    So many drummers don't put a pdf of their music. I am soo happy you've done it. Thanks!

    I don’t know if this illegal but I always play the bass drum one beat one as well as the and of 2. I think it adds a lot.

    • @SachaKDrums
      @SachaKDrums  5 років тому

      Kyle Ball Just depends on the style but yeah it’s a good variation to practice. Some songs would get too bogged down/heavy with that feel but most could use it in certain sections. Common in Brazilian music too (Baiom feel).

    sacha can you explain the difference between mambo and cascara?

  • @SeaTheLion
    @SeaTheLion 6 років тому +10

    It would be so much better if you could make the examples longer, just play them for a couple more bars otherwise we have to replay them over and over to get a feel for it and it's more disjointed

    Is the bass drum tumbao never played on the 1?

    • @SachaKDrums
      @SachaKDrums  10 років тому +2

      It certainly can be, but I like to get people out of the habit of always playing it on one to start with as it's a more freeing groove I think.

    OK thanks. The count in is a bit confusing is all

  • @Obscurity202
    @Obscurity202 10 років тому +1

    Why are you talking about the bar as if it's in 4 and then counting in as if it's in 2?

    • @SachaKDrums
      @SachaKDrums  10 років тому +1

      It's written in 2 bars of 2/2 (my preference) but there's still 4 quarter notes in each bar that are useful to reference.

  • @larrytate1657

    Hmm, I never saw that as the mambo bell pattern.

    • @bteniswood
      @bteniswood 7 років тому +1

      Larry Tate You might be thinking of the Bongo Bell pattern possibly...What Sacha plays is definitely the standard, classic version of the Mambo Bell pattern.

    straight 16ths do not swing. swing is ALWAYS associated with a triplet shuffle feel.

    • @scotthammond-drummer
      @scotthammond-drummer 3 роки тому

      Sacha - When you say "swinging" am I right in thinking you mean "sounding great" as opposed to the swung 8th note meaning (or 16ths if you're thinking that way)? The 8th notes sound straight to me on this. They could obviously be played swung. Nice variations and great video btw.

    Cool grooves and nice video - thanks. I think the first groove might be the same as the first song on this: ua-cam.com/video/YteZQN-nW30/v-deo.html Not sure though.
