Imagine walking out in the middle of the woods and you and your friends buying like 500 dollars worth of cement and just putting together a hidden skatepark in the woods lmao.
My friend showed me a dirt jumper spot like "for bikes" that was hidden away by the train tracks in my old town. There where still shovels and wood laying around they made little ramps and everything. Never knew who made it though but sadly it didn't look like it had any love for a least a couple weeks. I just skate so I wouldn't know how to fix it or what they might have planned so I just explored and left it alone. Haven't been back in over three years. Hope some new kids found it and made it their new spot.
Literally anything is/can be a spot. Stairs, rail, wall, cement/asphalt ditch, ledge, curb. Heck, even a fence. Literally anything. Simple spot would be a wooden pallet with a piece of plywood screws on it. Boom, that’s a box and manny pad.
PLEASE make more transition skating tutorials like how to safely progress into big bowls and how to do basic grinds. theres little to no tutorials specifically on bowl skating. keep up the immaculate job!
I'm glad the youngsters didn't hit it too early! Would have been tragic to come back to two wheel sizes tracks into the beginning of the transition. Alls well though dude! Happy to see it. Love your channel Brother!
What did you end up having for dinner Zach? Anyways, always inspiring me bro! Thank you for the content. Love to see you keep building and expanding in your area! What a legend! 🤙
I read add sand to the concrete and you can get more out of one bag. Also filling up.the base with as much debris and rocks as you can will save on bags of concrete you have to buy. Super inspiring. I've been working on a diy spot in the desert in AZ with wood I get from construction site dumpsters. Video to come soon. Its already pretty big. Two mini ramps.with a spine is the starting goal. Got most of the skeleton built
Sanded concrete is brittle and breaks down like sand stone over time. But if you want it to last just spend another $20 and get a couple more bags. I poured megalithic slabs for living in my late 20s
What up Brother! Just got finished watching Ace Pelkas Thrasher " Creative Control" part. Saw a part where he skated your/this exact DIY Spot. Pretty Fn Rad! Keep the Stoke coming! 👊🔥🤘
Amazing work! Definitely keep it up. I know you saw the wood ledge/ wall that’s holding back the dirt on the right side. You should get some angle iron, wood to metal adhesive/ glue! And some wood screws. Pre drill some holes in the angle iron and make an indent for the underside of the screws ( I don’t know what you call that process) and make a quick how-to video on another DIY spot.
Yes keep it DL, and just as we were lucky to find at Burnside in the 90s, you will find that no one but sk8ers will notice until after yer spots've been going for awhile..
WoW! That was some fantastic content Zack! I am so glad I discovered your channel. I just got into carpentry and wanna do this for the next gen of groms around town. Im wondering, did you end up using that rebar that you brought with you on this spot? If not, do bigger banks and transitions usually warrant reinforcement? Anyways you earned a new subscriber and please keep up the high quality content. Aloha 🤙🏻
Appreciate the subscribe dude! I did use rebar on this build, I think if you're doing anything thicker then 3 inches rebar is worth it. But for like barrier for example I wouldn't use rebar because there's already transition & you're essentially just adding a few extra inches of transition at the bottom.
You should add a piece of angle iron to that wooden retaining wall on the right to make it into a rail. All it would take is the piece of angle iron and a few deck screws.
Somebody should make a series where they just go to different towns/cities and make DIY skate spots for the local skaters, I would watch the shit out of that.
bro...I live in a small town and I need a skatespot but I can't find a spot..so I was wondering if you could check the city out... maybe find something, if u even reply, I appreciate it
You know of any ditches or DIYs closer to Poway? Maybe Mira Mesa? I’m looking to build but all the ditches i find have constant water flow or local Karen populations. Maybe build up there?
That's really cool that those kids found your spot but idk why they took off the wood sides. What do I know maybe they knew it was ready but idk I wouldn't want to mess with something I didn't make like that. I'm not saying they shouldn't have skated it I just don't know why they took off the sides.
Wait, so the hi-vis vest thing is legit? I was doctoring a curb up earlier, and one of the homies suggested it lol. Thought it might've been a joke I wasn't in on...
Any large open parking lots? Sometimes you can build spots in the corners, or in between curbs/grass area. Maybe a skate shop could help you find a spot?
The water flow can go right over the 3 inch concrete right there, there's way more obstructive objects in that curb area just north of the concrete. It's also a huge parking lot so there wouldn't be any build up besides some loose debris. Good advice though!
If someone asks you what you’re doing, say you are with the Boy Scouts and are doing your Eagle Scout project by fixing up places in the city 😂
LOVE THIS!

Yes!
You should try building some in the north park area if you can that would be sick.
@@sxsha4847 Down!
Yes in Escondido please :-)
I always duct tape a note
*“Not dry/ready, Skate (Date)”*
It always gives me peace of mind other skaters will respect it.

All the lil homies organically showing up and loving the spot first day was so cool
Seeing the local kids enjoying your work must’ve felt really good. I’m stoked on what you do. Cheers homie
Next video should be putting a bounty on tail dropping off the top of the fence!
Steve Hill I was thinking that, it’s possible!
I would. full send 🔥🔥
AS SEEN IN ACE PELKAS CREATIVE CONTROL!!
I'm glad the youngsters didn't hit it too early!
Would have been tragic to come back to two wheel sizes tracks into the beginning of the transition.
Alls well though dude! Happy to see it.
Love your channel Brother!
I was so excited that it was untouched in the morning! They skated it a little early but honestly at that age & if I was them, I would have to!
its so cool to see all the Kids skating it..
What did you end up having for dinner Zach? Anyways, always inspiring me bro! Thank you for the content. Love to see you keep building and expanding in your area! What a legend! 🤙
That was dope, sick to see like the instant gratification from those kids skating it. Thank you for sharing and making killer videos.
I was so hyped they liked it!

Love this idea! I was wondering how we could use those wood retaining walls.
I love this so much I live in LA and love seeing stuff like this thanks so much
Your mason skills are impressive and have definitely evolved. Fun to watch.
Thank you! :)
What nice guy. Takes the initiative and builds a cool spot for everyone. Well done.
Just found your channel, loving the content. Keeping me sparked to keep building my spot knowing there’s fellow lone builders out there getting it
Off topic, but would be interested to see a brief bit on what your setup is like. Loving these DIY idea vids!
Yes keep it DL, and just as we were lucky to find at Burnside in the 90s, you will find that no one but sk8ers will notice until after yer spots've been going for awhile..
Zack daddy you are the best diy skater I know. You have inspired me to make a quarter pipe, kicker and ledge.
That's AWESOME!! Love hearing this.

This is some raw skater vibes i freakin love it bro!
Definitely the sickest skate channel evah....
Missed what kind of concrete you used to do the final lip?
that was sick how it was instantly skated haha
Right?!? I've seen skate sessions on the spot every day sense it's been built. So stoked that's being used.
"If you build it they will come"
your coolest video so far, please always leave the skate sesh at the end!
Thanks Ozzy, I held back a few days & agree I think having the skating in the edit really rounds it out.

Irado!
Any updates on this spot? Is it still going strong?
Manzanita walls long lost twin brother!
You know of any ditches or DIYs closer to Poway? Maybe Mira Mesa? I’m looking to build but all the ditches i find have constant water flow or local Karen populations. Maybe build up there?
You're a good dude
bad ass dude!
Lol i don't think city workers build diy spots, but i feel what you're saying.
That's really cool that those kids found your spot but idk why they took off the wood sides. What do I know maybe they knew it was ready but idk I wouldn't want to mess with something I didn't make like that. I'm not saying they shouldn't have skated it I just don't know why they took off the sides.
My kids liked this spot. My middle daughter ate it on her first drop in but made the second. Maybe it will be resurrected someday.
Wait, so the hi-vis vest thing is legit? I was doctoring a curb up earlier, and one of the homies suggested it lol. Thought it might've been a joke I wasn't in on...
you're the coolest
Hey I live in Long Island. I can’t find any place near me to build something. I tried google earth but I couldn’t find anything . Advice?
Any large open parking lots? Sometimes you can build spots in the corners, or in between curbs/grass area. Maybe a skate shop could help you find a spot?
Zack Dowdy thanks!
Yo those kids were hyyyyped!
This is a very strange video. lol still awesome. gonna need ninja clothes for nite time builds!
Cool spot zack d
Where is this
Bro ur a fucking legend
is that Shuriken Shannon?
Yes... The man, the myth, the legend!
Dallas kids
How do I fix up an old diy spot?
Mortar is great for skimming over crusty crete.
You’re blocking the gutter where the water runs. Maybe you should have included a pipe underneath to allow the water to flow underneath.
The water flow can go right over the 3 inch concrete right there, there's way more obstructive objects in that curb area just north of the concrete. It's also a huge parking lot so there wouldn't be any build up besides some loose debris. Good advice though!
I find it weird you always call it a 'leveling tool' in the UK we Just call it a level aha
