A pilgrimage is never a waste, it’s a road to enlightenment, and even if scratch isn’t attained, you have done more for us lemonade players than a lot of would be ‘champagne’ golfers. Respect to you good sir
Playa in Chief I'm catching up on your Scottish oddyssey, so glad you went to RAGC. I did an Aberdeen trip 15 years ago and loved it. The wind was the other way for us and the front 9 was almost a spiritual golfing experience for me - such a beautiful place. The back 9 into the wind beat the absolute sh** out of me though! I wish I'd had your wisdom back then. Love your work.
Hey Matt this isn't regarding this video but you taught on a video to chip around the greens like a putter stroke more straight up and hit the toe I switched from 56 over to gap wedge and have been doing that successfully knocking five to six Strokes off per round now. Just wanted to thank you for that
@@qtrmilemalone yes I have a buddy that's like a seven handicap he can use the 56 anywhere so I tried to do that and wasn't very successful I think if you're playing all the time and you're really really good like Matt you can make that work

I shot 75 on the weekend with my driver in timeout. Used my 3 utility iron off the tee hitting it between 240 and 250 and not once missed the driver. Stress free golf.
love royal aberdeen amazing front nine i havent watched a game in years cos of time differences, but i watched the final knew all the players, they havent changed in 8 years LOL was stupendous - was worried they woudl pull a usual south african tactic of defending one point lead and getting pipped at the end
You have my golf cart, which I love, but it's often like bringing a toddler along. Using the "LOCK" button is a must, so it doesn't wander off behind your back into a trap, fellow playas, or worse! ⛳
Loving the series Matty. I’ll stick with 4.8 which was my guess at the start of the series. Looks like you’ll beat it though. Love your positivity, as they say, a bad day on the golf course is batter than a good day in the office.
Loving the content, my mates are now all buying your shirts and stuff. But, not to knock you: I think you'll reach around 2.1 hcp. Also, I really hope you play Kinghorn GC - a really unique quirky course in Fife!
I’ve been playing 4 months and shot an 80 using your strategy. My first 5 rounds were all around 120. I’ve shaved 40 strokes by my 11th round and haven’t gone over 92 since I first broke 100
Well this didn’t age well…just shot a 101, but in my defense the courses in California are so ridiculously overcrowded. There were times today that I waited 25 min in between shots, impossible to get into a rhythm. I wanted to ask for my money back. My round took nearly 6 hours
I appreciate as much as anyone that you manage play very well. I would also argue that we seem to be avoiding the driver as maybe it’s not your strong point, but when you look at the tour, no one is teeing off with an 8 iron. I think the driver is like every other club. A tool to gain yardage.
Yeszzzz you kept your cool very well. Awesome round under those conditions. But ... even better.. that exact windbreaker in this colour. Soooooh good. Take my money 😂🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
@@GolfSidekick shame mate, Castle Stewart at Inverness and RD are both brilliant. Maybe you'll get another Scottish holiday and if I am back home I'll get my dad to book us a tee at RD! Great series btw, loving it. Cheers, Fraz
My initial guess was 3.8.. dang lol I shouldn't have doubted. Legit question.. I'm not being a troll like I've seen on your channel. On hole 14, you hit a black ball off the tee and the 2nd ball is yellow.. do they make you hit a specific ball off the tee or something on certain holes?? On 15 you were using the yellow ball to tee off still.
Matt I've loved this technique, playing irons off the tee and have had huge success with. But for the last 6 weeks I've cut 90% of my irons and can't seen to him them more than 120 yards. Very frustrating, thinking of stepping back from the game for a few months for a break.
Practice thoroughly for a few months and take a break from the game its self. Don't quit man you got this! Get some indoor golf balls and practice short game so much that it doesn't matter if you shank or hook a iron.
@@krestwoodb thanks Playa. I practice my short game alot but can be frustrating when every single iron you hit cuts into nowhere. I've paid my membership up until Dec 31st. Was thinking of not renewing until spring maybe when weather gets better in UK.
Thats great you practice it a lot, because an easy way to get back into a good swing is to remember that a full swing is just a big pitch shot. @@jimmyn1357
Played this course into a brutish northerly. Front nine, even with the driver, half the fairways were out of range. Had 3 x9's on the front nine and none of them were on par 5's.
Love the videos and looking forward to St Andrews. But Matty Boom Boom, I miss watching you pipe 300yd+ drives down the middle! Seems you've developed a phobia with your driver man. Need to cuddle it, caress it, and she'll come around!
Mattie: As a partly famous golf legend (Dennis Hutchinson) once said " stay with the ball a little longer..." meaning let the right shoulder knock your head out the way in the down swing. That will give you better strike line and loft. A lot of your shots are starting right and going right. You got bt another 10-12 rounds to get to zero. This is an easy on course trick u can use.
Is it weird to be most accurate with driver and least accurate with 8-lob? I can't hit my shorter clubs for shit and it screws my scores, woods and long clubs are good.
Matty Boom Boom it was a good round! I’m the opposite of you. I have a hard time hitting anything but a driver off the tee. Where a shot requires less than a driver, I’ll hit a 3/4 driver or punch one. I’m having trouble playing in the wind. Everybody else does not seem to lose a lot of distance, but I’m losing 20 yards, and ball seems to balloon. I’m dealing with it, but it’s frustrating as hell. It’s like I’m playing one tee back.
The course looks tought with all the hills and the undulations!! I like your strategy by keeping it in play!! Also and trying to keep it under the wind!!🏌♂⛳
