Such a beautiful job, thank you for sharing. The summer I turned 10, we were living on the farm. I was playing outside, when I heard the sound of a engine sputtering. There was a yellow J3 only 200 or 300 feet came across the house and he put it down in a field beside the house. He busted the left strut, with not a lot of other damage. It remained there for 5 or 6 weeks. I lived in “my J3” from dawn to dusk everyday, until they came, took the wings off and took it away. Led to my love of flying for the past 70years.
Chad, you know I've been following you a long time and you've done a stellar job of restoration. Don't think there will be another one anywhere close to what you've been doing on this for years. Been a long road to follow and patience as well as perfection have paid off in the work done. CONGRATS!
Since the cylinder base nut needs to be removed to replace the bracket, would you loosen all the nuts and re-torque following the pattern? Or am I over-thinking it and you can just remove that nut and re-tourque after changing the bracket?
Dammed, I needed new eyebrows and bought the Univair. Expansive and they are missing the second hole on the rear where the sparkplug goes through. Still some work to do for me. Yours look so much nicer. Wish I would have stumble over this video earlier…
Thanks for watching! Yeah Univair is HIGH on theirs and they don’t even come with everything you need. You may be able to return them to Univair and order you a set of these. 🤔🤷🏻♂️
@@ColeAviation Yes, not returning them. International shipping and toll procedures are quite costly too. And I also added the needed holes just the other day. But, I will know next time. Hopefully not too soon 😉
Sorry man. I set it to private hoping UA-cam would hurry up and process it in HD or 4K but they didn’t get in no hurry so I put it back to public. 😏🤷🏼♂️ MAYBE it will play in HD soon. 🙄🤷🏼♂️
So proud of you Chad! You have persevered and this J-3 will be the most beautiful tribute to William! Love to you!
Thank you so much Judy!!! I fired it up yesterday for the first time. 😁 I will have a video uploaded SOON on that. 😁 Love you all as well!!

Really nice! Congratulations Chad!
You're right, those are some of the nicest eyebrows I've seen on a Cub. Cant wait to hear it run.
can't wait you have to be getting close.
Yes sir.
I watch this channel bc it's interesting ..piper cub restoration ,the dads story n all but secondly his cool accent.

Good question but no sir. You do not have to loosen all of them up and re torque. Only the four top nuts. 😁👌🏼
how did you paint them, with a spray gun? what paint did you use
I used AirTech gloss Jet black. I shot them with my SATA JET 5500i. That’s about all I use in the shop is AirTech systems.
Thanks for watching!
