The Dummoth line is brilliant for two reasons, 1. The concept of going from dumb to enlightened is fantastic. 2. Dummoth basically undergoes reverse evolution, going from a moth to a cocoon to a caterpillar. This is something that we as Pokefans have never seen before or even created before now, I for one would love to see this concept explored further in the Fakemon community.
Honestly, Xeneon is fine. Too many flying eeveelutions have we seen with exaggerated ear wings and the subtlety of Xeneon is very refreshing . Personally im sooooo tired of the ear wings to fly concept. Its not needed. If Doduo and Dodrio can fly without wings, why cant a flying type Eevee?
1:03:57 I think the brachiosaurus this fakemon is maybe upon is also called or nicknamed the thunder lizard also 1:19:30 Reject Moth return to Caterpillar. (It evolves backwards of how it looks)
No ones said it yet, but Munchum is definitely a counterpart to Smoochum. Ice Dark vs. Ice Psychic and Smoochum uses its super sensitive lips to investigate new things! Edit: Watched a little further, and yup the connection with Vladynx and Jynx is super intentional! Wouldn't be surprised if Vladynx was an all male Pokémon to boot!
one day I would like to create a region inspired by the Czech Republic (or a combination of the Czechia and Slovakia) But I'm very new to the pokemon and fakemon fandom, so I don't know enough mechanics and design rules to make it work xD
Normal/Bug is so overlooked as an unused typing and it has SO much potential to be cool - I mean, look at this spider monkey and a previous honey badger fakemon - neither of them bugs, but utilize the typing! I love it!
Personally, I feel that a cool idea for a normal-bug type is one of the bug species that have face markings on it's back combined with the Greek theater masks, being a split evo becoming either a comedy or tragedy actor, hence the normal type
This fakemon region only has one problem that I care about and that's Dhelmise losing the moss since the moss is the actual pokemon the anchor is just something it has similarly to gurdwara having the steel beam
Asclepious is the symbol for Hermes The staff with the twisted snakes The tail of the Pokemon also has the twist On gorgonian, gorgonia is a reference to gorgons but is also a species of coral. So a bit of wordplay there
Sad to say that I was lost on where the starters last evolution were this whole time...I would love it If I could find the pokedex in order but other than that it's nice
25:22 I don't think it's a reference to sharks since they touch things with their nose. But most babies (human, dogs etc.) put things into their mouths to learn more about what they are so I'm pretty sure it's just based on babies
25:23 I was thinking its more a reference to how your teeth can feel hypersensitive (painful!) when you bite something cold! Also-it’s a smoochum counterpart!
Typhoon and Echidna are also the father and mother of monsters in Greek mythology thus matching the patriarch and matriarch theme You know pocket "monsters"
If we will ever get a Greece based region I would really want it to be slightly inspired Percy Jackson having the 12 Olympian gods and another God/titan to represent the gym leaders elite for and champion, the kronus followers as the evil team with their goal to release a pokemon based on kronus to rule over everything, having satire like grover as pokemons that guide the people in the roads, having klarise as a rival, camp half-blood can be the proffesor camp
While i did like the designs, it didn't really feel Mediterranean to me. I've counted about 25 pokemons that do fit but the rest not really I mean, a Kangaroo? in the Mediterranean? at least make it more like a Tesla coil, because Tesla is related to Albania, you know, Mediterranean still, great work, Meddiz Team
I fail to understand why Fakemon regions are held to such a higher standard than the actual games. There are so many mons in the actual games that make no sense to their IRL counterpart. A koala in Hawaii? Pandas in France? A Gorilla in the UK? Fakemon regions are allowed to take liberties sometimes.
@@PragMagik I know, I said that they did great work, but as a Mediterranean myself I feel like they missed out on a lot of potential. I mean, there are 20 countries. Only including 3 with so much history behind the other 17... you can definitely build a pokedex just from the Mediterranean history.
@@PragMagik look up Cadbury's Gorilla advert. Thats why Rillaboom's a thing. But you're not wrong. I think its just kinda poop to have an entire region be based on an entire area of the planet. It means each country gets limited representation, when it deserves more than that. Both Kalos and Gallar are basically only parts of the UK and France rather than the entire country. Never mind an area spanning 3 continents. Itd be like having, instead of Johto, Sinnoh etc, having one region representing all of South East Asia, never mind all of Japan
This Dhelmise would definitely, now that we have them, be convergent. Or something. But not dhelmise. The entire point of Dhelmise is it's the haunted kelp controlling the anchor. Hence the ability granting it steel stab, but not *being* steel type. Unless the argument is the chain is haunted, that's as far off from a Dhelmise as you can get
Exploud is my favorite mon...and I've yet to see an alternate form that makes me smile. Everything else looks good. Arachnape looks like Spider Monkey from Ben 10, so I'd use it lol
I love your region review videos so much but this one I had to rewind because I got so excited about a full odds shiny zubat that I forgot to pause and it played all the way through 😅
Love the kricketune form as well as it's evolution. Munchum is actually adorable. Canisith is elegant and doesn't look overdesigned. Sethunda is the epitome of sleek. I adore the eeveelutions. Particularly Baneon. Kilisk is cute and cool. Then Saurumble is Majestic. The grass starter and its evolutions look fantastic and I love that it remains quadrupedal, I thought it was gonna be the clear cut best starter and then I see the fire type starter which I like just as much, stunning. Goliathorn is great in all three forms.
I made a Pokémon named Icilisk but it was a secondary evo for a regional magikarp I made. Then Icilisk evolves into Gyrados. They were all Ice/Dark. Basilisks are also huge legendary Dragons.
The first and middle stages of the fire starter kinda remind me of Steven Universe. I may be biased because of my love of steel types, but Radiastral is by far the best of the 3 final evolutions imo.
Ya know, it's funny. I'm making my own Fakemon region and it's also based around travel and exploration. I didn't know about this region until this video and I fell somewhat guilty now.
the trio of legendaries are based on 3 beasts from The Twelve Labors of Heracles stymphell is based on the Stymphalian birds, Herymanster on the Erymanthus boar and Skiller on the Lernaean hydra (although it has some inspiration in esila possibly). ok I leave you the comment for those who were curious that I noticed ^^'
Omg. i love radiastral !! Fun fact: the constellation on it's belly is called 'la grande ours' in french, 'ours' means bear. this makes thedesign even better for me ^^ If this was a game radiastral would be my starter.
There is a theory where the fire starters are based on all astronomy consultation since the Chinese zodiac is based in some consultations in the night sky. So using Ursa Major and Ursa Minor as the fire starts here makes sense.
Cool! I’d love to see the Meddiz Region in future Pokémon games (Pokémon Sand and Pokémon Sea) and could be expansions to the Kalos and Paldea regions with the Mediterranean parts of the regions and with more focus on elements of Italy, Greece, and Croatia!
Guys, I'm just asking if a bear is actually a good candidate for a water starter, specifically a grizzly or a polar bear, its cause all the other animals are already taken such as whale, seel even an osprey
Echidna was the mother of all monsters and typhon was her husband who was pretty much a fiery storm so it makes sense that they are the " matriarch and patriarch" of pokemon which are like monsters.
I'm making up my own region(AGAIN) called Sorobora, my first psychic type's last evo(named Zgateus) "potentially knows the secrets of the universe and will make rituals for Pokémon who have lost a friend to see their friend again, no one knows how these Pokémon have these revival powers, and no one might ever know," Zgateus is the Spiritual Link Pokémon, "Zgateus often joins a Pokémon known as Gigantan and will set up a great feast for everyone in the temple where most Gigantan stay, they are very good at cooking and baking despite not having an oven or anything"
I love the concept of Hecatrio, but I would’ve loved if the 3 heads were facing different ways then just stacked on top of eachother, it just looks weird like this
Looking back now that we're getting the Paldea region, set in Spain and Portugal, this is an interesting coincidence. Also find it funny how both this fan region and Paldea have grass cat starters
PragMagik: "I'm pretty sure Lucario is the only Steel/Fighting type."
Cobalion: Am I a joke to you!?
Who? you can't just make Pokemon up
Cobalion? Oh yeah… I forgot about that Pokémon…
I kinda feel sad for Cobalion and Cobalion is a real Pokémon
Yes. Cobalion is a joke.
Cobalion was meh as well as the other swords of justice

I had the same thought
Yeah the "reverse" evolution is just brilliant
@@angelmatesmolan How is that brilliant? That’s not how evolution works, lmfao. That’s the most stupid concept I’ve ever heard of.

Finally some mediterranean representation! Also nice video Brandon keep up the good work

It has still the ear wings, but it isn't the core consept.
Hey! Floofeon's also good!
Where is the evolution to the starters
What it's FLYING type? Based in the thumbnail, I thought Rock type since it looks like marble.
Bruh there are two jittripping
Phantascroll's word is Φρυδι which means eyebrow. It's Greek.

Finally, someone that agrees with having a Pokemon that actually represents the type, not just a form.
1:03:53 The word you seek is Sauropod. Therapods are the T-rexs and stuff

The Chum and Jynx suffixes.
I would love if there was a region based specifically on Croatia or any Slavic country.

The staff with the twisted snakes
The tail of the Pokemon also has the twist

I'm Mediterranean, so I really like this idea! More specifically, I'm Sicilian (sicily) which is a Mediterrisland island!
Sad to say that I was lost on where the starters last evolution were this whole time...I would love it If I could find the pokedex in order but other than that it's nice
They come around at about 1:06:20
Asclepius is actually the greek god of medicine. That is where the "asc" in ascladrius 8:12
The word above the eyes of phantascrol means eyebrow in Greek
That is HILARIOUS
Hey great work on 42K subs! Your channel has hit a breakneck pace and it's not slowing down!
What a coincidence, rumor has it that Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will take place in a region based on the Iberian Peninsula.
The writing on Phantascrol's face is Greek and it says "eyebrow".
38:00 Fun fact: “Viola” in italian, also means purple
25:22 I don't think it's a reference to sharks since they touch things with their nose. But most babies (human, dogs etc.) put things into their mouths to learn more about what they are so I'm pretty sure it's just based on babies

These artists have amazing designs. Game freaks give these artists a chance to work with you when you create new Pokemon.
“What if Gen 9 were based on the Mediterranean”
I mean Spain is part of it
I think Ascladrius has part of its name and concept inspired by Asclepius, son of Apollo and god patron of doctors
The cat grass starter.... Wow they got it in Scarlet and Violet now. Haha
I like how Gen 9 actually ended up being in spain
Typhoon and Echidna are also the father and mother of monsters in Greek mythology thus matching the patriarch and matriarch theme
