    It literally looks like the paramecium are jumping for joy when they separate

    does anyone get extremely frustrated by the fact that they are trying so hard to get away from each other, but are having such a difficult time?

      I saw them like two lovers dancing and desperately trying to hold on to one another, while being bombarded by the pressure of their peers all telling them it's time for them to break up🤣

    Paramecium becoming parameceia. Beautiful.
    Also I cultivated my colony (along with some other neat critters) by just collecting some lawn sludge in water.
    They’re quite literally everywhere where there’s consistently moisture and organic matter.

      They should have kept the original paramecium noises in.

    What a great bond and similarity between two of them.

      The similarity is cause it's from the same parent

    Oooo, that's beautiful. At the end, they looked like they were trying to get away from each other, but were having a hard time of it.

    @thechadhurleychannel They are fairly easy to find in stagnant ponds and ditches. Once you've found a few, it is not hard to cultivate them. They eat the bacteria that form in water steeped in grass & leaves; so, you can boil some hay and let the water stand for a few days, until it is colonized with bacteria and small flagellates. If you add a bit of pondwater to that nourishing medium, paramecia will spread rapidly.

    Question is can they multiply and subtract?

      Sure, you just watched them multiply! And whenever they eat? That's subtraction.

    @FlyingPiper13 Yes, binary fission is the most common term for this type of reproduction. Some people restrict the phrase "binary fission" to prokaryotes (bacteria), but it is widely, and quite correctly, used for cell division in protists like Paramecium.

    Is this binary fission?

    @mulatualumban The song "I'm Schizophrenic (No I'm Not)" is by a small Chicago-based band called the New Duncan Imperials. I don't know much about them, but they seem to have been a fun group with a taste for the absurd. The song is one of UA-cam's free Audioswap selections.

    wat kind of reproduction is this

    • @BruceDSTaylor
      @BruceDSTaylor  10 років тому +1

      FB, This is reproduction by asexual binary fission. Like most ciliated protozoa, Paramecia reproduce by dividing transversally. This division is sometimes preceded by a sexual phenomenon called "conjugation," but the division itself is asexual.
