Is this past the equestrian trail in the backcountry ? or is this inside the park on the marked trails? I spent some time in the backcountry but, was told by the rangers I couldn't camp off the main trails?
Beautiful scenery!! Love the rock formations! Caves always have an air of mystery about them. Part of their appeal, I would guess. Looks like you guys had a great adventure! Thanks for sharing it with us!
I think we saw y'all hiking that water up to the mesa on your first day. We had just come from measuring the depths of the Utah slots and were descending the mesa as y'all were going up.
@@RestlessWonderer I had my hiking stick with my Max on the end. We were descending and had made it to the signature rock with the fissure when we heard you guys above us. Y'all had gone further south so we missed your path. I remember seeing 2 guys with big packs and caring gallons of water. That later in the day we all knew y'all were heading to make camp.
That’s a beautiful canyon! Looks like a great place to explore ... you’re very brave going into those tiny, narrow slot canyons!! The power of water is amazing! New friend and subscriber from Washington 🥾🥾
For your info. I've finished my "official" depth measurements of the deepest slots in Palo Duro Canyon. Boulder and Utah slots are 19ft deep, Sunday Canyon Slot is 31ft deep, and the king of the slots in PDC is the Slender Man Slot at 35ft deep. The only thing that compares to Slender Man is the North Cita Narrows which someone measured a few years ago at 35ft deep. I didn't include those in my slot depth chart because they are more of a narrows versus a slot and are pretty far out of the park.
That is really cool information, and I appreciate it. I grew up going to PDC and my cousin and I love exploring the new area... those slots are awesome and are thankfully still pristine. You channel looks great by the way, and I will be catching up on some of those videos.
Question...I would like to just hike trails and pitch a tent along the trails in a couple spots. Is there a map? A web site? Where I can find these trails?
There is not a lot of info about it online, but they have opened up a spot at the back of the canyon (past water crossing 6) where you can park and hike in for backpacking. There are 20 permits available daily for "first come first serve".
Those canyons are incredible!! Love the rock formations. Cool spot for lunch. Great scenery out there. Really cool video 👍
That canyon really is awesome... different than the mountains around me, but soooo cool.

Uber cool petroglyphs!!
So cool to see that stuff!

It is a special place to me, and is not what most people think the Texas Panhandle looks like. Thank you for the comment.
@@RestlessWonderer It definitely looks special! Thanks for sharing!
This is so beautiful, thank you for sharing! Love seeing the wild sheep and petroglyphs!
The sheep were unexpected, and very cool to see... very beautiful place in the middle of nothing but flat plains :)
Excellent video. Glad to have found your channel.
Thanks, brother. I have been to a few punk shows in Texas back in the day :)
Amazing! 😯🤩
It looks surreal places.
agreed
Awesome adventure guys...👍😀
Thanks! It was a ton of fun 😀
That is “Central Utah” slot you found. Upper and Lower sections are 17 and 19 feet deep. Great vid.
Thank you for the info... looks like you have some nice videos of the area yourself!
Great video man. Love those spots.
I do too... PDC is a special place.
Cool trip. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, dude.
Greatness

We only saw one other group, so I may remember seeing you guys as well. Were someone in your group caring a selfie stick?

Looks amazing do you happen to remember the route you took and campsites you were at having trouble finding good places to stay and good routes
I really don't... my cousin had an idea, but we mainly used a GPS map since there is not signal out there.
Great channel!
Thanks, brother!

Thank you, friend! It is crazy what water can do with a little time :)

Is that a DJI Pocket OSMO you're using?
I was using a Zhiyun Smooth Q with my I-Phone.
What a dream, i love it 😊 new friend here 😊

I've been to PDC many times. Love hiking there. How did you guys get to the "backcountry camping" area. That looks freakin' awsome.
