Random note: 15:31 Shoto's been calling him Endeavor but here he says dad 🥺🥺
Yeah, that's a great detail
I noticed that too
Shoto might've been starting to come around 😭
Literally right before Dabi showed up in this episode he called him Endeavor. 😭 so to see him call him dad with tears in his eyes hit my soul.
Nevertheless, Endeavor is a garbage abusive dad, even if he is trying to better himself, what happened to Toya is real and it is Endeavor's fault and he is going done somehow!
Shoto knows his father is a pos but he’s been trying to work things out since season 1 and even now still looks out for him while Endeavor still working through his issues. Shoto the maturest one out the family.
Shoto screaming and crying in the end BROKE me. He's always so quiet and composed but that scene... GOD. The Eren came out!
Eren can never escape him
He even calls him Dad instead of Endeavor or Old man
I swear I hear Eren during that scene.. thank God I'm not the only one 😂
his inner Eren really was showing this episode, lol
@@mentholnewport just like Eren calls his, heh.. but it's understandable. Shoto is just forming some bond with him. It's not gonna be chichi or otosan anytime soon, I guess.
Fun fact: when we first catch a glimpse of dabi, before we knew his name, he was first shown outside a beauty salon.
To add on to that they were talking about Stain on the news, foreshadowing Dabi’s reveal of being a follower of Stain’s ideals
@@melodychocolate3694 Reveal? That was literally the first thing we learned about him
@@austinbeale2054 Later on in the story when Dabi himself said that he was a follower of stain, people didn’t connect it to the moment when we first met him, I said foreshadowing since the news was a way to imply it without saying anything since they planned to state it later on
(then again, been awhile since I watched that moment and read the chapter so maybe I missed something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
@@melodychocolate3694 He said when he first came to the league that it was because Stain was connected to it, but so much happened since then it was easy to forget.
@@rjai5003 A few chapters back he literally tells Hawks "I am the embodiment of Stein's will"
A reveal so many saw coming but it was done in such a way people were still floored by it. Horikoshi at his best here.
YO...Toya and Shoto VA is do amazing job to bring all emotion in last scene🔥
shoto call endevor "FATHER" is something
Quirks can be passed down genetically but in some cases some can manifest a whole different quirk from their parents. For example eri is a good example of her having a whole unique quirk that doesn't come from her parents.
Also shiggy
Those are called mutation types
Can't believe we're on season 6 and she just realized that 🤣
Yep. Quirks are as predictable as our genetic appearances. In the MHA world, your quirk could mutate in the same way that an albino baby can pop up in a family of non-albinos. You can inherit a quirk from a more distant family member in the same way the red hair gene can skip a generation or two and pop up in a grandchild despite none of the parents being redheads. You can have the exact same quirk as one parent in the same way that you can be born only looking exactly like one parent, or you can have a mixed quirk in the same way that you can look like a combination of both your parents. While quirks do tend to be different with each person, that's not always the case, given how many people are on the planet. There are plenty of lookalike pairs in real life. If two people on the other side of the planet can have exactly the same facial features despite not being genetically related at all, it's definitely possible for completely unrelated people to have the same quirk in the MHA world. There are billions of people in the world, so there's bound to be some repetition here and there.
Quirks are generally passed down, but can mutate. For example, Todoroki basically just got 2 quirks, one from each parent, but Bakugou’s Explosion quirk is a combination/mutation between his parents: his mom can secrete Glycerin from her skin and his dad’s palms can secrete acidic sweat with combustive and explosive properties. Edit to add: There ARE exceptions to this with Eri’s quirk apparently being a complete mutation, not easily connected to her parents’ quirks.
also Shigaraki's quirk is completely different from his parents and grandparents, Nana had Float
Tokoyami too in some extant. His Quirk is Dark Shadow but he looks like a bird because his parents had mutation type Quirk that made them look like animals.
I waited 2 years for this to get animated and my god it was worth it. In all seriousness tho Hiro Shimono killed it with Dabi, he sounded great 😤
Wait it’s been 2 years since the release of that chapter? Sheesh time sure flies
@@Faetalis09 I came to ask the same thing, it{s been alot on the manga since then I just dont consider the amount of time 😂
@@Faetalis09 Yep it was Chapter 290 that came out 2 years ago!
@@sebastianzavaleta8039 You're right about time going by fast lol
Huh holy shit really?!?
A blast from the past for Endeavor as Dabi dances his way back into his life like a professional ballet.
Shoto crying trying to get his dad to move and protect his friends he’s not even telling him to attack Toya 😭
Seeing Endeavor so shaken up is pretty realistic ngl, I don't think many would act different in his shoes if you were to find out that the son you thought burned to death was alive but as a villain..
yup it has been established since season 2 that quirks are genetically passed down, that's one of the reasons why shoto hated endeavour in the first place. it was said when shoto and deku talked about shoto being bred to be number 1 hero by endeavour during the tournament arc
Since episode 1 actually. The doctor that diagnosed Deku as quirkless explained it too with the fact that Deku should have gotten a quirk based on one or both of his parents’ quirks
The fact that your cat is just sitting there chilling why you are freaking out is amazing. My cats would probably try to murder me if I did that lol.
exept.her.cat.knocked.over.her.mic.XD
To answer ur question, yes, Quriks are genetic mostly. A child can inherit one quirk from either the mom or dad or both (like Shoto). But there are rare exceptions like Eri, where her quirk to rewind things is completely unique to her, not inherited from either mom or dad. I'm pretty sure they referred to it as a "genetic mutation".
I think they also explained when Shoto and Bakugou where getting their hero licenses that with every generation of children, the quirks that get passed down get stronger and stronger as well.
Shimono Hiro KILLED his performance here, world class.
Endeavor saying he was looking for Touya yet proceeding to beat his other kids 🗿 Dabi/touya went through so much he ended up being my fav character. The more I learnt about him the mess I liked of the main cast, and Shouto used to be my fav😂
He will be DEALT WITH if I ever meeting him on the streets
Hiro Shimono and Yuki Kaiji went in with the voice acting (specially Shimono obv)
More of your questions about Dabi's backstory will be answered in a couple episodes and it's from his perspective and its pretty sad. We'll also be getting a Hawks backstory at the very end of this arc/beginning of next arc so no worries!
It wasn’t really a forced marriage, but it was a marriage that Endeavor helped arrange.
When this was revealed in the manga like 2 years ago, this is one of the three big things that fucking broke Twitter all in like the same week. November 2020: Canon Destiel, Dabi is Touya, Election Results
Also, to answer your question: Kind of. Most quirks are typically hereditary, usually it's either one, the other, or some combination of the two. Other times, they're more like anomalies; like a recessive gene that culminated over generations just hidden and popped up in one kid under just the right circumstances. Like red hair in a family where red hair isn't common or albinism. In cases like Midoriya, he got the right genes to be born quirkless. If you remember like Punnett Squares from middle school, it's like that. A new quirk and no quirk are like recessive traits while having a one-or-other quirk seems to be dominant, and a mix of two quirks is also slightly more common. Also, Endeavor and Rei were an arranged marriage, which you know, iffy at best, but was arranged with the intent to make kids with stronger quirks, which is technically eugenics, so more yikes. With two drastically differing quirks, 1 out of 4 kids being a perfect hybrid seems about right. I'd say it's a miracle they all survived; imagine a pre-schooler being able to conjure fire like it's nothing or a frost child not being able to keep themselves warm.
RIGHT?! Before the reveal people were fighting and debating if dabs was touya. Some people even said they’ll drop MHA if he wasnt lol.
People did predict dabi being touya but it’s still was a great reveal.
Man I remember those times, destiler and the touya reveal outtrending the us election results on twitter, it was wild
@@Malakai__WeLoveYouMafumafu I remember too 😂
I'm glad you got the Ochaco/Toga scene. Most people just chalk it up to a cat-fight over a boy with lackluster action. Toga is the way she is because of the quirk she was born with. Ochaco is in a tight situation where she needs to protect people and unconsciously solidify the harsh words of episode 1. Not all men are created equal.
The cat was scared for a moment that it was going to be smashed to pieces lol
Marriage of convenience is still sadly a thing, and as morally wrong as it is, it's far from forcing yourselves onto others, even Shoto said it back in S2, it's just Rei's prestigious family marrying their daughter to the No.2 hero purely for reasons of vanity, typical arranged marriage, not as awful as people thought, not even close to poor family in Indonesia selling their young daughter to rich old man for money. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but when Shoto talked about it in S2 most people here over Asia just thought "oh so it's an arranged marriage then", but everyone in the west just like "OMG HE R*PED HER!?!?"
Another thing I love is how MHA portrayed Insanity comes slowly, Endeavor started off like any overbearing father in most teenager movies, putting their own hope and dream onto his children, but he's still a normal guy, Touya was happy because of course anyone would be happy if their dad the No 2 hero told them they have the potential to be even greater than the No 1 hero, and he was normal around his wife too, even listened to her suggestion of having more kids for Touya's sake
But only after multiple failures, he was slowly driven insane by anxiety and desperation, until Shoto was finally born, then he doubled down on the training, to a point it's not even suitable for any kids. Of course there's more details on how Endeavor as well as Rei slowly went insane in later episodes which involved Touya, but that would be spoilers
That should all be covered by the midpoint of the next cour, but yeah. I’d even go so far as to say that everyone was content with the arrangement, until Toya’s body was discovered to not be compatible with fire. Then it all just spiraled completely out of control.
7:40 he looks...FFFFINEE like that!
HONEY, I FELT THE SAME FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS FROM THE MANGA. Seeing this animated made me simp for him even more.❤❤❤❤😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
12:15 Not all quirks are completely unique but most tend to be inherited, that’s why quirks like eri’s quirk rewind or shigi’s decay are considered mutations, cause they deviate from what was expected to be inherited from their relatives, and bakugo’s is unique in a less rare way, his parents quirks are related to types of acids that combine to make nitroglycerin which is why he inherits it, its a combination of the two
Now that you mention it, it seems like quirks do get inherited genetically, Mirio came to mind his dad has the same quirk, Bakugo’s parents also have his quirk, Earphone Jack as well. Nice observation, totally flew over my head…
Well in Bakugo’s case his quirk is a combination of parents’ quirk
This was cover in season one…
Quirks can be the mom's Quirk, the dad's Quirk, or more often a combination of the two in some way. For example, Jiro's Quirk is the same as her mom's, Mika, at least visually. And Mirio's dad mentioned that he had his same Quirk when he said he gave up on being a hero. And in very very very rare occasions, you get people like Shigaraki or Eri, whose Quirks are mutations that resemble nobody in the family.
HE CALLED HIM DADDDD😭😭😭
I reacted the same way when todoroki saying kyojin😂😂😂
We're getting twice the content per video people, you can either watch Lala's reaction or the cats going crazy with the ball or by her reactions😂😂
It makes sense that the dye would take so well his hair is white lol
I mean I knew it was coming but I didn’t expect it to be this episode. The amount of times I had to PAUSE because I FREAKED OUT this has to be my favorite ep in this whole series THE VOICE ACTING ON DABI AND SHOTO???? INSANE, and Shoto at the end just broke me, him crying and screaming Dad ?? I don’t know what to do with myself
A child can have:
1: A quirk inherited by one of the parents ( the most common case )
2: A fusion of the two parents quirks ( a bit more rare. It's the case for Shoto or Katsuki )
3: A quirk that have absolutely nothing to do with either of the parents ( like Eri )
Okay this is so out of topic but your cats 😂😂😭 I can't. They are too wild, I love them😍😍
Shimono Hiro SLAYED this season as Dabi. Even rewatching it just so cool
THE CATS IN THIS VIDEO OMFG BAHAHAHA
Dabi says Endeavor forces his wife to have more kids but shes the one that actually wanted more
Dabi's Prominence Burn would have turned Shoto and Endeavor into Ash 100%
people often miss it but Toya was the favorite son and Endeavor only became super abusive after his death. yeah what Endeavor did was terrible but some people really believe Endeavor was always a bad person and his redemption is unfitting
in season 2 it is stated that the marriage was forced with money but that doesn't mean that endeavour didn't love her
bro cancelled his family on twitter
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dabi looks sooooo fine with that whitish hair of his xD
If I remember correctly, the mom's family was poor so Endeavor payed to have an arranged marriage to get her frost quirk so in that way it was forced
Everyone:focused on lalafluffbunny and the anime
Me:what the cats doing
Your cat was as excited as you were😂
ah, I was waiting for this revelation for soo long. It's even better in the anime! Hiro Shimono and Yuki Kaji really nailed this.
say what you want, but Dabi's rant towards endeavor was HARD as hell. he was making key points.
3:52 - 4:36 = Finally, an MHA fan with reading/watching comprehension who doesn't call their interactions cringe just because the word "romance" was mentioned and is actually paying attention to all the words that are being spoken
Dabi still has the DNA test and the video of Hawks killing Twice.
Lala your cat from strat is always runing around LOL🤣🤣
9:50 the cat is paying attention to the episode xDD
New MHA fan xD
Finally someone acknowledges how tragic Toga's nature is. She is the way she is, because of her quirk and suppressing her urges made everything worse. I never liked her to begin with, but I understand why she's the way shy is and I can't help but empathize with her. Such a sad character.
Im glad u recognized the nuance regarding the endeavor part
Alot of the other reactors assumed he was capping in that bit where he was narrating about his feelings about toya and fuyumi and stuff but more context will be added to it over time
Endeavors character is really interesting
First he was horrible and bought his wife from her family
He was a good husband treated her well and they were actually in love at first
They had touya and he was seemingly a good father even while training him
Touya “dies” and that’s what fucks Endeavor up so bad the death of a child can really break a parent
He becomes abusive because he went crazy and maybe even is trying to get shots to succeed him not not JUST because he want to beat All might but also so that his child didn’t die for nothing
Voice acting was OUT OF THIS WORLD😭😭😭😭
Silent message from Toya Todoroki (Dabi) to his father (Endeavor): You did not kill Toya Todoroki. I did.
Also Quirks are typically passed down, but when two parents have separate quirks, the child can sometimes receive only one of the parents quirks, or a mutation of both of them.
Beat Jeanist is back and fighting with one of his lungs gone!
I’ve been waiting for this moment to be adapted 🔥
I don't think I'll ever reach that natural high I had whilst reading ch 290, (The name of this episode.) I laughed, I jumped up and down, I ran laps around the house, I danced. Seeing and hearing this episode was like overstimulation, but the good kind. Hiro Shimono had me LOOSING it he did such an phenomenal job.
It’s always crazy to me that zenitsu and dabi share the same voice actor
Dabi's first appearance he was leaving a beauty salon.
Yes quirks are genetic that’s why he married an ice person
A lot of people don't get how they're just like Look Here Kid's Shark Friend with what they're thinking and saying about Endeavor; "Whoever talks first, wins, whether or not it's true can wait". Because the story started off by showing Enji as an abusive father, everyone thinks that these events MUST be the truth, but they don't understand that it's only HALF the truth, and it's much more nuanced then it appears, they however don't care whether or not it's true, they're angry and want to express it.
12:27
So to answer your question, quirks can be passed down genetically. In most cases kids inherit either one of their parents' quirks or get a combination of both which is shown through the Todoroki family. Fuyumi got her mother's quirk, Toya got his father's quirk and Shoto got a combination of the two.
There are also occasional mutations where the child doesn't get either one of the parents' quirk and develops a completely new quirk. This was the case for Eri and Shigaraki where the former got 'rewind' that activated unexpectedly and killed her dad while the latter got decay and killed his entire family in his confusion and rage.
Since quirks are, at their core, genetics there are quirks that are very similar to each other even if the two people involved are not related by blood. Similar to how we have people who look very similar to each other even if they aren't related in the real world. And some quirks are more rare than others with quirks like AFO being very rare considering there seems to be only one and OFA where it was artificially created by mashing different quirks together making it completely unique. As stated in this episode, it seems fire related quirks are very common meaning Endeavor didn't have enough reason to think Dabi could be his dead son Toya.
Also side note, Best Jeanist being alive still won't affect the main point of Endeavor's past. Toya not only provided proof of his past through the blood test but he also showed that Hawks killed a villain. And while it could be shrugged off as 'it was a villain that was killed' and 'the paternity test could've been forged' the damage has already been done. Dabi revealed this information at the heroes' lowest point with there being so many casualties and destruction that they couldn't prevent. Peoples' faith in heroes was already wavering due to their 'incompetence' and Dabi revealing everything was the last straw. Now even if Endeavor and the heroes deny everything people will still be thinking about it in the back of their minds. Their faith in heroes won't be restored easily and hero society would crumble in all the doubt.
im sure a lot of comments have already answered the quirk question
and the answer is exactly why the people in the series thought of the "quirk doomsday theory"
since it's a mix of passed down quirks + uniqueness
^^ well that's how i see it anyways
At this point, Mr Compress having a "special linage" can only mean one thing....ALL MIGHT'S SECRET LOVE CHILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One thing some one has defintely already brought up is Shoto himself mentioned back in S2, how Endeavor forced his mom to marry him in a quirk marriage.
Most quirks are directly inherited from one parent or are a mixture of both parents abilities. Times like Eri or shigaraki where a random power just suddenly pops up are the exception. For example jiro’s mom also visibly had the same earphone jack quirk as her, and iida’s descends from a whole family of hero’s with the same engine quirk as him
Re:Endeavor allegedly "forcing" his wife to marry him, this is probably mostly an assumption on Dabi's part based on the context of his life and his mother's behavior. However, it IS true that the marriage was a very traditional arranged marriage based around Rei's quirk, and I think it might have been mentioned that Rei's parents specifically were involved with it? Enji is 46 and Dabi is currently 24, so Touya would have had to have been conceived when Endeavor was only 21, presumably some time after his marriage to Rei. Rei doesn't OFFICIALLY have an age, but a weird fact about the parents in BNHA is that the wives/mothers are almost always younger (according to the ages of parents/married couples given by Horikoshi). Given how young they were married and had kids, if Rei was even a couple years younger than Enji that... gets pretty dicey, even though Japanese girls can get married from age 16 with parental consent.
And yep, typically quirks are passed down genetically, though not always the exact quirk and like anything else genetic, not always directly from the parent. This is the whoooole reason Endeavor had kids, and kids specifically with Rei. Which, yknow. The whole concept of a quirk marriage is essentially applied eugenics, hoping to pass on the "desirable" traits and get rid of the "undesirable" ones. In this case, Endeavor only having kids because he wants to pass on his quirk but negate its weaknesses (by having children with Rei, whose quirk could counteract his quirk making him overheat).
Even now when Endeavor is remorseful for what his abusive behaviors have done to his family, his viewpoint is still kind of fucked up (imho). Since he's saying that Touya could have been the one who made Endeavor's dream come true, but you shouldn't have kids only to fulfill a purpose for you, although granted plenty of parents do that in real life. Touya shouldn't have been EXPECTED to fulfill Endeavor's dream, regardless of whether or not he could have been capable of doing so. Shouto's reaction is the most gut-wrenching for me though. On one hand, Shouto would have been only around 5 when Touya "died", but on the other hand, that's still his brother and he's still clearly upset. And although Endeavor is understandably frozen with the shock, that still means that Endeavor's teenage "puppet", as Dabi put it, is being made to put aside his own emotions and face the problem his father created, which he shouldn't have to do.
I was worried about how well this scene would be adapted in the anime, but this episode killed it! Loved seeing your reaction.
"Are quirks passed down genetically?"
Bruh an entire Todoroki Shoto is there as an answer to that question lmao 😂
I never thought of Best Jeanist using huge spools of thread lol that's kinda op!!
Dabi has a point though. The past doesn't go away. Endeavor has been running from his mistakes for a while now. Time to face the past.
9:35 nah that arc where Lucy's celestial keys bugged out and grey ended up have a dance fight with one of em was hilarious man thought he was Michael Jackson
It's so nice to finally see this animated
It’s genetics, the child gets aspects of their parents quirks and they combine making their own quirk. For example bakugo, his mother can secrete glycerin from her skin and the father has acidic sweat with explosive properties in his palms. Combined bakugo got his quirk, he sweats nitroglycerin , which can explode, from his palms
Yes quirks are genetic, Lida and Bakugo are perfect examples
Still a part of the Todoroki story we haven't seen yet, but I'm pretty sure we get it this season. Great episode for making a 'reveal' that everyone figured out ages ago still hit like a freight train. VAs killed it, animation was solid, season 6 still going hard.
Absolutely love ur reactions 🔥❤️
Yea quirks are genetically inherited mostly, but they can also merge together to form new ones (like if the parents or ancestors had 2 different quirks) or be completely random mutations independent of their ancestors, and generally with each generation quirks have become stronger and stronger, when they first appeared most of the powers were very minor, like the first person to be born with a quirk was just a power that made them shine like a light, but now in the present time you have people like Shoto or Bakugo that have very powerful quirks.
So to explain quirks: Most commonly traits of the parent's quirks or a fusion of the parent's quirks are passed down. But in some RARE cases, such as Eri, there will be a mutation, and that child will get a completely unique quirk. Tokoyami for example, his quirk Dark Shadow has nothing to do with the bird head, but potentially one of his parents or his grandparents had a bird related quirk.
Bakugo's quirk Explosion is a fusion of his dad's quirk nitrate and his mom's glycerin. Bakugo's quirk allows him to sweat something similar to nitroglycerin to make explosions.
Endevor really did force Rei to marry him, it was an arranged marriage: He bought her parents with the money he had.
With quirks is a mixed bag, but it's mostly inherited. There are a couple of options when the baby is born: Either they get the mother's quirk, the father's quirk, both of their quirks (Shoto's case), their quirks combine to create something else (Bakugo's case), they are born quirkless (Deku's case), or they get something complately new (Eri's case)
He didnt push Rei to have more child, she proposed to have more becuse she tought having sibling encouragin each other was a good thing
The irony was that Endeavor made Dabi to crush the Number 1 hero at the time which was All Might. Now, he did, Dabi is crushing the Number 1 hero which is currently Endeavor
Literally, you reap what you sow.
In manga they only showed the pilot but not Best Jeanist so his entrance would be more epic. Showing him at the beginning of the episode like that annoyed me as much as them censoring some of the damage Deku did to Shigaraki during previous episodes lol
Dabi really talked all that shit just to get shut down by the world's no.1 tailor
From what I remember, you are born with your own quirk/your parents quirk/ a mix of your parents quirk
As far as quirks passing down, it seems to be kids either inherit aspects of one or another parents quirks, a combination of both, or in rare cases, something totally unique. Families like Ida seem to all inherent the same basic quirk, with minor difference between individuals. When Deku was brought to the doctor to figure out why his quirk wasn't manifesting, the doctor asked what quirks his parents have, probably so that they have an idea of what his quirk might be if its not something that manifests visibly or obviously.
Endeavor opened his hero agency that invites othe fire quirk users in hope of finding toya some day...
Quirks are passed down genetically, you can inherit one parents quirk or a combination of both your parents quirks. But you can inherit a mutation which usually results in a quirk unrelated to both parents (example Eri)
ok that's what I wasn't sure about. Like I initially understood them to be unique so even a combo would make sense. But ya I noticed here that kids can share 1 of their parent's quirk
Quirks get passed down or inherited genetically. If I’m not mistaken, Bakugo’s quirk is a result of the mix of his parent’s quirks
Dabi : *"I'd kill3d over 30 innocent people...!!!"*
Lala : *"That's a good look on you tho 🥰💅🫶!!!!"*
@9:22 Hahahahahahah 🤡🤡🤡😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i can't!! Hahahahahaha!!!
quirks are inheritary, but on rare occasions something unrelated gets given.
Gray Fullbuıster, Dabi and Dante from Devil may Cry need to have a dance-off
they explained in the earlier seasons that quirks most the time are passed on genetically as some variant of one of your parents quirks. And that sometimes the two quirks can merge into a new quirk that has both abilities. And sometimes rarely people will be born with a new quirk that has nothing to do with their parents. That is the whole point of Shoto, Endeavor married his wife purposefully to produce a child who had his fire powers but none of the weakness of the overheating.
6:20 u r too precious for words... and yes this must be insane for Eren Todoroki lol
UR CATS 💀💀😭
If I recall correctly endeavor did pay or buy his wife because of her quirk. Season 1 covered this.
10:19 IKR he looks so good in that scene i had the same reaction lmaoo
Quirks come from an additional factor in human's gene that quirkless people don't have. Technically when you pass down gene to your children your also pass down quirk factor. For eg: Bakugo's quirk is the merged version of his mom's, which makes people sweat more, and his dad's, which makes sweat explodable.
