shopping bill is very expensive, but my teenage son's seem to have hollow legs😂. Which really doesn't help my grocery bill. I like Aldi, but I'm a terrible impulse buyer, so it works out cheaper for me to shop online. I wonder if Aldi prices will increase post Brexit??. I really hope not, I have definitely noticed that groceries have got more expensive since our first lockdown.
I'm binge watching your channel and I can't stop:) My favourite videos are about camping in the car and about bargain shopping. Can I ask if you are still saving money? If yes, you are saving for some specific goal or just for rainy days? I'm new into savings so everything on this topic interests me.
Hello. At this moment in time I am only spending what I need to spend because there aren't any opportunities for buying treats. I don't shop on the internet. I have just paid for my car insurance and I have a utilities bill coming up. Apart from that my money lies in the bank waiting until we can travel again, then I will spend it.
Hello. It used to be 9pm, but they moved it to 10pm. I went at 9pm on Monday and there was no one there except a handful of staff re stocking shelves. Perfect for me.
Why is other peoples shopping so fascinating? I do like Aldi's, they have plenty of choice of what I call real food. I am coeliac and their range is varied and very edible. I don't buy cakes, biscuits or pasta but I do love nuts and seeds and loads of fruit, fresh or frozen. It was interesting to compare the U.K. prices to the Irish ones. Our cost of living is definitely higher Im afraid.
I have heard that it is more expensive to live in Ireland. I like watching Daniel at Mossy Bottom, his smallholding videos where he is slowly becoming more self sufficient.
Yes, everything is a lot more expensive now. But the funny thing is that my spending habits have gone the other way. After years of being careful with my money, I now have more than enough. I can afford to buy anything I like.
Hello Ilona..wonderfull to see you post vidoes again! heres something for you and others here - do you remember 'Scrimpers' with Ray Brookes back in 1994/5? ua-cam.com/video/XNkqpEimhrs/v-deo.html&feature=emb_title
Sorry but you take frugality too far. Making a loaf last for 2 weeks (and cutting the mould off) . You give my mother in law a run for her money (proverbially) and she is the most miserly woman I have ever met. What a joyless existence you must have. I cannot watch any more of your videos, they are depressing!
Great ideas, bit more worried about those plugs tho above the cooker xx

Good video. How often do you buy Toiletries and cleaning products
About once a year.
I just bought 60 oranges for 4.00 and 3 pkgs of sausages for 2.47 each with yellow tags.
Food is more expensive in us. That bag of spinach, I bought yesterday, $2.00. Those small cheese containers are $3.00 ea.
Loved the video ~ what time does your aldi close ours is 8pm here in Queensland Australia
Hello. It used to be 9pm, but they moved it to 10pm. I went at 9pm on Monday and there was no one there except a handful of staff re stocking shelves. Perfect for me.
Even with the exchange rate, your groceries are quite cheap. I feel our groceries are expensive in Australia.
Could you do a video on the kinda portions you have during the day. You are very slim you look like you could eat anything
Go girl😘😅
I can't remember the conversion rate but your prices seem MUCH cheaper than our Adli in America.
Greek style yoghurt good in sweet and savoury dishes
Philadelphia ?
Philadelphia
That's the word I was thinking of. Aldi version is much cheaper.
I like you I think you are very funny🥺🥰🤣
Thank you. I think I am funny as well.
My goodness, I think Lockdown has made you a bit naughty ha ha.... quite a few things on there I wouldn't have expected you to buy....ENJOY xx
A bit naughty is better than being a lot naughty. You won't see me piling on the pounds.
I put my wedges the fryer
I find the prices for food on the UK cheap.
Any good deals on Wine 🍷 ☘😭☘
I don't drink very much and go for the cheap Chardonnay from Australia. £4 a bottle, which lasts 3 - 4 days. I don't look for anything else.
Watching this 3 years later - I bet your food bill has changed now August 2024😮
Yes, everything is a lot more expensive now. But the funny thing is that my spending habits have gone the other way. After years of being careful with my money, I now have more than enough. I can afford to buy anything I like.
👍♥️🙏🕳️🇺🇸
Phildephlia the cheese
75p=1 us$ I'm comparing your prices.
Hello Ilona..wonderfull to see you post vidoes again! heres something for you and others here - do you remember 'Scrimpers' with Ray Brookes back in 1994/5?

Cooking rice from scratch is too much of job??? Omg you lady, living by yourself...
Yes, can't be bothered. I have more important things to do.
Goodbye.
