  • What is postrenal acute kidney injury? Acute kidney injury (AKI) describes when the kidneys aren't functioning optimally, usually brought about within a few days. We've updated this video! The last version mentioned an obstructed ureter as a cause of postrenal AKI. While this is partially true, postrenal AKI doesn't typically develop unless both ureters have been obstructed. That being said, postrenal AKI more commonly develops as a result of an obstructed urethra, as opposed to obstructions in both ureters.

Here is what I don't get.....so even if the increased pressure damages the tubules still there is hight pressure inside the tubules thus less GFR, SO the less gets filtered out meaning more is in the blood....HOW COME THE Una is grater than 40, the same holds true for the BUN:creatinine, FeNa, and the concentration

So that means if i have beef for dinner and get an RFT in the morning ( lets assume my kidneys are working fine) i won't have high creatinine in my blood bcz kidneys reabsorb very little creatinine.

one of the best channel on youtube for medical professionals, really astonishing, gradually try to cover every disease especially autoimmune diseases.
i wanted to say that it would have been better that you guys make summarising notes for every topic you cover prefferably on your website so after watching the video we could just read those notes so we wont forget, as i am becoming doctor i have to memorise everything(each and every word and every detail) so i would be very helpful if there is such kind of thing short written form so we can make sure we havent forget anyting, thank you!

Hi Alicia, thanks for the feedback! We get a lot of feedback suggesting both faster and slower pacing, so we've settled on the current speed, for now. What a lot of people do is watch the videos at different speeds. For example, UA-cam allows you to set the speed at 0.75x normal speed, which people might like for note taking, or 1.5x speed, which people might like for listening to us at the gym. Anyways, hope this helps!
