Hi! Is it possible to transfer onto external drive only part of the game, for example just a folder with .exe and then download the rest of the game trough steam?
Dark Phoenix, My guess would be yes. You would need to locate your Game Folder on your hard drive to move what folder you want. I would suggest downloading the game on the new PC and then copying over the files. Of course I'm not 100% sure since I've never done it this way in some time. I have done this before.
The only way it would not work is if you are using a "different" Steam ID/Name. Even if you do this wrong under your Steam ID, you would just have to install it, not purchase it because you already purchased it. So that is the only thing I can think of, you are using a different Steam Account.
Hey man, in my new desktop, gta 5 is my first game I am transferring from my laptop, I did not have any folder named as common so zip created a new one, it is okay right?
I'm not the most tech-savy so please forgive me... What if I have multiple games that were originally installed on an external hard drive, and I want to move them to a new PC? Is there a similar process I can do where it doesn't necessarily install but prepares then discovers the game(s), if that makes any sense? I'm currently trying to install all my games on the new PC and it's taking a long time since it has to "reserve" space then individually download the various different game sizes. Basically, I'm downloading the games twice on the same external drive but on different PC's and I'm losing a lot of the extra space I originally had on my external drive...
@Official_Kianafernando, the only thing I can think of is to map that external hard driver to steam on your new computer. So, if your external driver was set up with Steam on the old computer, it may not be seeing them on the new. Use the steps I have in this video. But a little differnetly. Make another folder on the external drive. Move those files required from my video to that new folder. Then use the next steps to put them in the folder you have created from your new PC and Steam. This should recognize them and do the update thing. So when you click the install, it should discover it in your new steam folder that you are installig to from the new PC.
No. I'm not 100% sure but pretty close. This works on games you purchased. Even though you both own the game, you have a unique Steam ID attached to yours. You can try, but I don't think so. If you do and it works. let me know.

Country Health Care, if you are using the same Steam ID and this is not working, you should be able to just download the game again. This method worked for me on almost every game I have a few that I had to download. However, what you are describing sounds like you are using a different Steam ID.
How can I play a game on a PC that is not mine? Let's say I buy a game on my home computer then I go to a PC gaming business. Is there a way I can play those games on the PC I am paying for for a short time?
@elindigeno1215, are you asking if you buy a used PC game, can you play it? If that is the question, yes. The only issues is if a game has a registration key that is linked to a previous owner. That I would not know how to fix. Older games didn't do that.
@@Kaazoo71Games I currently don't own a gaming PC, but I found a place near my job where I can go. Pay to play. I was thinking about purchasing a game when I play near my job. Would the save data be only on my home PC or would it be saved to my steam, or epic account?

Does this work with games that have mods added to it? like assetto corsa?
@HailingTheHydra, I only know that it works on the games. Not sure about the mods.
Instead of using a USB drive, could this be done with a USB cord/wire?
@blackaxe8950, if you mean connecting a cord from one to the other, I've tried that and it didn't work for me. I did some research at the time and found out that it's not possible. I may be wrong, but that is what I found.
thanks@@Kaazoo71Games
will this method work if the steam id is different. the game is in friends library too but dont wanna download all of that again
@sathwikksk, no it has to be owed by the steam ID that is downloading/moving it
Thanks you dude❤❤🎉
You're welcome 😊
That was amazing . I will test it . Thx
Please do!
Really appreciate the help

can i use this method to transfer game in my other steam account?
Has to be the same steam ID/Name. Can't transfer from one account to a different one.
hi im trying to do this with A:MR, when i try installing the game on the new pc it it doesnt have that little screen thing and when i open it it doesnt have my progress
Just to verify, you are doing this on Steam? Also, you moved the files already? What screen thing are you referring to?
@@Kaazoo71Games yeah steam, moved both files into their catagories, the screen thing is the install screen and says where its getting installed on my computer and just an install button under it
Thanks for answering!
instead of saying install it says purchase. its making me purchase again or am i doing something wrong? please help
The only way it would not work is if you are using a "different" Steam ID/Name. Even if you do this wrong under your Steam ID, you would just have to install it, not purchase it because you already purchased it. So that is the only thing I can think of, you are using a different Steam Account.
@@Kaazoo71Games turns out i was being stupid. i was logged into my other account with a very similar name without realizing . thanks :)
Can i do this with a paid games like gta 5 or witcher 3? I Need answers
Sulevan, this works on any Steam Game. I've paid for all the ones I moved.
Does it transfer the addons you had on certain games like Garry’s Mod?
Boris Team, I can't say 100% sure but I'm pretty sure it does.
Does this work if i take it from my friend? It's a paid game but we both purchased it.
No. I'm not 100% sure but pretty close. This works on games you purchased. Even though you both own the game, you have a unique Steam ID attached to yours. You can try, but I don't think so. If you do and it works. let me know.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome! Alex Silva
Bro need help. me and my friend bought fc24 on steam but my wifi is so slow that it will take a week to download.can i transfer fc24 from my friends pc to mine with the same method you showed?pls help
Sorry. No that would not work. That is keyed to your friends steam account. Can't you hook up an ethernet cord to download it instead of using the wifi?
why mine only have update button
@ballesterosjake7165, I'm not sure. But if you click the update button, I believe (I'm not sure) it should see the saved moved file.
what if i just log into my steam account on the new pc. Wouldn’t I still be able to access my games?
@sanuparl2366, yes, the game, you would need to download then. This way, you have the game and saves
i don’t know what to do, i was playing it on my old computer and recently got a new computer and it says steam cloud out of date, on my new one, i don’t know what to do 😢, it says i played it on my desktop on a day and the save is not yet in the cloud (upload not started) i don’t know where to find the upload, it could create a conflict when the previous game progress successfully uploads
Legendary Destroyer123, I'm not sure. I found a video no UA-cam on this.

does it work on dead by daylight? i tried doing it with overwatch 2 and it worked but it didnt work for me on dead by daylight, i think did it wrong but does it work with dead by daylight
It should work on any game.
@@Kaazoo71Games okay thanks
Can i play the on both pc’s ?
@kraxxdzhx9923, you could but I don't believe the saved data would transfer to the cloud on some games.
I have an issue, I bought a steam game on one pc, and I want to move it to a new one without spending all that money again. When I try this method it doesn't appear in my steam library, any solutions?
Country Health Care, if you are using the same Steam ID and this is not working, you should be able to just download the game again. This method worked for me on almost every game I have a few that I had to download. However, what you are describing sounds like you are using a different Steam ID.
legend bro !! Thank you
No problem 👍
Thank you very much, it worked well
Glad it helped
@@elindigeno1215 if you buy it on Steam or Epic, it should be linked to "your" account ID. Then it should be available to download on a PC you buy. That is my guess, but I'm pretty sure I'm correct.
Great help
Thanks @Dr.mzeshanAli, 😀
can I use another steam account in the other pc?
Nobody, no, games are linked to one Steam ID/Account.
@@Kaazoo71Games well can I change the account ID later after that?
@@bro11995 I do not believe so. The games are registered to the owner id. Steam doesn't allow them to be transferred.
What if my old computer is broken?
@superbmemes2779, that I couldn't help you with. You would need to get the hard drive out and put it in an external hard drive case.
some reason when it goes discovering new files its not working and then starts redownloading the game?
Karvershen Eargambram, When I did it, it did the same thing, but it was not actually downloading the file, it showed downloading, but it was loading it from the external drive.
@@Kaazoo71Games alright, I'll just let it run and see what happens
@@karversh Sorry, that is best advice I have on this. As you can see in my video, it does work, just odd with the downloading but not actually downloading message.
Didn’t work for me. Steam options aren’t the same.
What do you mean by "Steam Options?"
I mean steam doesn't give me the option to click next and discover. The only option I have is to install (download) the game again.

Can’t you just download the steam game from steam on the other pc?
Dehq, absolutely, this is just quicker on the larger downloads. Mintes as opposed to hours for some large games.
Does this work for both online and offline games as well??
kwame Assad, the games I moved work both online and offline. I'm not sure I understand your questions. If it's one steam, it should work regardless of how you play it. I hope that helps.
Can also online games in steam
Are you saying you can online game and don't have to download the game?
@@Kaazoo71Games No, I can also do this method for online games
