Like Avalaraeon said - "track assign" feature allows you to load any "recorded take" (from any project) to any empty track. It saves you the need for changing input for each take, and also enables the "pre-mix" technic - record 8 tracks, mix them into R/L main-mix, then assign it to a any linked (stereo) channel (XY, 1/2, 3/4, etc.) then record new 6 tracks and so on, like with the 4trk tape recorders back in the old days ;-)
Hey! There is a feature in the menu called “track assign”, either the whole mix down or one file from any part can be transferred to a new file and expand your tracks!
How do I get there? I would like to use one mike for a series of intsruments, without changing the mic-input every time... so: mike input one, recording on track 1 and then assign track 1 to say track 4 and use the mike for track 1 again and so on...
Nice, Im testing it right now, configuring wireless, studio, dynamic and shotgun and phanton microphones, once im familiar with it I will try to connect to the computer.
Hi, thank you for video. How would you make a set up for live gig recording (2 guitars, 2 mikes) with H8? I need to have a sound via speakers in the venue (PA) but if I plug in instruments and mikes in H8...how to pass it on to mixer and PA? Thanks,....
You can get a mic splitter , like the Berlinger MS 8000 (cheap) or Art S8 to bring your mics thru to the recorder, then split the channels to your mixer. Just be mindful of input levels.
Brilliant, thanks for the review. This answers my question about recording different instruments at separate time (not same time all-band recording). I usually record music with just 2 tracks: guitar and harmonica, so maybe 8 tracks is too much for me. Which portable recorder with 2-4 tracks that let you record one track after the other would you recommend? I would be happy to get the H8 if the audio quality is better though. Cheers!
To me, the device serves as a sketch pad. I like to play in the morning before work, and sometimes have the best ideas for loops and licks.. Need to record them - but also in a useable fashion. So with a metronome and putting some supporting tracks to it, back from work, importing in my actual DAW and work from there. Also: field recording And: recording band rehearsals in multitrack. Again as reference material and as wel all know, sometimes genious sh*t happens during rehearsals, one needs to capture that ;) all in all a good investment. A standalone fully fledged multitrack studio it is not, is also lacks edit and looper functionality, which I guess could be easily implemented, but that was not envisioned for this device.
I recently bought one from amazon and noticed that the preamps are quite noisy, but I don't know if that's because it got defective. How's yours going with that?
Yea! There is a noise only when you push your faders above "0" level. Above "0" is "+dB; while below "0" is "-dB". Q: WHERE IS THE "0" LEVEL? On all ZOOM Handy sets "0" level is at the mid point (around "5"). So don't push beyond mark "5" ; you will see your noise disappears. Otherwise the sounds in all handy sets are clean.
Hello. Have a good time I had a question about the Zoom H8 In the music mode, when we record the sound on the memory card, the effect is recorded, but the equalization is not applied Is this part of the factory settings? Please advise. Thanks a lot
Man that gave such an example of the power of this device. Thank you and much success to you musically.

Can you drop in an externally made wav file ?

Just bought the H8 - arriving this afternoon - your video is a great reference thanks very much for sharing
Sounds great! Love the music
Thanks so much for this. Great demo!
Very cool!
I am thinking about picking one of these up.
Cool song! 😁
I like the jam you made. Good creativity!
Thanks so much!
You can set a chain fx to send, then on each track mix in fx that way
Cool, mate! Plan to buy one as well.
So cool.
I thought you were Mike Mangini !!! Thank you for the demo.
Nice bossa
Do you have to create, name and setup a new project or does it create and name the new project every time you hit record (like on the h6)?
Very nice 👍
Fun video! 8 tracks. 2 chords! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome tune dude!! Thanks for this video! One love ✌️
Can you hook up a speaker or everything thru the headphones? Hook up a speaker for playback
Great groove!
Would you happen to know if it's possible to use as an interface for say, Logic?
Yes it is👍
Great demonstration! Thank you!!

Great “real world” review, mic pres sound clean and it seems like a great way to get jamming on some multi tracks
@zoomsoundlab
Impressive!! Nice track!!
hey awesome! just wondering whether i can apply 2 separate effects to 2 different inputs?

maybe check out the H6

Hi, Thank you so much for your great videos. Did you connected your microphone to the Zoom H8?
Just got mine 2day
good!! so basically it s 6 tracks/ project?
Can all instruments record at the same time?
I recently bought one from amazon and noticed that the preamps are quite noisy, but I don't know if that's because it got defective. How's yours going with that?
i hadn't noticed more noise than my api preamp but i'll double check if i get a chance.

Amazing job here man.

Hi! is it possible to use the h8 zoom native microphone at the same time as condenser Mic?
I am torn between this and the zoom L8. Why this you get H8 instead of L8?
thanks :)
Chick Corea !
Great video, cheers!
is it possible to play a keyboard into the zoom and listen to the keyboard through zoom as you play it
Yes, in REC standby
Can I add fx to music tracks after recording and if so, how do i do this...I have tried and no success. Many Thanks Davy
You can do it in Audacity but then you'd have to mix everything in Audacity
Great video! :)
Sounds Nice 👍
From Germany Berlin 🙋🏻♂️
"THE" Zoom?!!
Very good
Hippy reggae 😅
You need a looper more than this device for what you doing. No offence but it sounds silly
Great. We will bring you to inauguration of Biden in 24. Man has to have peaceful music, keep the guy sleepy
