    I've been super curious to see how these work. We sell them at my work, but I don't really know of any artists that use them. They look super smooth.

    • @lela.the.artist
      @lela.the.artist  5 років тому +5

      They definitely are super smooth! I definitely recommend trying out one of the smaller packs to see how you like them. I definitely took a big leap into buying the 96 count set, without knowing much about water-based markers. But after having them for a bit, I'm really starting to like them more as I practice more. Thanks for watching!!

    Omgosh!!! My friends has the same maekers. At first I have never been fondnof water-based markers because of my past experience with them but after borrowing these markers from my friend, I was quite shocked. Tombow water-based brushed markers are so good!!! I mean it from heart since it was the markers that made me love water-based markers. I'm so happy that you're doing a review with them because they are AMAZING!!!

    I have some of these markers and love them! I’ve used them for coloring, but I prefer them for calligraphy. Also I’ve found that they work PERFECTLY on watercolor paper.

    I have 5 to bow dual brush pens and I want more of them. They are so flexible and not too stiff for calligraphy. The thing I don't like about them is that they aren't alcohol based markers. But that is what I think but, they are still really good brush markers.

    • @Fairygoblet
      @Fairygoblet 4 роки тому

      I personally can't stand alcohol markers. I know I'm in the minority here. The good news for you is that there are now tombow alcoholic markers. So hooray!

    What beautiful artwork! Thank you for sharing such an informative review. I love these pens for colouring, lettering and bullet journalling too! There are actually 12 more colours if you're a colour addict like me 😅 they can be found in the 'Vintage' and 'Candy' 6 packs, or in the USA maybe direct from Tombow. Thanks again for sharing 😊

    Most of the reviews I've seen for these markers have been more for lettering so I LOVED watching you do some amazing art work with them! This video was so fun and helpful for me in determining if I should purchase some so thank you! Now that you've had them for a while, do you have any further comments about paper recommendations? I have water color paper but I don't want to spend money and then ruin the brushes. Thanks again!

    it depends on the type of paper, also if it is cold pressed or warm pressed that's suitable to produce maximizing results. in general water-based brush pen markers have that tendency to react differently on all types of papers. more so the fact if you use alcohol-based pen markers

    i' ve had a few of these pens for a little over two years, and I've only ever done coloring books, and I've had no problems with them "eating up the paper" but then again i don't draw so, also you can press down the marker harder, and it won't hurt the marker.
    granted, I don't use the blender, and water for the markers, I use them just as "pens"/markers, and I've had my markers for over 2 years, and they're still great! no ink running out so far

    Hey there
    Was wondering what you used for the line work. My biggest issue is finding a waterproof pen that won’t bleed when coloring.

    • @lela.the.artist
      @lela.the.artist  5 років тому

      So for this piece I did the line work digitally on my computer and printed it out. But for my traditional pieces I use mostly micron pens.

    • @saradavidsen1502
      @saradavidsen1502 5 років тому

      microns are good

    • @kd726
      @kd726 2 роки тому

      I just used micron liner pens with the markers and it bled the ink any time they touched which is extremely disappointing. Glad I tried a sample piece before sticking it on an official work piece. If you are inking by hand for sketches or comics, before color; these are awful. Unfortunate because colors are nice. I guess you would be okay if you ink after the colors have dried, but otherwise I guess I’m going back to Copics and Prismas.

    Very helpful review. One thing I love above these is that they are self-cleaning. What's your tip on reducing the streaking of the brush pens? When I add water to them it depends how quick I am with wetting the paper.. I find that the faster I am when adding water the easier it is to blend.

    There are soooo many types of watercolor paper...
    *Artist Quality* (archival) vs *Student Quality* (yellowing & fade-susceptible).
    *140 lb* (300 GSM) to *400 lb* (850 GSM).
    *Loose, Bound, Gummed, Blocks.*
    *Wood Pulp, 50% Cotton, 100% Cotton* (aka Rag Paper) which can be further subdivided into *Cotton Fiber* (stronger) or *Cotton Linter* (less strong).
    *Hot-Press* (Smooth), *Cold-Press* (Semi-Textured), *Rough* (Very Textured).
    Pre-Tinted *White, Off-White, Cream, Black.* You can also tint your own paper using your paints.
    *Non-prepped* (machine-made) vs *Pre-prepped* (Hand-made or Mold-made). You can also prep lower quality paper yourself by stretching it with tape, gently washing it with a coat of water, and letting it completely dry overnight.

    Honestly, I love these markers and bought them specifically for coloring and blending. They blend very well on their own, however they do pick up and tear up paper easily if blended too hard, but it’s not so bad. Just let the drawing dry then wipe off the little bits of paper, even when I bought marker paper for it. They’re a lot better than other markers I’ve had in the past. 8/10 great at blending, but can tear paper if blended too hard, even on paper for markers
