    Thanks for your review (as always). Saw this first pop up on IG covering one of the Coffee expos - and it looked really cool. Looks like it is well built, and does a good job. I guess if $ isn't an issue, then would look great on your countertop. I've been happy with my DF64V (and is less than 1/2 this price)

      @coffeechronicler  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks Brent! Yeah, after DF64V it's really diminishing returns on all parameters, so you have to be really into this espresso profile.

    • @brentroman
      @brentroman 8 місяців тому

      @@coffeechronicler Yeah - I decided to get the DF64V in order to get an espresso-specific flat burr grinder. I already have the Sette270, which I like, and so can get conical profiles with that. And I use my SSP/Stepless-modded Ode for filter. (apart from when I manually grind).

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  8 місяців тому +1

      The Sette is excellent for conical espresso, so it sounds like you have all bases covered. I currently run DF64V with SSP Cast and it's really the perfect allrounder with those burrs. Not to mention much less noise. @@brentroman

      One of the big selling points for me with the DF64V were that the stock burrs were those DLCs. I haven’t felt the need to swap them out, and while I do like my Sette 270, the DF64V is surprisingly quiet! Sometimes it’s even hard to hear if it’s on without any beans in the chamber. Pretty impressive.
      I HAVE felt though that the DF64V really benefits from RDT.
      Also- there really is a seemingly “seasoning” period with the stick burrs. Before I went through a bunch of beans, the static was noticeably more than it is now.

    Great review as always!
    I wonder how this would be like on a commercial setting?(ie. constant back to back shots)

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  8 місяців тому +1

      They are a little bit vague on this. Given that the Niche is often used that way with a weaker motor, I'd assume light commercial duty should be okay.

    any thoughts on how to decide between Timemore 078S and DF64 Gen2? For both filter & espresso

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  8 місяців тому

      I only have direct experience with 064s and 078. But overall, I guess that 078s, like the other two, is offering some of the best value at its price points. A plus for the DF64 Gen 2 is the better dial-in range for espresso and more burr options. But hard to go wrong with any of these.

    I wonder how does iit hold up to top conicals and hybrid grinders like Weber Key, Kafatek MC6, Versalab m4(or Titus/Hedone Honne) and Molar X and X2 and is it a Niche killer?

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  8 місяців тому +2

      I don't have a direct head-to-head comparison at home with these titans, so hard to make a call. And you'll never hear me mention Niche killer, but more flavor separation, yes ;)

    Do you think it would be a good companion to an electric siphon? I Feel standard v60 filter coffee just lacks the body for me.

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  7 місяців тому

      Don't think this grinder will be the answer. Try my Hario Switch technique first and see if that helps. That will be a lot cheaper than getting a new grinder :)

    • @Val_Smith
      @Val_Smith 7 місяців тому

      @coffeechronicler I will try blocking v60 hole for immersion, but think the paper filter will not let oils and small ground through resolving in thin body.

      @@coffeechronicler thx did the stall and fall from on Hario switch it is good. Also got a dedicated 078 for pourover.

    Interesting - some other reviews say it is a stepped grinder (it snaps "into step" when locking) with about 25 microns, which is much.
    You are sure it is stepless?

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  11 днів тому

      Yes, the unit I have tested is stepless. I don't know if they have changed it since then, but don't think so.

      Wow, thank you for the ultra-fast response.
      On their homepage they say "Stepped adjustment with safety lock" and also "Stepless-feeling grind size dial"
      This is a bit misleading on their part.
      However, thank you for your content, got my 1zpresso K Ultra "because of you" and it is indeed great

      When you see how much Molar X or Titus cost you might rethink. It costs around the price of Webber key, has better workflow. But if they would have priced it at 1000k they could dominate the market.
