At first I thought you were making a mount. No, you are activating the tripod. Awesome.
Glad you are out and about.

    Hi Jim,
Some of the other UA-camrs would say "Will it Antenna". Great you had low SWR on the bands. Stay safe. 73. WJ3U

You know I never considered using the whole tripod as a radiator. I have a speaker tripod but if you put the antenna on top the ground radials will be too far away to be effective unless you raise them. Jim you have a good idea here and thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming! KF4SNJ

Hi Jim, Great information. I had a 20 ft aluminum telescoping flagpole I got from Amazon. I was looking for a tripod to support it and wound up with a photography tripod same as you. The wonderful thing about it was I took the slides out of the tripod, and the flagpole slipped right into it like it was made for it. So now my tripod tip is over 20ft up. I put a 5.6 meter telescoping whip on top of that and tuning it was a nightmare so I scrapped that idea and just attached a carabiner on top to put up a random length. I never thought of using the pole itself as an antenna. I checked continuity and the slides of the flagpole only connect "electrically" when fully extended. I'm going to do some experimenting using only the pole itself without attaching any whip to the top. Thanks so much for the inspiration. I hope you're feeling better. 73 de KA9TII

Hello, Another innovative and timely video! The Seniors group in my church is having a "hobby, arts and crafts day". I would like to set up a 10 meter station at the church in the hopes of getting to talk with some other stations rather than just putting the equipment on display. This tripod is an affordable and easy way to get an antenna out on a wide sidewalk area. Could you show or discuss a little more of the details of how the center conductor is connected to the pole behind the mounting bracket with the radials connected to it! I cannot afford a telescoping mast to hang a dipole on, but this is doable. I've already ordered one from B & H! A picture of what's behind the bracket would be helpful. Boyd KO4GJO

POTA Parks On The Air is what I was told by my mentor. We built an antenna under the supervision of my Elmer and we used a 102 inch whip design on an aluminum transit tripod with different tuning coils made from copper tubing you could switch out. Took some tinkering but got him on the air.

@@greasydot Okay,I see. "Park on the Air"? Interesting.I built a 5/8th wave center fed verticle dipole much like the Sirio "Gainmaster" for 10m and had some fantastic results from it, Sirio made a homerun with that design.
Thanks for the reply and 73's

Hi Jim i own a Yaesu FTDX101D like you . What are your audio settings mic gain and processor and AMC ? Im having to set my mic gain to 20 to make my audio sound clear? This seems very low also my audio sounds better when i dont have the ALC moving at all and with 5 compression? Does this seem correct? As in 1 of your videos you mentioned the ALC on yaesu needs to be about 75% scale? But mine does not move but sounds better? Hopw you could do a video of this yaesu ftdx101d audio settings think it would get alot of views as well. Thanks

When it comes to HOA’s neighbors aren’t the ones that complain on the most part. The pain in the patutti is the HOA service company. They attach with a vengeance. They rule over property as though it is their property. I live under an HOA I know of none of my neighbors that like the service company. We have switch companies trying to get one that we can live with. We haven’t found one that has compassion for the community.
