    One big thing of widebody is, that for a lot of cars you get different, with more downforce possible, splitters, side skirts, wings and even diffusers on some cars.

      Yes exactly, these results will vary based on the car used as well as parts selection. However the trends should remain the same

    I want to add something I've found out while making my cars, for Example: The R32 GTR and Countach 25th, without the widebody fully tuned have steering issues where the wheels dont completely turn, when you do widebody both cars the turning is noticeably sharper and has more of a radius. idk what cars it works on, but those are two that I actively know.

    • @AKK5I
      @AKK5I Рік тому +11

      Probably because you have racing suspension and you lowered your car too much. With a widebody it flares out the fenders and allows the wheel to turn without rubbing the body (which would cause steering issues)

    • @simply-komeiji

      @@AKK5I Yep, i think so. at least on my builds.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Рік тому +6

      The tire rubbing on the body is influenced by the wide body for sure! Most of the time in a positive way however some cars you will need to adjust the ride height and/or frequency to prevent the tires from rubbing against the fender

    • @frantz4g63
      @frantz4g63 Рік тому +3

      @AKKSI you hit the nail on the head. Raising the ride height in the front, stiffening the natural frequency in the front, increasing negative camber in the front, raising the damping ratio (compression) in the front, decreasing damping ratio (extension) in the rear, less downforce, less front weight distribution and especially stiffening front anti-roll bars (for cornering and body weight transfer). It's pretty awesome that they allowed so much freedom with just a few, yet complex modifications to affect the car in such a major way. When the game released, I was picking my brain out through my ears trying to wrap my head around it, but when I applied realistic and logical thinking of how suspension and weight transfer works, it instantly made sense.

    This is an awesome test, great work!! I will still always use widebody and wide tire. I feel the gain in grip through turns is going to out outweigh the drop in top end speed, especially such a small drop. Also that is actually beneficial on a road course, you are going to have increased braking performance. I definitely feel the pros outweigh the cons and we don't have many events that are just very long straights too often. Plus it looks much better wide!!

  • @TheSilverShadow17

    Having a wide tire offset does affect the handling to some extent with cars that allow the option. The Ferrari P4 for example felt a LOT more controllable with the wide offset than without it. Plus it looks as if it was built for it too.

    From the visuals it seems tire width only increases with wide body if you put on aftermarket rims (note it’s very obvious on cars such as the pantera)

    • @DoodRacing

      This would make sense given the cornering performance difference between those options and everything else.

    • @presinald
      @presinald 10 місяців тому

      Was just about to say this is pretty much it, 80-90% of cars with stock tires the wide body offers nothing or typically hurts it a bit PP wise as it doesn't change the wheel spacing or size at all it just flares the body out which if PP is any indication likely just increases propensity for body roll. But as soon as you fit custom wheels you get the proper spacing and upgraded tire size, and wide tires when it works just adds a bit more.

  • @roborbob2913
    @roborbob2913 Рік тому +1

    My understanding is that the offset simply widens the track of the car, which helps when using standard wheels.

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Рік тому

      It definitely helps a lot. On cars with wide body equipped it basically accounts for 90% of the performance increase.

    • @roborbob2913
      @roborbob2913 Рік тому

      @@DoodRacing also depends on the car. Some with wide bodies can take the aftermarket wheels wider , but not wide offset, which interferes with steering, but on most cases it certainly does help. With the wide body beetle it seemed to work well with standard wheels and wide offset or aftermarket wide wheels and no offset, if that makes sense, as it would severely understeer if I had wide wheels and wide offset 🤔

    • @Bread_45
      @Bread_45 9 місяців тому

      Is it possible that the offset option, actually gives a wider offset when wide body is already equipped?

    • @roborbob2913
      @roborbob2913 9 місяців тому

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Рік тому +2

      Purely from feeling and not so much testing, and taking input from other tuners I know. It feels like body rigidity definitely stiffens the chassis under heavy cornering, acceleration and braking loads. Essentially if you’re familiar with the anti roll bar settings, if you have your roll bars set to 10 and 10, if you put rigidity on its now the equivalent of 12 and 12.
      Back when suspension tuning affected the pp system, when you increased your roll bars settings on many cars the PP rating would go down. And now on most cars when rigidity is equipped, the pp rating goes down by a similar factor which kind of backs the theory I made above.
      On most high performance cars, and especially on tracks that are flat with very little bumps. Body rigidity is a net positive as it allows you to get a stiffer chassis which will allow for better weight transfer and aerodynamic efficiency. (which I do believe GT7s physics accounts for)

    • @DoodRacing
      @DoodRacing  Рік тому

      I would say in cars below 350-400hp it may be worth having the extra pp to add power, shed weight, or add front downforce. In cars above that hp, the extra low speed traction paired with the extra lateral grip from wide body is more important.
      Also adding 20 hp when you’re already at 700hp has less of a positive affect then adding 20hp to a car with 250hp. The higher the power level the more worth it the wide body is in my opinion.
