@@charlesvidscots I started with this. Then I got little further on same principle :) I do similar stuff cut shots too, but it is too complicated to talk with text. Most important thing(for me) is when i need a lot of accuracy bend down and look spot from far where i gonna line my cue. Then I just line up to that spot. I see ball in between but not looking it. I just "feel" if it feels right and shoot straight!

I’ve not done this before but will be giving it a go today.
Also, I do use this same method (to some degree) when I line up a combo.
I run an imaginary line through ball #1 through to the ghost ball shot line of ball #2.
From there, I aim to hit ball #1 to a spot on the rail where the line continues thru the ghost ball. I totally disregard ball #2 and only focus on getting ball #1 to travel along this imaginary line. Ball #2 (object ball) is then, only in the way and gets cut into the pocket.

I remember playing you at a Kimberly Ales event some 20 years ago. I had this very same shot as I was on the black ⚫️ it rattled in the pocket.
You then potted the black by doing basically a figure of 8 with the white ball as you bounced off four cushions close to corner to corner pockets, to then pot the black.
I was amazed and gutted at the same time.

I've been doing this for years, I just took it that everyone useses this system of cueing on the pool table, and when there's money on the table, I take every advantage I can get.
I basically do this on my every shots. Many players told me that they look at the object ball at the moment they shoot the ball. But this is the way that works for me ; )
Was shooting balls around on the 9 footers one day and figured this out. Definitely helps with these shots and even shots very similar to it that may be slightly easier.

A very informative genius tip that many intermediate and some advanced players do not employ or have faith in. The truth is as this "man" Darren said on a perfectly straight shot the line of sight to the pocket, not the ball is the objective. As in all else practice makes perfect and practicing and honing your stroke to follow that line of sight is critical. Once down on the ball and lined correctly just before your stroke is loaded and ready to fire, you can close your eyes and make that shot with practice. Once you are down on the table everything mechanically should be factored in and no last second adjustments should be made at this time. In fact practicing that shot with your eyes closed after being loaded helps dramatically. Now I would not advise doing so in a game situation but the confidence it builds takes out any thoughts of the difficulty of the shot. Start at half table and work your way back to the pocket increasing the length until the cue is at the pocket. As the "man" Darren said with his clever tip developing an unconscious stroke blinded to the ball but to the destination is invaluable. Your stroke itself will benefit from his tip without question. Best advice I have heard on youtube to up your game in all facets and I am long in the tooth.

@@prodigalparties Then you move the chalk, now you're aiming slightly off straight but still looking at the edge of the pool table and not the object ball.

Yep. Longer angles, larger margins. And you are not relying on your eye focus being on collision, your eyes are focused at a distance. Some people don't have the same level of vision as others!

Great tip!!! I have seen most players use a cinch stroke and hit the back of the pocket. That usually eliminates roll of from the table and just makes the ball and strike be more straight and true. Would you agree?

you could also add or use it alone. draw the cue 1-2 cm. pause. and fire when the cue is on line. less movement.
try it a few times to get the hang of it.

Darren have a friend and yourself put a cue ball over 2 opposing corner pockets and shoot the 2 cue balls over the blue spot/center table simultaneously, and the cue balls will bounce off each other and come back into the corner pockets.
My friend and I made them both on our first try, on a 6x12 snooker table.
Does this work on cut shots as well

You wanna twist your pool mind? Start watching "aiming system" UA-cam videos. Center-to-Edge or whatever. They're all BS. On paper they may sound good but in practice they're impractical. There's no magic bullet in pocket billiards. Best aiming system, and the only aiming system is playing and as much as you can. Over time, your brain automatically determines the aim point on the object ball determined by the cue ball and object balls position on the table. 95% of the time you don't even need look at the pocket. Your brain instantly figured out the angle and aim point. This only comes with table time. You watch pros and good amateur players, they're playing instinctively. Far far more important than any "aiming system" is developing a laser straight consistent stroke. You can aim all you want but one little twitch in your stroke mechanics and any "aiming system" is useless.

@@beercanbrian1880 Amen brother. We can always give new theories a listen, but usually in the end the simplest solutions are the surest solutions. Table time, repetition, experience, testing under pressure, and being creative in terms of envisioning your shots (keeping an open mind)…those skills are what make the pros become successful and the legends maintain their glory. I saw or read in an interview that Efren never even contemplated a “system”, it’s just a feel for something that he’s grown so accustomed to through hard work and dedication.
This video is definitely not a fool proof “system”, but I believe it’s an incredibly good starting point for tackling long straight shots. I will definitely begin applying this method, as I already use a variation of it for multiple rail kicks and banks.

Pro tip: Don´t look at object balls just shoot white against any pocket you want, maybe there will be a ball there to pocket
Any good billiards instruction book will tell you this. It's the simplest version of an extended aiming point. But any good book will also tell you that the most important thing for that shot, is to learn how to use feathering strokes so that you are certain that you are hitting the cue ball with zero side spin, and a centre ball hit.
So it's like having a longer sight radius on a gun. Your perception of any movement off of target is amplified. Nice.

Hi Darren! Great binge-worthy content and I doubt you'll see this comment, much less respond, but I'd like to see a video demonstrating various pro players' strokes. Some players have a long, beautiful almost "wavy" or loopy, loose and relaxed stroke resembling a"figure 8" or see-saw motion like many Filipino players, including Efron and Bustamante. While others have a high and frozen elbow with a straight take-back and follow-through. Hope I'm describing this right. I love Efron and SVB's stroke. Thank you!

How do you avoid putting unwanted side on?
You have to hit dead-center on the cue ball, AND your stroke has to be dead straight.
It’s all about the cue ball, that’s what I’ve found. I put my tip right up to the exact place on the cue ball that I want to hit, and hit something like a lag shot-shooting the length of the table, and making the cue ball come straight back at your tip, and just touch the short rail. It’s harder that it seems, but you have to be able to shoot the ball straight or you’ll introduce sone unwanted spin, and that’s a way to sharpen that skill.
It’ll also help you use wanted spin-also not as easy as it might seem, since you have to move your cue a bit from center, and still shoot straight. I started with short, easy, soft shots. And speed comes into play, because using spin can make the ball run, or kill it. Very different from a center-ball hit.
This is a great game, but it takes time. Hey, if it was easy anybody could do it, right?
@@raystanczak4277 I agree that using 'wanted spin' is a good tactic. For me, every shot has a built in tolerable error range, so if you can use spin effectively, and make the object ball grab that cushion properly to pull itself into the pocket, then you've got more of a chance of making the ball. This effectively increases the width of the pocket. But, you do have to decide which side of the pocket is the best one to go for, and apply the appropriate spin. Of course, if you are off a bit in your aim, the ball will still go in if it doesn't hit any cushion.
I'm a proponent of lining up for the shot, closing my eyes just before making the stroke to 'calm down' most of the frantic micro-adjustments that my eyes are telling me to make, and then just take the shot. It's gonna go where its gonna go, whether I am looking at it or not.
This type of shot is the only one where I watch the cueball at last, exactly because I don't wanna put side on (as said by Darren)
I really like shots like that that are straight in where you have to follow the cue ball but you're trying to get shape so you have to the ball straight straight so you hit it off to one side and put English on it to throw it back the other way so that when it comes across the ball it's kind of like a bowling ball when it's coming into the pocket for a strike he comes in and goes across the ball it hits the right it hits the right point and throws in the pocket but then the cue ball will hit the rail and then take off and when you hit one of them clean it's just like yeah that's why I play pool. It's just those times when you hit one so good you hit it as good as it could be hit by anybody and it's just like yeah I did that I get off on that part anyway thanks bye

Good strategy for when the alignment is absolutely 100% dead straight. How often does that happen.
Not the toughest shot to be taken. Instead CB directly in front of the pocket, move it touching the short rail where only top spin can be played.
Can’t get over how wide your radiator is
I've been playing for 6 years and still csnt make a shot like this. Maybe my brain works differently but it doesn't comprehend the spherical shape of the balls. Round up and down, left and right. Its impossible for me to aim. Then look away from the object ball and forget where the spot I'm supposed to hit on it. If I focus on the object ball then I miss the cue ball completely. Is there a way around this?

I thought marking your target by placing chalk there was a no no....just kidding lol. That's a great pointer! When I was a beginner I used to use a similar method by picturing the ghost ball, and then lining that up with a spot on the rail or wall near the table to make sure that I was keeping the line of my cue ball where it needed to be. Once I got more skill I changed it up but with certain shots it is definitely very important to have a different way to aim. I haven't learned how to jump properly yet but I imagine there is a unique aiming method for that as well, especially if the object ball is far away, because at the moment of striking the cue ball, you have to be looking right at it and the object ball is out of your line of sight. Ok, that "secret" tip is for that very rare situation when everything is perfect straight?! Well, how often do you run into that "perfect situation"? I really can not remember a perfect straight shot the last 6 month...
That's how I used to do when I'm young. Now even the pocket have double shadows, so the method don't work anymore ^^.

That's BS. Players like to share knowledge in my experience. I think most of us try to help almost anyone serious about learning. If I worried about losing to a guy cuz of some knowledge he got from me, seems like I'd really be worrying about his ability lack of it. You never know how much you know about something until you start teaching it. But there are people that lean sorta that way. If pool is ever going to flourish again as it s trying to do, we got to help em learn to live the game again. Friend of mine rooker Massey used to build automatic transmissions and especially with torque converters that's where they hooked up and a drag race. Rooker was stalled of the Earth best guy I mean you can ask her if you and him are coming up for the final drag over the whole drag race and your car was broke rookery over there helping you fix the car so you can race that's what we need in pool
