hey, instead of wars lets have sing-offs. so much brotherhood happening here. it is a great thing to see and hear. thank you for the commitment this represents.
The sad irony is that without war this song would have no meaning, it is the knowledge of the loss and pain that war causes that gives this song the emotion that it conveys.
This rendition has had a defining moment in my life--I know its a while ago, but the blending of voices and harmony and the great ranges in ages--Love the young men and their involvement--Whoever sings that high note at the end and hangs on to the end is exquisite--Just a real blessing in my life-wish I knew their names
My mother was a Sweet Adelines director for many years and she taught all five of her children to sing barbershop harmony. Love this. Reminds me of my mom . I miss her a lot. Thank you.
A magnificent program of musical sophistication and beauty from a fine group of chorale singers and the arrangement is perfect for the harmony delivery---Hurray
Beyond poetry. Profoundly healing and uplifting. The exquisite shading in tone, volume, expression and every attention to detail combine to make this an unforgettable performance. Touches the deepest level of my heart.
at first I didn't understand why people thought Vocal Majority won over Masters of Harmony because I thought Masters Of Harmony had an amazing performance. but this... this was absolute perfection. I loved all of this performance. this will forever be one of my favorite renditions of the beautiful song.
Certainly a beautiful performance here, but the VM just has too many people. It's simply impossible to lock properly with 160 voices singing at once. All choruses have that same challenge, but it becomes harder and harder to overcome the more singers you have.
While it is true that the more people you have the more difficult it is lock and sing perfectly, I think this is a pretty good example that it can be done. It takes a lot of hard work and practice.
I came to this because of listening to a Mike Rowe podcast. He was talking about how instrumental in his life his high school Barbershop Music teacher was to him. He talked of the Barbershop and the great people he has met in his life. I have always hated Barbershop groups. Not my cup of tea. After listening to this and seeing everyone in the group with such joy which comes out in their voices, I have changed my mind. Being from an Irish family I have never really been warm to Danny Boy. This has changed upon me listening to this brilliant rendition. I will be looking up and seeing where around NYC one can get in on this. As a closet singer its time to come out and join the band. Well done Vocal Majority, Very well done.
Let's get you singing! There are two choruses in the city: Voices of Gotham (Hell's Kitchen) - facebook.com/voicesofgotham/ Big Apple Chorus (Midtown) - facebook.com/BigAppleChorus/ Membership info can be found here: www.barbershop.org/joining-the-barbershop-harmony-society/
WOW!!! Seriously, I had chills through almost the entire song!!! That was beautiful!!! And the diction!!! I hadn't heard the 2nd verse before, but I could understand the words! Also, I think it's great that there is such a wide range of ages in the chorus. Well done VM!
Man, it's been awhile since I've seen these guys. I still remember being invited to join the Vocal Majority after I graduated high school, but I turned them down. One of our teachers was actually a vocal majority member, Steve DeCrow. Awesome dude, super talented. I at least got to be apart of Harmony Explosion for a couple years at the Texas Women's University. That was fun as heck.
This is one of my brother's favorite songs! His name is "Danny," & he used to think that when his mother sang it to him, it was about him! LOL Great job, as usual, VM!
It's hard to believe, but true... The VM has maintained this incredibly high level of singing for over 45 years, and winning their 13 International Championships!!!
My dad sang tenor with The Dapper Dans of Harmony out of Livingston, so I know when something is really great. You guys are amazing and you made me cry. Goose bumps and What do they call it? The fifth ring tone? All beauty. Congrats on being wonderful.
Can someone please explain to me the final long note on the word “So” I can hear an amazing low warble that I can’t quite understand how they are doing this?
Danny Boy is a favorite of mine. I listen to every version of it I can find. Frank Patterson tops my list of renditions of Danny Boy by a male, and Celtic Woman had been at the top of my list for females. But I bumped them from the top spot in favor of a singer who has sang Danny Boy only once. That's correct, only once, she had never performed it, before the day she recorded it, and has never performed it since that day. It was recorded as 1 of 19 songs to be considered for a then upcoming album. 14 of the 19 songs made it onto the album. 18 of the 19 made it onto the Deluxe Edition of the album. Danny Boy was the only song out of the 19 that did not make it onto any album, nor any of her albums since then. But IMHO in the years to come her rendition of Danny Boy will be judged by future music scholars as A Masterpiece of the Ages. ua-cam.com/video/8s_jleJFR_M/v-deo.html
I really like this song first off, and this cover has got to be up there in like my top 3. I've a question though, does the barber shop harmony society only do barbershop? I mean I guess not, but what is this, just a choral?
To sing as soft as that and still have the control, blend, and sweetness is what acapella is all about
Such brotherhood. All races and ages
I don't think there will ever be a more beautiful Barbershop chorus arrangement recorded.
hey, instead of wars lets have sing-offs. so much brotherhood happening here. it is a great thing to see and hear. thank you for the commitment this represents.
Thats dumb in russia our military is 💪

There is a good reason this is my Dad's favorite Barbershop chorus.
I've loved these guys since I was first introduced to them in the early 90's when I got involved in the Barbershop craft. Just flat out awesome.
these guys take group singing to another level...wow.
such joy in their faces as they sing this beautiful song----proving once again that music soothes the soul
A magnificent program of musical sophistication and beauty from a fine group of chorale singers and the arrangement is perfect for the harmony delivery---Hurray
Absolutely spellbinding. During pandemic days this is very soothing. I’m still watching 2 years later.
So love this song

Mr. Moore: What an articulate and beautiful tribute to TVM!
Such restraint on the quiet parts, hard to sing softly while maintaining force and drive. Wonderful
Glorious.
words can't explain
this is just one of their many top performances,i have seen them live over 50 times now and each time they continue to amaze me
I'm in tears. It has been a spiritual experience to hear this and will be each time I listen. Heartfelt gratitude to all involved.♡
Beautiful
Beautiful rendition of Danny Boy ❤
this is the kind of unity this country needs right now......4/29/21

THE ARRANGEMENT! Dang. Performance was amazing as well!

What a beautiful, thoughtful performance. Thank you, VM, for a very edifying 5 minutes.
Have always love real Barbershop singing, my bro in law was in it for over 50 years, rarely misssed shows..
Perfect! The best rendition! Your diligence and extra hard work definitely comes through! And talk about dapper!
As good as it gets! Bravo, boys!
Excellent song sung excellently!
awesome barbershop chorus
What was that??!!! Out of this world.
Absolutely fantastic harmonies.....
At 1:00 that guy is rocking that moustache! Also, awesome job on the song!
I was persuaded to go to their performance in Crockett a few years ago. I was won over. They give a good show.
Outstanding!!!!!!!!! ::::::::: applause ::::::::::::
Honestly I love the crickets in this

I am speechless

Pamela Perkins what a sweet story, bet it made him feel loved.
It's hard to believe, but true... The VM has maintained this incredibly high level of singing for over 45 years, and winning their 13 International Championships!!!
Not forgetting they can only enter every 3 years, as champs have to take time out after a win)comp rules).
Thank you 😀 Takes me back to when I was a kid and my Dad was in the Dapper Dans. Beautiful sound
angeli senza le ali ma che ti fanno volare così in alto che ti perdi completamente.
great and Favolous...!!!! love you all guys..!
wow !....just wow !
Amazing!!!!!!!!!
Wow! Smooth!
Beautiful, just beautiful.
My dad sang tenor with The Dapper Dans of Harmony out of Livingston, so I know when something is really great. You guys are amazing and you made me cry. Goose bumps and What do they call it? The fifth ring tone? All beauty. Congrats on being wonderful.
Mary Demerjian My dad was in that chorus too! Don Donahue.
Killed it.
trop beau merci a vous tous , j aime beaucoup ,beaucoup beaucoup !!!!!!!
@Gabriella Mac I see your boys! Job well done, gentlemen.
Sensational!!
Yes Sir the version i've been looking for. Harmony on fleek.
WOW!
1:42 is that the leaf of clutch (also that was amazing great job guys)
goosebumps 💕
😊😊❤❤
Can someone please explain to me the final long note on the word “So” I can hear an amazing low warble that I can’t quite understand how they are doing this?
This sound so good it doesn’t sound like they’re singing😢😢😢
The lead of Polaris is shown like 53 times cx star of the chorus apparently (: all jokes aside, great performance!
I always thought that " 'tis you 'tis you must go" is more in character with the Irish nature of the song. Mush better than "it's you..."
Is the director the tenor from Max Q?!
Abigail H sure is his name is Greg Clancy

Can someone tell me whats the chord on 1 min?
I really like this song first off, and this cover has got to be up there in like my top 3. I've a question though, does the barber shop harmony society only do barbershop? I mean I guess not, but what is this, just a choral?
black shirts, so classy.
What's making that "cricket" noise in the background?
An actual cricket :)
Not sure I'm hearing that, but I'd guess it's the risers they're standing on creaking every once in a while...
It was in the actual hall too, some weird sound effect seemingly
It was a literal cricket, unfortunately.
Risers squeaking.
Yeah, they definitely outsang Masters, sorry. Judges, what were you thinking???
my nickname is DANNYBOY.
Oh my god. I...can’t......speak.
Was expecting green suits, shirts, and ties ...
odd, I can hear them breathe before they sing. Sounds like they are taking a hit off a joint.
We actually planned it that way. We coordinated our breath so that our entrance would be together. :)
Courage the cowardly dog brought me here
Everything is Terrible brought me here.
Too much wiggling around...distracting...but good B and B...
This might be the whitest thing ever made.
Poor interpretation on the director's part. Not a bad arrangement but not the best
I don't understand the goofy face making.
Not traditional, not my taste.
This seriously took 2nd? safe and boring...Talk about slotting competitors into spots.
Yes Sir the version i've been looking for. Harmony on fleek.
WOW!
