Dope! Thanks for uploading this quick walkthrough. I’ve always wondered why my videos on mi DJI Mini 2 weren’t as great looking as other peoples. Now I’m about to go search all my previous trips and start uploading some dope videos from the archives! Lol
Only issue i saw was you rendered it in 4k. When posting reels to IG or Facebook they will compress any videos that you post above 1080 60 and some viewers will be lucky to see it in 480p.. i always record 4k or higher but ill always render it in 1080 60 for social media and it dont get compressed any lower.
Man! This just helped me so much! I always wondered why my quality wasn't as good as others but the tip of sd card reader was what I was missing! Amazing video!!!!!
Man this is awesome. I was always downloading footage via app the phone and it reduces to 1080p. I always thought the quality wasn't the best. Thanks for the tips.
This was really helpful OMG saw sooo many tutorials people importing in keynote and prepare everything there but this is way more easy!!! Thank you for sharing @gadgetdad
Hello, thanks heaps for the Video. I'm just a beginner and bought a brand-new drone, I was worried too much about how to make a vertical video, but you solved my problem. Can you please put a link to the iMovie app? I use Windows 11 Thanks heaps 💓💓
Bro, you can buy an "apple lighting to SD Card camera reader" and still transfer the video from the SD card a lot faster to your Iphone and still keep the High quality. They go for about 28 bucks.
Want to buy my first drone for our trip to Costa Rica this December. still in doubt between the mini 2 and 3 pro because of the vertical shooting. But because of this, there is a solution in the mini 2. Do you still recommend the mini 2 as first drone? 😄 thanks!
Hey I would definitely recommend the mini 2 as a beginner drone and definitely a less expensive option. And yes you can do the same process for pictures as well. Enjoy your trip happy droning
I was flying my mini 2 (first vaca with a drone) over a river in JA earlier in the week and it suddenly refused to move forward towards me, it was doing every other movement just wasn't moving forward, it's as if there was a barrier stopping it. Have you experienced this before? it has kind of knocked my confidence of flying it now, especially over water. I literally had to jump off the raft to retrieve it into some bushes lol
I always shoot in 4K and export in 4K….BUT once Instagram gets a hold of it, it loses quality. Iv experienced this with both mini2 and mini3. Instagrams compression dilutes the quality of the image.
@@Thegadgetdad does that mean you strecth the croped video? If you can, how about compere the same 4K video, both cropped and one render in 4k and the other render in 1080 then upload both vertical video to TT/reels. The let the viewers decide which better 😁 I would love to see that, and it can be promotion to your ig/TT too 😆
Most comprehensive video I’ve ever found, thanks a lot! Quick question : Does Quick Transfer from the drone to the phone results in lower quality? Because you said that in the app the files are cache files, are those 2 different things? I’m sure that Quick Transfer feature can be transferred in 4k. Cheers man👍
What's the point of "vertical video“ when 1) you have to fill the sides in post production, and 2) you can simply mask the sides if you really have to have vertical
The point is to be able to upload to social media in a 9x16 format to use all the the screens real estate. Being that the mini 3 pro offers a vertical mode in camera this video is to show that you can also obtain vertical video with the mini 2.
@@Thegadgetdad for sure, but the quality isn't the same between 2 and 3. The advantage of taking directly vertical footage is unfortunately irreplaceable...i've mini2 and i've tried in many ways (also with yours) to crop the footage in vertical frame, but the quality (also in 4k) is not quite good...
This is my struggle too. Im just a casual traveller with my DJI mini 1. I usually shoot in 1080 and scale it in post and export them 1080p do you recommend it? Or should i change the shoot to 2K? 4K definitely overkill for my gigs to even render or post it. Please let me know what do you think best way to approach this
One question: for active object tracking, do you sometimes having problems with this method? I can imagine the object moves out of the vertical square in the frame. Curious to hear your take on that :)) again thank you for the amazing content.
I just keep my subject centered as best I can. Being that the mini 2 does not have object tracking. But even in the mini 3 I believe the active track isn’t available while recording in vertical mode. Best practice would be to keep the subject in the center
You would have to be an idiot to make a vertical video out a perfectly good horizontal video - the real problem here is how to stop people making vertical videos at all. At least until our eyes are no longer placed in our faces horizontally and we start mounting our TV sets vertically.
Vertical Video is what an amateur does with their smartphone because they do not know any better. Instead of turning your phone 90 degrees and taking full advantage of a 16x9 environment. Sadly it's become a thing. Next time you are watching a vertical video on your amazing HD TV, look at all that space on your 16x9 TV that is not being used. It's not rocket science. Having it available as a function on any DJI product is dumbing down your client, de-educating and in general includes unnecessary functions to the drone. Peace. :-)
Mini 2 SE and had a feeling it wouldn’t shoot vertical video - thanks for confirmation - and a hecka fun video. Subbed!
@@supersimplemarketing thanks! Glad the video was helpful.
Bro this is the GOAT of videos. I was just about to drop £1000 on a DJI 4 for vertical shooting. Thankyou!
I needed this video for so many reasons. Thank you!
@@marcuscoffey9535 your very welcome!
I like that quick and easy. Rotate video, Crop to Fill, export, Load in Quick time, rotate back, save. Thanks!

Thanks dude. I’ll be going on a UK road trip with the DJI Mini 2 and this is exactly what I needed

You are welcome 🙏🏽. The 2 is still the best BUDGET friendly drone.
Thank you for the quick and easy explanation!
Short and to the point. Well done

Straight to the point and very helpful, awesome video my man! 👊🔥 And you used my favourite song haha
Thanks 🙌🏽
You are the best, helped me so much. Cheers from Germany
Great video, saved me!
God blesses !!!

I'm from Germany and thank you very much for the video :) super nice bro

Hi, to shoot from a reel on IG do you recommend recording in 4:3 and then zooming the video from Instagram? or leave it in 16:9 and then zoom it?
Can I do this with an HP laptop
Definitely thinking about getting a drone myself.
Yes it’s a great addition!!
@@Thegadgetdad for sure
Brooo we love the drones, can’t wait for the 3 PRO haha great video man
Yes!! Counting the days.
Great video! thank you!

Thanks bro! Appreciate it 👊🏽👊🏽
Nicely done!

Sorry for the late reply my friend. But iMovie is only available for Mac or iPad.

Is there any other app for windows who is able to do that “crop to fill”?
Thanks for this. It was very helpful !!
you are crazy, man! Thanks a lot!

Can you suggest me which is better dji mini 4k or dji mini 3
Good job! 👍 am gonna tried this for sure!
great work man,do you know some app for android?
This is so helpful!! Thank you so much ❤
You could make a vertical sequence in fcpx then you don’t have to have a sideways preview
Props to you! Super useful 🤟🏼
Good video
Thanks!! Super helpful
You can crop this on your iPhone

Yea, any card reader to any device would work as long as your pulling directly from the card, you shouldn’t lose quality.
Honest question: is there any difference between editing on iMovie and editing directly on iPhone? Tks!
No there isn’t. As long as the clip your editing is transferred over In 4K.
Top Bro.
East River dude !! but great video !
So basically you will have to crop some of your footage to fit it in vertical screen?
Super easy thanks you 🙏🏻
Nice bro ..but I’m itching to get the 3 pro ..

I lost loads of quality and it was really small on my phone ? Mac is from 2017 do that think that’s why ? Thanks
Amazing
Solid 10/10
Can this not be done on the phone?
If the phone grew wings, sure
is this applicable for air2s as well??
good stuff
Dude thank you!
Np glad you found it useful!
But does that reduce resolution alot?
Or you shot on 4K then render it in 1080/720? (So you can get alot of pixel to begin with)
