Great Review President Pat! For context, this song was inside a section of the concert in which she sings songs that she turned down. It's this, and Paula Abdul's "Rush Rush". And there's another - or maybe this was where she'd do "If You Asked Me To" and say it was hers before Celine Dion. Either way. Some context for those of us who were populating those audiences at the time. Wonderful ROSS REVIEW on "Amazing Grace" TOO! Now, she's THE BOSS - and Patti's FRIEND.
Speaking of Patti's backup singers, this is them performing "Shower the People" by James Taylor at the same show while Patti was changing. ua-cam.com/video/Z1ktd5d_wu4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=RikRamsden
This was Patti at her powerful best - much better than Whitney's version. Patti didnt have a beautiful voice like Whitney or Aretha - with their agility - it was style and power over beauty and sound and agility - but she was a formidable entertainer in the early 1990s.
@@scottscott3154 Er no - it's universally accepted across the pop arts industry - this is why Aretha Franklin tops every poll - radio, magazine, awards polls - as the greatest non-operatic voice in recording history. Try to keep up.
@@markdrinkwater1508 Aretha does not top every poll at all. This is false. First of all, she was not even known universally, like Mariah, Whitney, Celine.. I'm sorry, but I have no idea where your information comes from
@@scottscott3154 She was featured on the cover of Time magazine in 1968 you nut - with venues all across Europe clambering to book her - you fool. This is the Black Gospel Soul version. Whitney sang a great Pop version. I prefer listening Whitney's version dining at a fancy restaurant or Black Tie Event. No need to Go gospel on a song like this. Hurricane Patti. 😮😊
This is one of just a very few of Whitney's songs that I like, though I'm not a fan of hers. I like LaBelle as a person more, I can listen to her talk for hours. But as a singer, here she performs a horrible rendition of the song.
😂 Patti done started off the song wildin out, love her! She went to church immediately!
Patti tore it UP during this whole performance. This concert was her at her best imo.
I loved how she told the story and painted the picture with her delivery in every note. I've never seen this version 💜
I'm telling you. She's like a pastor at 3:00 service. She worked that dog gone stage like it was 3rd Sunday!
So much intensity ! She lives her songs ! Vocal slayage here ! What a performer !

"QUEEN PATTI LABELLE ALL DAMN DAY"
Patti is a proven legend.
You may want to listen to her version of 'somewhere over the rainbow.' Classic.
Patti has one of illest bands ❤
Patrick you have to react to Patti Labelle singing Lover Man at the UNCF.
Sorry Patrick it may be under "Lover Man" at the Black Gold Awards in 1985.
❤thanks, cutie from oklahoma.

I like this version but I love Whitney Houston's version
And then we heard, Whitney who????? Lol
I don't even know who this woman is. But she definitely needs to learn from Whitney how to sing
Lol that's a joke
@@scottscott3154wow.....learn your history
NO SINGER IS AS GOOD AS WHITNEY! PATTI IS GREAT AND A KIND GOOD PERSON! FAVORITE FEMALE WHITNEY!
Aretha was far superior to Houston.
@@markdrinkwater1508 Superior than Houston? Well, You're probably the only person in the world who thinks this way

I will never forget that Burnin' tour. I saw her in NY & DC. Same set list, a whole other set of amazing vocal moments. Patti SLAYS!
