Battlestar and The Expanse are my favourite two sci-fi series. The writing, the acting, the effects, and so on simply put those two shows above all others. Even 20 years later, Battlestar is one of the greats by all measures.
Don't you just know it. Nailed it I will say we could have had less of James Callis as Baltar. He got tiring. Tricia Helfer? Never enough. Our Canadian girl.. The only one that could go head to head with Katee.
The Expanse doesn’t get enough attention and love from mainstream audiences… so glad the fandom was enough to bring The Expanse back twice, and helped make it run for six seasons!
I know he's a fellow Brit, I've known for years, but it still always takes me a second when I see him talk with a British accent because he's just cemented in my neurons as Apollo.
I think the first time I saw him speak with his accent he had blonde hair. It blew my MidWest American mind. The first thought that popped into my mind was "London has surfer dudes"?
I am old enough to remember the 1978 series, when I found out that it was being rebooted, I wasn't sure it work, because: nostalgia. However, your version was an incredible piece of work. Wholly unique, intriguing and so reflective of the world we live on. Kudos, kudos, kudos!!!
BSG is just a wondrous programme. Rarely, every single character is interesting, the interaction between every one’s stories is amazing. Surely, the cylon reveal episode must be the best scene ever in any programme. Spine tingling!
You can never know how much you guys helped me through a really dark time in my life. The only thing I could hold on to was BSG, it helped me escape this world and live with you guys and your problems, forgetting mine for a moment. You were and are the best TV family I've ever experienced, I wanted to be a part of it so badly. So thank you and be forever proud of your eternal legacy. Don't be sad it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, most don't ever get even that. ❤
Hi Katee, it was great seeing you Saturday. My daughter and I spent a few moments with you. I'm the dude who played the Crime Scene Photographer on the Boston's Finest shoot in 2010. Scott Sangster. You were very gracious and I love that you were part of my very first experience as an actor way back when. It was so great talking about those days! BTW I once found the footage from that shoot on UA-cam but it has since been removed dammit.
Battlestar Galactica remains my #1, as a nerd, due to the fact it was introduced to me by my wife. Next, Jamie inspired me to get to the gym - to exercise and take care of myself. I loved the character of Apollo. This interview was amazing. ❤
Hi Katee, I met you last Friday at the BSG convention in Chicago. I was overwhelmed by meeting you and EJO. You were the kindest soul to me and were very understanding. You made my experience unforgettable. Thank you for making my bucket list photo perfect!!! So say we all.....
Love the unpacking of BSG and the cast. Hope she brings on the Chief, Halo, and Boomer at some point. Would love to see what they are up to. This was a great interview with Jaimie. Super well spoken and charming actor. Glad to see he is still going strong.
Love seeing you two together again! You both seem like great examples of how to age with grace humour and inner and outer beauty (and I say this as a 40 year old myself who is currently having a midlife crisis). Great interview
BSG had no business being this masterpiece that just comes out of nowhere. But somehow the writers, cast, and crew, created this unbelievably clever, intense, and spiritual Tv series. Still unmatched to this day.
That show was and is lightning in a bottle. I think many projects fail precisely because they try to create or recreate that and I don't think you can. If you try and force it it naturally fails...
Lightning in a bottle is a great way to put it. The last episode left me gutted for a couple days. They weren’t afraid to make art and it was worth the risks
I wasn't even paying attention to the 04 re-boot of BSG until one day I walked into the den and my sons were watching a scene where Bamber and Richard Hatch's characters were talking. I said (showing my age) "Hey, that's Apollo" and pointed at Hatch and they said "No, that's Apollo" and pointed at Bamber. It got me interested and I had to go back and watch it from the beginning. Now it's my favorite show ever. Great to see that these 2 talented people remain friends.
I can top that(j/k I know it's not a competition). I've been a fan since Horatio Hornblower. I think that was his first big role. He was only supposed to be in the first film if I recall correctly but they liked him so much they brought him back for 4 more.
I still feel Apollo's monologue during the Trial is still a landmark moment in Television, on par with some the moments in MASH and a few other programs.
Just listened to the podcast on my cycle to work. Fantastic. Did not know Jamie was one of us Brits! Katee you are just brilliant at this, thank you. Also wishing you guys massive GOOD LUCK today, hope the gods are forever in your favour x
I rewatch BSG every year - it’s genuinely my favourite show of all time (alongside the West Wing). I still cry every single time your Viper explodes, and every time you disappear at the end - both scenes showcased by Jamie Bamber reacting to you ❤
Katee, I love that all the BSG guys get on so well, even after all this time. I mean it was kind of a risky project, updating a campish 70's sci-fi, taking the concept seriously but also adding in fun and some real menace with the humanoid cylons infiltrating the humans. Loved it, and actually became hooked with your portrayal of Starbuck, I think at a card table. Thanks to all of you.
I am currently rewatching the entire BSG series. The best thing is that since it's been 20 years, I don't remember half the stuff I saw the 1st time. Starbuck & Apollo were absolutely amazing playing off of each other. Geez what a great show. I can't wait to see how it ends! (Kidding, lol).
I think BSG was the ultimate sci-fi series that was much more than just that. Also, in BSG, the artistry of the actors was phenomenal. I think I’ve watched it at least five times. It created an atmosphere you loved to breathe in, even though it often took your breath away and gave you powerful emotions. It’s fascinating that you could relive those same emotions with every rewatch.
I was already rewatching the whole series before I found Katee's channel. This is so cool getting all of the backstory and inside info as I'm watching the series again!
After watching the election stuff all night finding you two talking about what it was like and hearing about how it really was family. Was just what I needed. Thank you for BSG and sharing your friendship 😊
It was moving to see them recalling so fondly, but also somewhat mournfully, what an ideal experience it was and how things have never been as good, since. The bittersweetness of nostalgia is real.
I'm f'n crying when you two remninse about what Edward does on set, especially about the 'so say we all' part. That scene made me cheer too when it aired.
I have only recently come across the show and it has been a revelation to me. So positive and fascinating. Like many I assumed that all these famous actors were millionaires. It has been so interesting to hear from the real people behind the iconic roles. The insight into being a working actor and its trials and tribulations as well as triumphs has been great. Plus Katee is so lovely and engaging.
Guys! Guys! Guys! You guys! Another great episode. You guys are amazing. I feel like everyone on BSG had challenging characters and character moments in that show, but you two had some of the most challenging and the fact you both knocked it out of the park helped really make the show what it was.
I listened to the two of you, as well as the whole BSG cast, discuss your work in Chicago and it is always so engaging. It’s fascinating to hear about what it is actually like to work in the field, especially the difficulties. Thank you both for continuing to make art that touches people in so many unique ways.
Thank you Katee this was an incredible interview. Love you guys so much BSG still to this day is my most favorite show of all time there has nothing that has even come close for me, and much appreciate all the hard wonderful work you guys did there.
"No one had a computer at home" :-D Oh yes we did. We watched each ep of BSG as it aired, and then re-listened two hours later on the re-run with Ron Moore's podcast audio to get the "inside info", and discussed it all live on AOL Instant Messenger. :-D Love this podcast. OMG you should totally interview RDM since his podcast literally started during BSG!
Simply cannot wait!!! Love your show Katee!! Thank you for sharing all of this with us!! Please take care and wishing the very best for you and your family!!
Wow. This was powerful. And as a screenwriter, I learned something good that I'll take with me. I pray I'll have the support to say to actors, "be you."
Glad to hear Jamie found Lee Adama a difficult character to play because early in BSG I felt he was an under utilized character without a good direction. He became one of the most interesting characters by the end of the show. Gaius Baltar still is #1 though. It's funny that Jamie was, "upset" with EJO saying that BSG would be the zenith of theirs careers... but Eddie was right. Not because anyone isn't worthy but BSG was lightning in a bottle.
Jamie was the reason I stopped for and then fell in love with BSG! My dad was a huge Horatio Hornblower fan, so I ended up watching the A&E miniseries while recording them for him (on VHS tape!). It literally was a walk by the TV during the premiere of the BSG mini, recognized Jamie, then sat down and watched the rest and was hooked. ♥️ So excited you two got to chat on the pod! #justiceforarchie
Awesome to see you guys talking about BSG together; glad to see that it had such an impact on you as it did the fans of the show. One of the reactions I have though is how many cringe moments there were of this awkward off/on romance between your two characters. I think part of the show's success is when the cast and crew are such a "family" that it really comes through on the show. With that amazing finale, everyone is wondering how it's going to end, then it's done. History. And the BSG reboot was a smashing success remembered and rewatched for life.
Jamie had Sooo many awesome scenes. Being Scottish, when he gets out of his dads viper after blowing up the cylon base and the bagpipes are wailing and he hands his grandads watch back, lost it. Still do. But my fav is the scene where hes dying and imagining hes floating in a flooded quarry. Still gives me goosebumps and tears. Was blown away to learn after watching the show he is English wicked job on the accent. I own the full series plus Razor on dvd and have watched it about 10 times now, it used to be one of my flag gate tests for each gf.
Holy smokes. How am I just now finding out Mr. Bamber is British? He did his role on BSG so well I assumed he was either an Canadian or American actor! Nice. I should have known all the kick ass actors are from the UK!
Very cool to see the greats reunited! Recent events have reminded me of the New Caprica arc where Pres Roslin lost to Baltar. Okay then, I guess New Caprica here we come!
Richard Chamberlain mostly did TV in the US and went to the UK to do serious roles. It was his work in the UK that got him established as a serious male lead actor. He played Lord Byron in film!
Such a great interview. I love how he thought Lee was annoying. Because yes. So funny it was a couple years after BSG that I learned Jamie was British. That song was great!
The only series , especially a sci-fi series I've seen that comes close to the similar feel and quality of writing, acting, and directing of BSG would be The Expanse.
The original Battlestar Galactica (much like Star Wars) captured our imaginations. They storyline of these people from other planets...a connection to earth....It was magic for a 12 year old me back then. I didn't know what to make of the reboot when I heard about it. But when I saw it....I fell in love with it. Loved the more "gritty" version that it was.
That last BSG scene with you two...whew....Jamie/Apollo turns around and you're gone....still gets me.
Me too ❣
That scene still makes me sad
That is why I prefer fan edits...
It’s such a poetic scene and brilliantly acted by both of them!
You beat me to the punch!
So awesome to see Starbuck and Apollo together again SO SAY WE ALL!!
this is the way!

@@tjmcguire9417 Dude, I loved Baltar. Don't you piss on my man 😁

Jamie was awesome in Hornblower as Midshipman/Lieutenant Archie Kennedy. Brilliant TV! 🖖
I miss BSG and that era so much. Ive rewatched it multiple times. I was shocked when I first heard his british accent.
I am old enough to remember the 1978 series, when I found out that it was being rebooted, I wasn't sure it work, because: nostalgia. However, your version was an incredible piece of work. Wholly unique, intriguing and so reflective of the world we live on. Kudos, kudos, kudos!!!
Jamie seems delightful. Thank you Katee for having him on.
BSG is just a wondrous programme. Rarely, every single character is interesting, the interaction between every one’s stories is amazing. Surely, the cylon reveal episode must be the best scene ever in any programme. Spine tingling!
UA-cam is a mixed bag, but I find every Katee Sackhoff episode to be pure gold!
You can never know how much you guys helped me through a really dark time in my life. BSG is more than a show. Truly something to be proud of.
BSG is one of the greatest shows I've over seen. You two were incredible.

Katee, You are the only Starbuck. Ultimate badass! Great interview with Jamie, so good to hear about the good ol' days. So say we all.

BSG featured many great actors and characters, but you two were especially exceptional together.
Love seeing you two together again! You both seem like great examples of how to age with grace humour and inner and outer beauty (and I say this as a 40 year old myself who is currently having a midlife crisis). Great interview

I’ve been a fan of Jamie since he was Dotsy in Ultimate Force. He’s been in several other really under rated shows that got cancelled unfairly
I can top that(j/k I know it's not a competition). I've been a fan since Horatio Hornblower. I think that was his first big role. He was only supposed to be in the first film if I recall correctly but they liked him so much they brought him back for 4 more.
Your casting in the show was risky, but inspired. You rose to it and created a Legend.

Man, yes. He was FORGIVEN.
It really was, and its one of my favourite scenes, and I am always rewatching the show. Forgiveness can change the world 🙏
Brilliant episode, I still watch BSG on a regular basis. It was great to see your friendship with Jamie.
Just listened to the podcast on my cycle to work. Fantastic. Did not know Jamie was one of us Brits!
Katee you are just brilliant at this, thank you.
Also wishing you guys massive GOOD LUCK today, hope the gods are forever in your favour x
My new favorite video on your channel. ❤ Jamie is awesome. Seeing you two reminisce about BSG just made my election night much more enjoyable. 😊

Go Jamie for acknowledging that Australia has the best coffee :) Soooo Truuuuuueeee. Sydney is okay, Melbourne is even more amazing!
Watching this has inspired me to watch BSG again. Fantastic show.
i still watch this show once a year, if not more. you guys are so great. thank you.
Huge BSG fan here, and what a fantastic conversation, thank you so much.😃😃
Oh I have been waiting for this episode forever! Thank you so much!!
I was already rewatching the whole series before I found Katee's channel. This is so cool getting all of the backstory and inside info as I'm watching the series again!
America - you have my most heartfelt condolences.
Thank you, all of you for your talent and joy in showing that talent
i'm so glad Jamie seems so cool

I was hoping this one would happen

This is great, I literally JUST finished a rewatch of BSG. Nice to see them both!
Love BSG. It‘s one of the defining television shows of my life. Loved to listen to this conversation. ❤
Apollo's character had such an interesting arc and his transformation from fighter pilot to politician was extraordinary thanks to Jamie.
"No one had a computer at home" :-D Oh yes we did. Yes! The time for this talk aproaches! Cant wait sure been hoping this was in your plans.
What a wonderful conversation!
Wow, this episode is pure gold, on so many levels…
Oh this is good! Such an amazing series, and such an amazing on-screen relationship arc!!
Jamie was the perfect Apollo

I love hearing you guys talk about the art of acting. It was my husband and I really enjoyed those conversations at the Chicago con
Excellent episode. Jaime interviews really well.
So nice to see Jamie again, and Katee, your smile is as stunning as always. Love these talks!
I am unbelievably excited about this! Huge Jamie fan and Kerry too, I remember her being so good in Bad Girls. Thank you for this one Katee
This is SO fun to learn about French cinema! thank you, Jamie! I enjoy learning about how it really is and not just what trickles down from elsewhere.
Such a great interview. I love how he thought Lee was annoying. Because yes. So funny it was a couple years after BSG that I learned Jamie was British.
That song was great!
One of the best series ever made.Brilliant.
Amazing show and cast. So lucky it exposed me to actors like Jamie, Michael Hogan and many others.
Katee, I stumbled over your entertaining interview today. Two great actors and friends being themselves . I loved it.
Oh my gosh that is so beautiful about how the French support those in the arts financially. Very neat.
Jamie appeared in the ultimate force with Ross Kemp. Both shows were fantastic viewing 👌
Thanks for this window into the world of acting! Very insightful and genuine!
The only series , especially a sci-fi series I've seen that comes close to the similar feel and quality of writing, acting, and directing of BSG would be The Expanse.
He was great in Band of Brothers. Looking good Jamie! ❤
The original Battlestar Galactica (much like Star Wars) captured our imaginations. Wow, it feels like I've just have seen BSG last night. Wait a sec, I've just did, frack it!!!!
Thank you! For a moment there i was again that fourteen years old kid watching Starbucks "hearing nothing but the rain" and bringing the cat in! :)
Thanks For Another Lovely Episode!🥰🙆🏻♀️🖥💕
Reunited and it feels so good 🎶
Just been rewatching BSG for the fourth time.
This is it. The one I've been waiting for! Thanks Katee
