What a fantastic, emotional first flight post restoration Chad. 👌👌👌 You have done a wonderful job on that Cub and your Granddaddy is surely smiling down on you. Bravo Zulu. 👍👍

Beautiful Cub. Great job restoring her. Those little birds are born to fly. I was feeling with you. Not ashamed to admit, I had tears in my eyes too. Wish you wonderful times with her up in the air and always happy landings! ❤️
I originally found your channel because i fly RC planes but i have been following your restoration of your grandfathers CUB. Simply beautiful job and an amazing flight i hope you get years of enjoyment out it. If you ever plan to fly it to Triple Tree i would love to see it in person. Have a wonderful holiday with your family.
Great job on the video, Cuz. Of course I can't say enough about the beautiful.... let's just say 'Perfect' restoration of William's Cub. She's all yours now, buddy. I wish William and my Dad could be here to see it, but I know they are with us in spirit as we carry on the family tradition. It was a great honor to do this flight for you, She flew perfect in every way. Much love to you!

Should of done a pitot static test before the first flight. Flying a drone around an active airport- not cool. Great job on the Cub, Grandpa would be proud. Why didn't you fly her on the first flight?
Its "should have". The indicator was a fresh Keystone rebuild and reading bad from their shop. The replacement indicator reads perfect. Permission for the drone was cleared with airport authorities and the only airport activity was this flight. Chad chose to have a higher-time pilot do the flight.
@@leeroyholloway4277 Even if the indicator is brand new any time the pitot static system is broken into you should have a pitot static test done. One reason is for the very reason that he had problems with the airspeed indicator, You Check Instruments Before First Flight! I spent years in a paint shop as an A&P mechanic and took a lot of pitot tubes off for chroming and Every time a pitot static line was cracked a pitot static test was done. After all the time, sweat, tears and money put into this most excellent Cub restoration, it would be tragic if a disaster were to happen over a stupid little test. Thanks for the grammar lesson.
@@rickburris6164 Your point is valid & I appreciate the reply. There is only one pitot line on the Cub to the ASI & the static port is on the back of the instrument. The line was new, clean & clear. Beyond that, there is not much testing one can do on a Cub pitot. Perhaps Keystone should have tested and calibrated their own work before sending it out.
