    Good Stuff! Thanks for the run down on the Vikes, nice that they are competitive again. Cool seeing pics of Jarl Wulfric and his Bloody Band of Vikings. :-) I realize Vikings are a starting warband for many, I actually started playing Saga in 2014 as a way to play my Vikings. ;-) See ya at Adepticon!

      Thanks for watching Jason! I bet there are others out there who started playing Saga the same way!

    As always great content, love y’alls work on this stuff. Makes learning these other factions when you don’t get to regularly play possible.

    Vikings might be a large bag of hammers but they are good at being a bag of hammers. Valhalla is the Viking version of a Nuclear Weapon. Normally it goes off and everyone dies. I can see that Mike really wants to win tie breakers for who goes first.

    Loved this video, learned a lot about Vikings and how I have been making mistakes left and right lol

      Thanks William! There is a fair bit of Vikings chat in the last couple Rodge & Monty episodes as well. After playing them a for a good run, I don't quite align with Mike's assessment on everything.

      Rodge Rules I have seen a few times where playing the attrition game will bite you pretty hard with Vikings. I have played a game using Pagan Rus and they seem more enjoyable so far. Time will tell

    This was really useful and enjoyable, as a new player this is my "newbie" army and I will be referring to this often I think.

    Hey guys... I'm a german Player and it's interesting and a little bit strange to see that the german Battleboard says that ASGARD & NJORD is only for own units!!!

    • @RodgeRules
      @RodgeRules  6 років тому

      Wow, that is a huge difference!!

    Great video and enlightening comments from Mike. Vikings feel a lot tougher to play against in v2 which suits their legendary status in the Dark Ages much better. Their ability to remove fatigue easily is a serious pain.

    • @RodgeRules
      @RodgeRules  6 років тому

      Agreed! Some flat out nasty abilities mixed with several ways to ditch fatigue means you'll always be having a good fight on your hands!

    It's funny you named the video Thorsday because Thursday is Torsdag in Swedish which litteraly means Thor's day! (yes, the Thor we all know and love). You probably knew that already tho.

      Most of the days of the week are named after horse gods in English, but many native English speakers don't know it.
      Sunday is for sol, goddess of the sun,so Sun's day
      Monday is for Mani, goddess of the moon, so Mani's day.
      Tuesdat is for Tyr, so Tyr's day.
      Wednesday is for Woden, do Woden's day.
      Thursday is for Thor, so Thor's day.
      And Fridays is for Frigg, so Frigg's day.
      And Saturday comes from Roman.

    It is nice that they rebalanced the gsme from 1st ed. I think part of the "newbie" aspect is that you can look over the battle board, and figure out how to use them quickly. Some others take a lot of planning to make useful.

    • @RodgeRules
      @RodgeRules  6 років тому +1

      Great point! The Viking board is very friendly that way, everything will make you fight better! I have some serious analysis paralysis with other boards.

      @@RodgeRules People often associate beginner with not as good, but really it is just easier to start with. Like shooting, rifles are easier to fire accurately than pistols, so a good starting point, but you do not assume some guy with a rifle is not a pro (well, movies and tv seems to like to give the elite pistols, but not really how things go). Same for (using Japanese weapons, which are not my forte, but work for this) katana vs other weapons, a katana is a more forgiving cutter, so nicer for a beginner than many swords, and way less likely to bonk yourself in the head than nunchaku, though katana is still an effective weapon (not my favorite by any means, but it does do the job).
