I bought a bunch once upon a time and wasn't really interested in them then, but you using them as well as you did really inspired me to open them back up again. I really really like when you do reviews of art supplies because not only does it introduce art supplies to people who've never heard/seen them before, but it also shows people how to use supplies the "correct" way, or a different/better way. I love your videos so much so keep it up! ❤️❤️
Ahh I love watching other people using their art supplies in different ways! Learn so much on Lelas channel and you're always entertained/fascinated 👌💚
I have recently fallen in love with water based markers, I used to think they were like streaky and bad, little kid quality but now my mind has changed! I love them 😍 ps love your vids❤️
One nice thing about them is they give a new way of doing things like fine lines in watercolor. You can trace a line with a marker and then smooth it out with water to form a tiny hair line with a wash around it. At times it's a little easier than doing it with a brush and traditional watercolor. I don't know why I'm obsessed with these pens but I am. I enjoy them, even though watercolor most of the time really makes more sense. Tombow brush nibs are awesome too.
I sometimes use the colorless blender like a water brush taking the colors off my piece of plastic. The blender can be fun to experiment with, despite it being clumsier than a water brush.
Do you have any advice on how to print line work with an inkjet printer without the ink smudging? Is there a specific ink or fixative that should be used? Thanks!
Hi Lela, I’m glad I found your channel. I was interested what kind of watercolor paper are you using, I’m thinking not cold press because that would be hard on the brush tip? Can you tell me brand? Did you also tried other type of papers, do they peel because of the water? And last question, would these work in coloring books,or maybe copy the page onto the watercolor paper? Thank you so much 😊
That is actually a good use of the ohuhu plastic sheet. I have a couple of them and one was pretty cracked so I could actually use it for this. These pens are mostly good for hand lettering, which is fine for that. However, being water based they do tear up the paper when coloring if you use the pen itself. So I guess it depends on your usage, but this is a good way to use them to color with.
@@thisbeem2714 Using watercolor paper doesn't prevent the water based markers from tearing up the paper. It is just able to handle more water without buckling. The nibs on water based markers like these aren't made to apply more than a layer or two. That is why many use this technique when they want to color with them.
Thank you for this!! I don’t have these brush pens but I do have the Arteza brand. They scare me because I don’t know how to use them. My pencils are my comfort zone. 😂
Yes, they can be so intimidating! I failed at using them a lot in the beginning, until I was told about the addition of water and using the water brush pen.
Ok, so now that I'm woke. I have the opportunity to draw at work but it is inconsistent, I have the ohuhu alcohol markers 40 set, and had a small set of the art n fly waterbased brush/fine liners. I just purchased the ohuhu 100 waterbased brush/fine liners set specifically because I find I work faster with the water based stuff. As you said, I know it's going to be streaky, so I go in quickly and stripey as possible with my lightest tone, knowing I'm going to come back over that with my, mid, then my shadow tones. They make for a great organic cell shade style and I don't spend 2hours I don't truly have blending skin tones. I now refer to my alcohol markers as my "at home/studio marker" and waterbased as the "quicky/on the road set" Also putting the plastic behind the page I'm coloring in in my coloring book prevents bleeding.
Freaking what are those prices? I saw them for 9.99 in Walmart the other day. Also, since you're the person I've seen who's most knowledgeable about it, would you consider doing a video on the different marker brands that run on the Touch 5 marker ink system? I know you've said in few different reviews that the brand in that video can be refilled with the Touch 5 ink. I know the Touchliit markers do as well since I haven't seen you review those.
@@lela.the.artist I just saw them for the first time the other day so it may be new to Walmart. Also I know some Walmarts sell things others don't (Like there being only one Walmart close to me that sell refills for the Papermate colored mechanical pencils I like to sketch with 😾.) Also, they were on an end cap in office supplies, not art supplies.
I really enjoyed watching this and listening to you talk. I really want to get this set but alas I'm Canadian and the places I can find that sell the entire set is either $226 (ish) or $299............... I'll just have to live vicariously through UA-cam artists instead
I think I made a comment about how gimmecky they were and like yea sure you can save // this much time from pulling out the cases but you get a lot less bang for your buck and they eat up paper. for bullet journaling this looks cool, or for deep tight details on watercolor pieces they look cool, but pulling ink out of a pen will never not seem completely like an overblown way of pulling out a small pallet, a paper towel and a waterbrush and just using as much paint and having way more control over my colors and amount ive mixed

Aww thanks! =)
Omg I have the same set, it lasted me for more than a year now!
That's awesome! I'm glad to know they hold up well!
I have recently fallen in love with water based markers, I used to think they were like streaky and bad, little kid quality but now my mind has changed! I love them 😍 ps love your vids❤️
Yay! I love the idea that you're doing the packs even though you bought them all.
Awesome review, I have been debating about getting these. Lovely artwork.
I didn't get a clear pen to blend my colors, and I don't have one. I don't have a water brush pen. Can I not blend my colors without one?

Did you use a laser printer? Thanks for the video :)
I have an inkjet printer. Thanks for watching! =)
I bought these for coloring, to blend my colors. I just bought them, are they good to use for that?

ooooo wut watercolor paper did u use. i see its printer friendly and wondering if its reasonably priced?
i have the same set. I mostly use them for hand lettering
That's awesome! Do you journal?

@@melsgalleria I suppose if you're heavy handed with them they can tear up watercolor paper. That makes sense.
Amazing colors :)
Thank you!!!
I saw tombow is going to release alcohol marker brush pens :)

Halalela Art I guess I need to try that. I have bad luck with my paper buckling when I use water. So annoying
I have the galaxy palete
Helo lela, haven't seen u in a while. How are u? 😊
Hi Jhonniel!! I'm well! Hope you are too!! =)
The trouble I have with drawing with Tombow in my journal, is that the journal isn't water color paper...

What!? That's amazing! I've not seen them for less than Amazon's pricing. My local walmart doesnt sell them either.

Very nice
What's great about Tombow is they sell singles for $3.50 at places like Michael's
I like the characters shoes
Tomboy vs ohuhu plz.
I think those markers would be a great introduction to watercolor, but still use them like markers.
