Check first if your car has SGM (before 9/95) or KGM. With SGM is not possible.

Hello, really great video. I am doing this HUD Retrofit on a 2012 X5 E70 LCI. I have a dashboard assembly with the HUD hole already in it. I also have the wiring harness for the HUD ONLY, not the entire wire harness. So I would like to see if someone can help where to connect the wires to the headlight switch as well as the fiber optic CAN cables etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
Is there a retrofit for the 2013 f06 650i that you know of for m hud to show gear and rpm

I coded my LCI E60 with M HUD, but my car doesnt show the gears on HUD. I have new gearbox with Joystick. Do i have to change something other to enable it? Thanks.

I have an 07 528i here in California. Its a virgin car and the only retrofit Id like to do is the HUD. I found 2 cars at the wrecking yard, an 07 528i and an 04 550 for what I remember.
How many different parts do I need to remove for a complete HUD retrofit and do you have a write up on it by any chance?
Im no afrait to cut the dash so please guide me in anyway you can, as Ill probably be spending under $50 in all the parts.
So i tried this on my 04 530d E61, m-view works for about 30 seconds before it goes back to normal HUD.
Ive gone back to stock and redid the coding but still the same. No errors during coding.

I tried with my man and it doesn't work. 545i SMG July 2005, not LCI. Is it working on LCI only? Can you please clarify?
Do you need another Headup display? I managed to active the M sport hud but It doesn't work I only see the colored display

No I didn’t it’s just a normal windscreen mate
Is it like really readable with a standard windscreen? Because a new one is super expensive (especially because of all the sensors)
For others thinking of doing this, if you have a car with no HUD and want to retrofit it to have a HUD you WILL need a replacement windscreen otherwise you will see a double image.
The option windscreen has specific optical design to prevent this double image.
If you don’t care about the double image then in all other aspect it will work, but it’s not advised.

There’s no option for that in e92’s so you’d have to build a script or fabricate a module probably
is there a difference on the M HUD and non M HUD? can you code the M mode display on a e61 535d with stock HUD? are there any other functions that can be enabled on the HUD like consumption, revs, driving mode, temperatures and other vehicle infos?
No diference, same hud for both

I can retrofit whatever I want like I did on this one to any car I did have video showing retrofit but we removed it as people was following it ☹️

If you upgrade to HUD you need to replace the windshield for HUD glass.
No you do not need too at all mind has been changed and works perfect with a normal windscreen think before you speak pal you can change the coding for what windscreen your using so it does not matter
@@BMWDoctor Hi, I changed my HUD windscreen (it was cracked) with a normal one. But now on this windscreen the graphics are a bit like they are doubled. I checked all the options with NCS Expert but there was no difference. I mean I tried all options and they were the same (doubled) in HUD module with ncs expert. Do you have any idea how to make it look normal ?

Gabriel Duma is actually correct.
The BMW windscreen is different for cars with HUD.
The HUD obviously works on any windscreen, but on a normal windscreen you see what he refers as a double image... due to the reflection in the windscreen layers...
The windscreen for the HUD systems overcomes this issue.
Otherwise great video.
LM Auto Repairs yeah I know mate and I know he’s correct on this I already knew this the HUD needs a different windscreen to normal BUT when most people have a crack auto glass just change it with whatever they don’t ask if you got HUD when they replace it otherwise you need to find a windscreen yourself from BMW

Now if somebody recodes the module for any reason it will all be gone so why not VO code it the proper way?
Because there is no need to vo code it as I’m not keeping it on my car and for my hud is already vo coded

No but you cannot code in these options via the vo these can only be activated well but the way any bmw garage is gonna see it when they code it in for you why are you gonna go and recode your car providing you do it correctly why would anyone need to recode there car unless they want rid of that option ???? Because I ain’t ever had to recode my car all....if your gonna recode make sure the option stays selected very simple before re coding but my hud is fully vo coded I think your talking to the wrong person pal I been doing this long enough to know you can’t code the m sport hud is the vo it can only be enabled same as on a M5 if you recode the car the tachometer dissappears by default and you then have to re enable
1) ccc was replaced
2) ccc was updated/flashed/repaired
Just to name a couple if for example buy this car modified and starts to do his/her own things to it starts coding things will get lost, now im not saying this is the wrong way to do it you did a great diy but there is that WHAT IF than a million questions will be asked.
What if can be asked on anything but recoding is only a slim chance of happening compared to working perfect if a module goes down usually it will need flashing and if your smart enough as you know you will reprogram and recode to default and re enable my ccc unit has been fully rebuilt with new chips so don’t have to worry about that and why would you update the ccc what gains are you getting ?????? Cic yes update it but ccc no gains what so ever and to be honest when you repair the ccc on the chips all it needs is reprogramming on the bench and then recoding that’s easy anyway

Hi i have a 325d 2008 lci m57 engine and the engine gives a shake at start no idle probs done the plugs and controler still same issue,any idea what could be please?thank you

Hi, is it possible to retrofit the hud without coding?
I have just bought an e60 535d that does not have a hud, but I also have a complete e60 535d donor car that does have a hud, is it possible to swap modules from the donor car rather than having to code it to work on the new car?
