The SD card option is under “back cover” I just got done doing a quote for my team for the 5490s sing this video and thought I’d watch it. We cannot wait to get these laptops. It’s been about 10 years since we’ve had new ones.
Really thinking of getting the Precision 5490 rather than the XPS 14 just for the physical function keys and more robust GPU options. Oh and the 5490 can come with a micro-sd card reader, and the 5690 can come with a full size sd card reader... It just depends on what back panel option you pick when ordering from Dell. edit: shortly after writing this comment, I did order the Precision 5490 (165H with 32gb and RTX 3000 Ada). I'm happy with it so far... seems very solid, maybe even overkill for Photoshop and Lightroom.
Thank you for the video. I was trying to figure out to get an MacBook Pro 16 (m3) or Dell Precision 5690. Decided on dell due to the software I use (accounting and excel). The thing I stick with is the display option Full HD+ or OLED UHD+. I usually buy laptop for 5 years span, and I afraid that OLED will generate issues like ghosting with time.
I've had hard time opening my XPS 17 for the first time too. It took me like 1.5 h and I was so stressed because I didn't want to damage anything. It was my brand new PC after all. Shame on Dell for not getting it right in their new laptops
I have a XPS 17 9720 fully loaded, still has some driver issues with Integrated to Nvidia GPU switching, lots of lag or some times the GPU missing in action when serious 3D application is being used. Fixed it by setting preferred GPU to dedicated- Nvidia and it runs silky smooth now, no lag anymore :) . As it keeps the GPU available , but most of the light work is still on the integrated GPU. Wake-up timer have turned to fix sleep issues - staying on when lid was down some times. Could not get RAID 0 to on my laptop with two 4 TB 980 Pro's even with loading the drivers durring the initial Windows Install.... Love the old XPS not the new ones
@@andrewmarcdavid you could have opened it through the smart card reader. I think I need to call dell and ask them about 2 different chassis options (depending on if you are about to order 32 gig or 64 gig ram). And to see if the RAM is soldered
Love getting a shout-out on videos for laptops that we're not even in. Thanks Andrew!

I love the special knife used just for opening computer boxes. 😂

Just caught the replay as I was not able to join you originally when you went live. Awesome unboxing and testing as always Andrew!! 👍😁
Thanks
@@andrewmarcdavid Loved your recording equipment used in live transmission could you share details for that setup ? Would really appreciate it.

Which performs better on battery?Dell Precisions or HP Zbooks?
That is WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), can be enabled on pretty much on any Windows. Used by devs. Nice that it is enabled by default.

how is the precision 5690 hinge stability? does the screen wobbling when typing
force slightly harder?
Is precision 3490 good?
Watching you try to open those laptops.. Wow.., Hint: you can open easier from the SD card slot instead of the back.
There is no SD card slot
@@andrewmarcdavid sure there is. On the right side. I have a 5690 myself.
