    Your video just came up and I have really enjoyed watching it and listening to your tips March 1st 2021. You have a lovely calm quiet voice and I found myself calming down and relaxing as I listened. These are very good tips and well thought out and presented. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I like to hand sew and like using hexigons but have not yet made anything big by myself as I never was able to afford a lot of supplies at one time and also have limited space. Now at 60 and retired due to ill health I have time and some room in my budget for a hobby so I'm hoping to create a small space and treat myself to some regular sewing time. Your video is easily the best I have seen for people like me and I am not so afraid of the commitment and costs as I can learn to plan like you. God bless you Julie. Vera from Northern Ireland.

      Hi Vera, I am sorry you have had to retire due to ill health. I am in the same boat and am also nearly 60. I wish you luck in your sewing ventures and I am glad my videos are of some help to you.

    That quilt looks adorable. I enjoy doing more small pieces. I am not patient enough to make a large one! LOL. In the US you can get fabric much less expensive. Like 11 to 12 dollars a yard which is a little less than a meter. But I am sure the shipping is crazy. I do enjoy your quilting. Such beautiful quilts you make!

      Thank you very much Kathy for watching and commenting. I can get cheaper fabric here but the quality isn't great so I prefer to pay more and get decent fabric.

    Thanks for the advice! I am just starting and trying to figure out how to store the pieces I have started collecting and am definitely going to try and keep an eye out for those storage drawers! Love the use of colours in your quilt!

    Hi Julie, I am a new subscriber also in Melbourne. I’m busy with my first quilt, am hand sewing. I’m doing a picture memory quilt with photos and stories for my grandbaby. I have already spent well over $1000 but I have a lot of material left because I didn’t have a clue what I needed. I cannot go cheaper because I’m so invested already. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. If you have any other tips for hand quilting I’ll appreciate it. Thank you

    Wow. You guys have such expensive fabric. A yard of fabric here we can pick up on sale for a few dollars. I can't imagine.

    • @juliethornton
      @juliethornton  3 роки тому

      It all depends on where you buy it from and what quality the fabric is. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    My goodness fabric is expensive for you! 1 meter is roughly equal to 1 yard and I couldn't afford to do a project with 20/yard fabric right now. Lucky my local shop has deals and has cheaper fabric cost wise. I don't really know much about brands and what not since I'm super new.
