    All FE motors are greatly overlooked. I've heard of 352s with the right stroker kit, cam and carb can crank out 600hp.

    I had a ‘58 Ford Police Interceptor my Grandfather gave me and that 352 was a Screamer! Wish I still had it. That’s a beautiful engine!

    The 58 352 special with dual 4bbl was the one to have, factory 360hp, as well as the 390HP factory 401hp. They also had the 406, 410, 427 and 428 soon thereafter, all unicorns in my book. I am infatuated with the smallest of the big blocks being the 332 and 352, with the correct mods can output similar numbers to the Glidden clevelands he modified!

    Chuck the obnoxious oversized chevy HEI and replace it with a duraspark distributor for an FE and run a remote HEI module if you really love HEI. Actually cheaper to do and the stupid thing isn't in the way of your air cleaner either.

      Not to mention for a Ford purest no GM dist should lever be used

      I use a 4-pin dirt track module and HEI coil on two separate finned heat sinks. They have been excellent. Used a regular Duraspark distributor, with the Duraspark pickup, and a points style male cap. I have also used a points distributor with the male cap, a set of points with no condenser connected to a GM 4 pin and a TFI coil, the HEI either one mounted on a heat sink is good too. Also use a solid state voltage regulator. The points ones can go full field and start a fire. I also use a matching steel gear to the roller cam. I don’t like bronze. The FE with a side oiler set of mains with the driver side bolts having the 3 center with oil feeds to the mains with lines to the oil filter adapter and plugs in the passages down to the cam and making the center passage bigger and the passege going up from the filter adapter to the top makes the oil flow better. You can also ream the front and rear passeges to make the oil flow from the cam passege better. The crank with the Cleveland race main bearings and the 2.2 BBC rod bearings with the Molnar rods reduces the parasitic loss. I love the FE, just need Trick Flow or BBM heads. The 2.19 and 1.6 valves will fit the 4.08 bore. A 2 four barrel and two turbos would make you crazy. That is 426.6 ci with just a 4.08 stroke. Torque monster indeed. The 70s 105 blocks have the 3 ribbed main webbing and are good iron.

    • @brockstarg2296
      @brockstarg2296 3 роки тому

      Not the rods, according my ford manual, the only dif between 360 and 390 is stroke.
      However it won't run like a 390 until you get some decent heads for it, the 360 stock heads are garbage.
      All fe blocks from 332ci-428ci use the same block if I am not mistaken, but get a 390 crank, rods, and heads, and you should have a 390.
      I am no expert, so get a second opinion before buying anything!

      You need to go to 4.08". That is .080 over stock. You can go less but you may pay extra for custom pistons. 4.08 is a stock size stroker piston. Go to Survival Motorsports on the web. They specialize in fe stroker kits and builds. There's a lot of info on their site.

      @silverbird58 It sounds nuts but we got away with boring them .60 to.80 over with a 390 crank you would have a 406 .A 428 crank would give you a 428 .At .80 over.

      @brockstarg2296 2 роки тому

      @@purpurahaze9179 I thought so, but from what I understood, the fe had a pretty thin cylinder wall to begin with so .080 was probably too far over to hold up to any serious power. In my opinion it would be better to get a 445 stroker kit and do a .030 over to get the power of a 428. I haven't even seen a genuine 428 crank and rods for sale, and they are for sure going to be a fortune.

      Gadsden Viper yes.. put in a 428 crank and rods will make it a 410 " old mercury engine" made great power. then bore like 40 over i believe and there you have a 428 from a 390.

      A 428 bore is 4.13 in. A 390 block is 4.05 in. You can't bore a 390 out to 428 specs. You have to put in sleeves.

      @@lorenzomaximo1818 We did it so many times it would make your head spin and TRW used to sell .60 over pistons for the 428 .Somebody gave you a line of BS on that one .It started when a wrist pin lock came out so we took a chance and went .60 over .Also put in spiro locks and don't overheat that engine because the cylinders are thin at that point .
