      @BENgalFan1369 maybe. WRs are very difficult to get into the HOF you have to really stand out in your generation in a lot of cases. Chase is definitely a very good receiver and has a shot but Sewell already has more All-Pro selections.

    The choice was perfect for both teams. The Lions didn't need a big-time receiver at that point and the Bengals needed a weapon for JB. Sewell, though, is more of a "cornerstone" player for a rebuilding team in my opinion. He set a tone of toughness for the Lions right away

    • @dereckdunckel
      @dereckdunckel 7 днів тому

      Disagree, burrow needed Sewell more than chase and lions did need a wr1 as they picked up st.brown in that same draft and he's basically been their top wr since. I wouldn't take chase over st brown and definitely wouldn't take him over Sewell. Not even close imo

    • @bd8037
      @bd8037 6 днів тому +1

      @@dereckdunckelDisagree, Pitts was also mocked in that 5th spot, but has failed to do much. He wasn’t put in the right place. Chase’s potential is better on the bengals than on the lions. Same as Sewell, bengals needed 5 new starters on that line. Even someone as good as Sewell could not single-handedly raise that line. Chase was the clear option by a long shot, not even close

    • @dereckdunckel
      @dereckdunckel 6 днів тому

      @bd8037 couldn't disagree more, they clearly needed offensive line then and it was obvious, he's even had major injury since. St brown has been arguably just as good and he was available in the 4th. They clearly should have got Sewell then went after a wr. You build championship teams through the trenches then pick up playmaker after. If you find a franchise qb, then priority 1,2,and 3 is protecting him at all costs

    • @rjharrold2907
      @rjharrold2907 5 днів тому +1

      I agree but I now realize the other side of it with a few points. When you look at scarcity while there still aren't a lot of elite wr1s there are less tackles around the level of Sewell and those top guys than wrs around the level of Chase and those top guys. And when you look at longevity generally those top tackles have a longer shelf life than top receivers if we average it out, something I've noticed as I watch the league. That being said on the other side the immediate impact of Chase was more instrumental and the value that kind of guy brings is giving that true 1 weapon for a qb to rely on as well as opening up the other pieces of the offense for more opportunity because of his prescence which includes the run game. Offensive linemen and tackles more so than interior guys have a huge impact still in the run game and pass pro but naturally it is less off of their singular presence not quite having as much impact because the rest of the unit matters more in those reactive positions like secondaries and offensive line compared to receivers and pass rushers just simply because of weak link theory. Tackles and corners still add the idea of being able to slide coverage or protection away from them it's just big weaknesses in the unit kill things more than a bad number 3 receiver with a high drop rate for example would.
      Safe to say both teams are happy with who they got imo

    I don't think the Bengals staff could've schemed Sewell as an extra tight end like the Lions staff has. Burrow isn't a jumbo style QB; he excels in five man protections. Putting Sewell into the backfield so he can motion into having sometimes three tackles on one side of the ball is a huge maximization of his abilities that simply doesn't mesh with other Bengals' players maximizations.
    Basically the tier list/power ranking would go:
    1. Sewell on the Lions
    2. Chase on the Bengals
    3. Chase on the Lions
    4. Sewell on the Bengals
    The teams made the correct choices imho

  • @gsray12
    @gsray12 8 днів тому +1

    Sewell might have made a difference with all of Burrows injuries. What if he take less hits and sacks giving Burrow time to make avg receivers good. Also remember he still would have Tee Higgins. Protect your franchise player first. Keeping Burrow upright should have been the #1 priority. You take a HOF o-lineman they are definitely more rare than good/great receivers.

  • @corey2justified1
    @corey2justified1 7 днів тому +1

    This question is ridiculous, they play different positions, they are both elite. They can't be compared. It just depends on what you needed at the time. Also, I guarantee no one besides you ever though Chase played like Mike Evans. Never did I think the reason Chase was so unstoppable was because of his height. Even on the play you compare him to Mike Evans, Ramsey clearly has an issue keeping up with Chase's speed. You said you believe in wide receivers over the trenches and that's fine. The Lions of old would definitely agree with that. Trenches is definitely my call, its not flashy. But it helps you out in every aspect of the game, running, passing, and special teams, and that's on both sides of the ball.

    as a bengals fan, I would say chase is a better WR than Sewell is as an offensive lineman, but I would probably rather have sewell because o-line is more important than wide receivers imo. the game starts in the trenches. not to mention, I feel like getting elite offensive linemen like sewell is harder to come by than finding an elite wide receiver. either way, I feel like I would be happy with either player but considering the bengals have slowly improved their offensive line each season, I am more happier that chase is on my team.
