  • Had the opportunity to play a drum solo at Wacken Open Air festival August 6th as a part of the Borknagar set. I know it's not perfect, but I wanted to share this with you anyways! Enjoy!

    "Baard Kolsta drum solo" - isn't every song he plays in a type of drum solo?

    FINALLY! A metal drum solo that's not all about triplets and Portnoy fills.

      right, left, right, left, kick, kick,
      right, left, right, left, kick, kick,
      right, left, right, left, kick, kick,
      right, left, right, left, kick, kick, etc... (obviously with variations, it's just a joke). I love MP (and Mike Mangini). They're all great in their own way. Braad is super creative as a song-oriented drummer :) this drum solo is cool but not the most interesting, but then again, that's easy for me to say lol. It would be awesome to see it live and be a part of it. Probably the best kind of solo for this setting to be honest.

    You look so happy when you play, Im jealous because I quit drumming because it caused me more anxiety to play in a bar of 25 people than it created happiness to do so, and here you are enjoying a drum solo in front of tens of thousands of people. Amazing job!

    Serious question. Why have two bass drums if you're going to use a double pedal? I never get why some people do that.

    • @allenvrabac4827

      Looks cool.

    • @gregdaniel8404
      @gregdaniel8404 7 років тому

      it definitely looks cool, but if youre going to go to all the hassle of having the second drum, at least use it Im thinking

    • @christianbinder8409
      @christianbinder8409 7 років тому +1

      I guess its mby his drumset, so the second tomb belongs kinda to the second pedal and thats why he takes it with him on tour. But keeping both bass drums tuned on the same tune while being on tour is hard and annoying work since through vibrations at transport they get differently out of tune. Tuning one and just using a double pedal seems like a good option for a more consistant sound. However everything I just said should be taken with a grain of salt since i have actually no idea :D

    • @akshitjha6251
      @akshitjha6251 6 років тому +1

      greg daniel When he hits a bass drum two times, the vibration from the first hit doesnt get any room to breathe. That's why many players have two bass drums. Adds a lot more character to the kick. Yeah, some people use triggers but that's a different topic.

    • @christianbinder8409
      @christianbinder8409 6 років тому

      Akshit Jha but thats not the thing here since he doesnt actually hit the other bass drum because he still uses a Double pedal on one of the basses

      Men, come back to druming, never be afraid of playing, what matters is you are doing something you like, not of how many people is in front of you
