VotV | Tutorial ARG Speedrun (0.7.0b3)

- Just a casual speed run I did going from the start of the tutorial to current final room in the Tutorial ARG (that's what I see most people calling it). I was averaging 15-20 minutes because I suck at parkour, but I did have this slightly over 13 minute mark. I could probably be quicker if I didn't stop to collect the tinfoil hat, all three skulls, or the UA-camr plush, but I like taking them to the end just for fun. I don't think all three together added more than a minute anyways. This wasn't a serious speedrun, just showing how quickly it can be done with knowledge and an hour of practice.
Besides the fun stuff, there are other obvious time saves that could be done; this run was far from optimized. I had very few strats actually planned for the run besides leaving all the capsules at the grate that opens and jumping inside of vents (timing is tough to be consistent on), but I think it went pretty well overall. Used to take me 45+ minutes to get even close to the end while following a tutorial (ironic lol), so this run makes me decently happy.
I did nearly restart at the really tall ladder when I kept falling down it (I even paused the game and everything), but I eventually got it. At the very end, I tried hitting "." on the keypad (normally teleports you to the start or to a secret room), but I guess it crashes your game in the Pipe World.

I see videos of people having no problem with it and I just cry in the corner. I'm just happy I only fell 4 or 5 times in this run 🙃
That pause I did there before I finally got it, I was like about to yeet my laptop into a wall lol. I honestly have no idea how that mid-air ladder grab thing happened tho, that was a miracle. Just wish I remembered to turn damage back before avoiding the water so I didn't ragdoll.

It can done a lot quicker too if you don't go for the plushes and skulls like I did. I got a run of around 9:28, but I'm embarrassed by how terribly I did at the last parkour (jumping from window to window) that I probably won't upload it lol. I think with perfect parkour, someone could do it in 6 minutes. Maybe even sub 6 with better strategies/routes when collecting stuff

That long ladder is a nightmare. It doesn't help that sometimes the game will occasionally crash after the fall for some reason.
What's funny is I never experienced any of these crashes until after I uploaded this run. During all my testing and practice, I didn't get one crash. Normally tho, I limited myself to 3 fails per level: I get 3 chances before putting the capsules down and going through the tubes, and I get 3 chances for anything after the maze. Any more than that and it's guaranteed to be slower.
That ladder fall is making me reconsider tho as it takes 15-20 seconds to climb back up. In such a short run, that's a make or break. I think I've finally found a trick to get it more reliably, but still not fun. Also seen in the video, there's a glitch where you can attach to the ladder while falling, saving time. Haven't found a reliable way to do that tho
I wonder if theres more? The thing at the end states "wrong place, wrong time" maybe theres a certain time and day you got to be in that room or another to allow yourself to continue?
That's just what the dev puts at the end of the tutorial stuff when he updates the game. It keeps getting moved further from one room to room

I could hear the panik taps on the keyboard the last time you climbed the big stairs hahaha by the way, Im just so surprised how big this place is, theres more hidden areas there than Ive seen on the normal gameplay map, I wonder how many unfound stuff is there yet

Idk, running from Arirals after you steal their stuff is pretty fun too lol. Getting the Miracle achievement is also a lotta fun

Why are people calling this an arg, btw? Is there some kinda external info given for why this is in the game?
Arg has kinda become the general name for meta type games or stories within another narrative. I doubt it has any real life connection; or at least I sure hope not considering some of those messages you can find.

i played the tutorial and got too scared to continue at one point because at the part where its teaching you how to actually do your job, i heard footsteps and water splashes and so i was too scared to look around to see what the hell made that noise
Bro at the moment at 10:23, you can not pull the grille with all your strength to the side, but just take the Crowbar in your hands and press the LMB when you try to tear off the grille, then it will come off stronger and faster. I just discovered this while I was playing

Technically it's already started. There are so many secret messages all over the place if you look in the right spots and read all the comment bubble things. I haven't seen anyone try and put it all together yet tho I'm surr someone has

How did you get through the three capsule part without taking any radiation damage?
Radiation damage was turned off during the tutorial in 0.7.0b3 so that you don't have to worry about dieing while collecting them

edit: 8:07 - you can spam the space bar and you're guaranteed to climb
edit 2: 10:24 - you can throw rocks at the bars to knock them out more easily (also, removing just one is enough to fit trough the gap)
No, that pool was never full of blood, there's a room later on that used to be where the 3rd capsule is picked up, but it was changed in 0.7.
I've tried that, the trick I'm learning is timing on the space bar helps. Spamming doesn't work for me.
You can't squeeze through with one bar gone, you need to at least move the 2nd bar over to squeeze through. Using items against the bars didn't work in any of my tests and if you grab the bars in the right way and throw, with some luck you can throw them out in 2 or 3 throws, quicker than using an item.

But the tutorial is still home to spooky stuff even without the arg. People have encounterd shadow men in it and even I had footsteps twice AND something walking in the water towards me. And it was my first time playing and late at night to. Frick I both love and hate this game! The aliens are bad enough I can't handle shadow people and i've seen one in the main game myself!
@@Guardian-of-Light137 Yep, that's the pool room I'm seeing. The footsteps you're hearing are a random spawning entity who's only purpose seems to be to make you feel scared and unsafe, I've encountered it many times, including on my first tutorial playtrough back in 0.6.2, and yeah... I sheit myself because I didn't know about it's existence back then. However, I know nothing about the shadow man in the tutorial level.

You probably need to update your game then. It was still bloody during the 0.7 pre-releases, but this is what the tutorial was changed to for 0.7.0b3

can these plushies transefered to story mode?
There's no mailbox that I'm aware of in tutorial to allow for that, but they may be spawnable in sandbox then transfered to story. I haven't beat the new 0.7 story quite yet, so I don't have all props unlocked

It's called an ARG because there are so many little secrets and hidden messages I of course skipped over. That's what the community is calling too even tho it's not done
