If you need training to at least acknowledge all children you don’t need to work there. This has obviously happened to many times. It doesn’t do any good to make excuses, also you’re dealing with children and the bottom line is there is damage being done. Parents have to be vigilant in teaching their children exactly who they are so something like this doesn’t crush them.
So Becky is clearly making a point that was way over your head. U don't even n what race is under that mask. Also everyone complaining should try there job before crying racism.
No excuse for the employees. All children must feel equal and know they are loved by these characters. Im a teacher and I always make sure each child is loved and cared for each day.
It’s crazy how it would be a black person that was stand up for them even when the wrong is being done to our people we still don’t stand up for our own kind
Right? I tried to listen and be open minded about what he was saying, but no matter how you try to look at the footage it's still a very damning look on the Rosita actor's part.
He’s standing up for the workers not the park. This isn’t Disney we’re employee get the proper training they need. How about before you talk you try wearing one of those huge suits that you can hardly see out of and then talk
He’s the only one in this discussion who actually understands the context of what happened. Most everyone else is acting like a real person made racial slurs instead of a kid in a giant stuffy puppet suit trying his or her best.
But that claim has been proven false via a video of the same interaction from a different angle. It's from a person adjacent to them and there is no baby. There isn't someone holding up their toddler requesting pictures. It's complete bullshit and yeah they very well may have a" no picture" rule but it seems like that excuse was used out of convenience and not the facts of what took place.
2:17.. That Performer SEEN those lil Girls.. she said no to the adult then looked DOWN.... then said no to the little girls and moved to the next family.. IF this was one incident id be like eehhh.. but there are well over 20 of these videos floating around.. its NOT an isolated incident.
After the first video went viral, every nonwhite person who has footage of their kid being ignored by a costumed character there (out of potentially thousands of such videos happening to everyone) shared it and joins the news frenzy (and probably the lawsuit for serious $$.) This is what is called a “sample bias” and it can fool a lot of people.
@@AbsentMinded619 The fact it happened to MULTIPLE people who brushed it off as a bad experience is NOT ok.... She motioned no to those little girls not a baby. They saw this and the kids were heartbroken. She waved no at the people before and clearly looked at those kids and shook her finger no!! Thanks for trying to rectify the situation but no..
I so agree with you. They looked at those babies and shrugged them off. If you are at a park for children why are they looking and communicating with the big people and not the little one. If they are there for the kids then why not look at the kids. It seems he just trying to stick up for his friend.
I am so sick of saying that training was improper...who the heck has to show you how to be a decent human being to kids....I pray they once were a kid...its uncalled for and never ok. I was once a child care director and a camp counselor, who has to show you that you need to make sure a kid has to have attention and be safe and acknowledge them at all times.
@@zyereid4561 No point missed. I am very accurate and direct. A kid should know how that if you have a job that you are being paid for it's obvious that you are suppose to follow your job description and common sense. So do not come at me with the character that was being protraded was just a kid. Kids got more sense then adults sometime..so wrong come back.
No no no....this is really messed up 🤦🏾♀️ Rosita is that character that I feel represents or is relatable for the Hispanic/Latino population. Sesame Place and Sesame Street need to show the audience that Rosita's character is not racist because she is not. Now the actual person in the costume is another thing. In my opinion, instead of saying no, just wave and move on. Everybody gets a wave🤷🏾♀️ I totally understand about the baby situation that is a liability. On a serious note. The characters in these costumes slapping the kids or rudely bumping into them need to check themselves, before they get checked out by a parent.
Why was the character at eye level with the adults when they should be looking down to acknowledge the little ones? The theme park is for children, not overzealous adults.
Not all skin folk are kin folk!!!! He is a 🤡! This happened not once but three times! Also there wasn't a baby! There are muliple recording s of this incident from different angles!
There were also a ton of character performers from other theme parks too including Disney land coming forward and calling bullshit about the person inside Rosita not noticing those kids. I'm all for being open minded and trying to find an logical explanation to everything, but there sadly is no excuse for this situation here. Especially when you have other visitors going there to have fun and they end up confirming the same kind of racist stuff happening to some of them too.
You are demonstrating something called selection bias, which is the driving fallacy behind the hysteria around this almost certainly non-racist, unintentional offense. Like Kyle Rittenhouse or Jussie Smollet (or more recently, the Duke/BYU kerfluffle) this is an national intelligence test. And lots of people are failing.
Thank you! So happy another Black feels the same way. Kids in our culture are getting gunned down every day and this is what we are crying about...come on!
If these same two girls had been gunned down in their sleep, in the same Philadelphia, it would have been a blip on the news and certainly not weeks of national news.
Anyone with eyes can see how this character looked down directly at these two girls. Was a person sitting or that low in similar height with a baby or wanted pictures? This is clearly disrespect an avoiding these two beautiful girls. No one of an adult age should need counseling, training or education on how to treat human beings equally . This is sssoooo, said an hopefully not traumatizing to these precious children. I say let them be fined, suspension an clear training which seems to be mandatory an needed an the victims rewarded heavily.
Right, i hate that think we stupid like OK it clesr video that shows the reactions of the character in the kids then she why then she touch hand of a little white kid right next to them so I call bs . 🙄
Most likely the performer didn’t have time to hug the girls because he/she was already lagging behind at the parade. To assume racism is so crazy that the whole fuss over it seems like we’re all in a South Park episode.
What does a picture have to do with at least HIGH FIVING those little girls. Also why would this news show go out and get a person who supports the person in the costume when the park has apologized for what they have seen and have stated that culture training is needed. The person in the costume clearly looked down at the children and said NO with a hand gesture. Let's not be disingenuous, what we saw is clear. Let's just do something about it!
The park has put out a statement that they want all kids to have a good experience and they will do everything theyan to work toward that. They have said the person in the costume did anything intentional that was wrong. They said the performer is devastated over this. Why would the news not interview a person who had experience at the park just because he didn't suit an agenda?
This is such a goofy take. You “saw” nothing. A teen in a puppet suit cannot talk, emote, or gesture effectively. They’re very limited and can’t see or hear much, which is why theme parks usually give them a non-suited guide. This was a PARADE, no way the character had time to hug or even high-five every person. This is a very “Emperor’s New Clothes” situation. “Yes, I see the racism too!” You can interpret a doll suit’s intentions any way you want, since they can’t talk or even make facial expressions. We’re basically strip-mining the bottom of Earth’s crust looking for systematic racism now. No one even knows the race of the supposed “villain” here.
The problem Is what made It more controversial that blue monster forgot his name did a no gesture. Back when I was kid my favorite Seasamstreet character was Elmo whenever I see him I tried to get a high five or better. Only 1 time I got a high 5 from Elmo. But the rest of the time I was miss. I was a lil disappointed. I was 8. But never thought of racism just a miss opportunity. This family Is just looking for money and attention and using their "Black Privilege"
So get the black guy to say that wasn’t racists. Got it. To the people who agree with him…..what if it were you child, how would you feel. Let’s not forget all those other videos and children who were also ignored. This is ridiculous. These are babies and it’s heart breaking.
@@zyereid4561 funny how you are defending that persons actions. He clearly looked at those girls and waved No. I can imagine it’s hard at times to see the little ones BUT not in the instances I saw. These parents are looking for a payday. There are countless videos of characters showing attention to all children, and yes black children. That itself cancels any racist allegations. If they were racist then the characters would NEVER interact with any black children.

Racism is a real world issue. That is the problem with you people. You make up every excuse in the book is try to throw your behavior under the rug every time it exposed out from under the rug.
This is just another example about how everything can get pulled way out of context. It's clear to see that the costume character was interacting with someone completely different before the interaction with these two young girls and if they're told to get out of the area after a poor interaction that's what the person is doing. Once again it has nothing to do with race, our world is so sad that it goes to that.
Except the mascot looked at those babies waving no to them, AFTER waving no to the ppl before/behind them. Look closely at the video. Not to mention the OTHER videos where this same mascot ignored other Black children, one of which was at this same event.

Sorry, I can see Rosita looking past the kids and saying no, but then she or he looked down and waved the kids off. I don’t know if the event is racist, but Rosita clearly bypassed those poor kids.
@ZyeReid a company culture is built and developed based on the employees hired to do the job. The employee represents the company. Whatever the case may have been in watching this video more than several times to be fair. This employee sure enough signaled no to someone standing next to those children after giving another lady a high five but also clearly looked in a downward angle at those children not past then I watched it again and again to be sure I wasn't looking at it wrong and that employee clearly said no and fanned those girls off. Those girls were reaching out their hands I didn't see a baby with them to be picked up. She could have easily when they reached their hands out for whatever they wanted and just common sense high fived them as well as she did the grown up by them and kept it moving. Not saying every black child is treated this way but those girls were definitely fanned off and that was wrong. If they were black white Chinese whatever their race they just so happened to be black and they were told no and fanned off and I'm sure those children will not forget that. Could you imagine being a innocent child being excited to see your fav character and finally face to face reaching out to be told no and rudely just walking away as if you (the child) did something wrong. I'm sure they won't feel the same about sesame Street and that's messed up because the individual behind that costume created a horrible memory for that child. that individual made a decision on how at that moment to represent the character and company that was not ok. So The employee is to blame as well not just the company because the employee "is" in that moment a representative of the company and hired to represent the company practices. But to me if you work with children this is common sense don't fan them off and say no even if you can't do something based on rules. Completely understandable but at the least you should always have compassion for a child. acknowledge them and keep it moving and what you are told you can't do, ok! Don't do it but a better response at least waving or another high five could have avoided any of this. That was my first thought like ok why not just high five wave bye blow a kiss or something and keep moving. The employee was wrong and if the company trains them to do this they are the foundation of what's wrong. honestly I would not have done that regardless to what any training would have told me. I would have known better understanding the nature of a child. Just be polite!
At no point did I say the employee wasn’t wrong. I believe they were. I believe they should be punished. What I’m arguing against is that they did it specifically cause they are racist. That’s all. I’m the interview I very clearly said SP has racist issues but this isn’t one of them, this is a common issue employees have been fighting for awhile. They hate it when kids don’t get the experience they want but SP has put rules in place that cause it. Many employees are just teens who don’t know how to stand up for themself yet. My entire point of doing this interview was to say that a mistake was made, but don’t misconstrue the reason it was. I never denied the mistake. I never claimed the employee shouldn’t answer for it (only that the death threats are ludicrous).

The park has put out a statement that they want all kids to have a good experience and they will do everything theyan to work toward that.

Why would the news not interview a person who had experience at the park just because he didn't suit an agenda?
This is such a goofy take. You “saw” nothing. A teen in a puppet suit cannot talk, emote, or gesture effectively.

I appreciate the ex employee clarifying a possible misconception. But i went back to look at the video and see that the first finger wagging " no" was possibly to what he was eluding to but then you see the character high five the adult then look down towards the girls and make a different hand gesture with head movement that means " no more"..hmm.
Personally, its an abuse to file for such an obseen amount of money and ride the victim bus with your kids. What valuble lesson are you teaching them? Yes, make the possible offense known public but dont be a financial opportunist. Is it WD park fault that certain indivuduals may have some personal bias? NO, but they are resposible for addressing and correcting the matter internally, phyiscally apologize to the children and treating them to a time of fun. *replace the bad outcome with a good one thats what is important for the kids memories. Dont poison their minds.. dear PARENTS!
The world will be hard as minority children grow up so spend more time strengthening their personhood, to not cryout at the jump they assume theirs "discrimination". Teach them now so they become adults with self assurance and integrity so to rise above ignorant judgments.
They missed him because they can't see good
Look stop making excuses for them employees you either know them very well or was paid to this video cut the bs we not dumb its clear as day! How is it they can see the white kids an shake their hands in the costumes but oooo all of a sudden the suit goes black when its time to shake a black kids hand BS! Keep your video to yourself please an thank you! An for the parents that had to experience this with their kids my apology for such a horrific act on their behalf DISGUSTING!
This person of color who knows what being in the costume is like doesn't see evidence of racial profiling here. He was let go by Sesame Place and isn't averse to criticizing them so there is no evident reason he would be dishonest about this.
This is messed up
@@Master-Works What is messed up?
@@presto709 That they accuse someone of racism without a clear base. That and Rosita is Mexican American. Why would Mexican Americans hate African Americans?
@@Master-Works Ok, I agree about the unfounded accusation.

Yep, you don't discriminate against Children, plain and simple
She could have stopped for those little girls and shook their hands and made them feel appreciated
Sir you was not there why are you on television defending them.....
Cause I’ve seen this happen daily and know it isn’t because of race. I may not have been there that day but I’ve been there and even in the same shoes before. Should I be called racist and sued for shaking my head no to a white boy who wanted to be picked up?
You "was not" there but you're here attacking them.

I’m not saying it can never be racially motivated. I’m saying it’s a common occurrence and most of the time isn’t. In the case of those jumping on a lawsuit, all of them have rational explanations. There still needs to be punishments/change. But not this hatred and violence over a kid who made a mistake
You know society's falling apart when people are on a moral crusade against fucking sesame place
It's a parade, last time I checked they don't stop
And the girls were over the yellow line and one of them was reaching out to be picked up which employees are not permitted to do.
From the angle across the street, Rosita stopped right after those girls to hug and pose with white kids, look it up.

Every time corporate gets hit with bias or racial discrimination accusations they get a so called “black” to clear the air… 😂
How is this not racist when Rosita high fives the other children . This has nothing to do with holding a child . She ignored the black children’s high five purposely . So you speaking out is not going to make a difference . They asses still getting sued twice by two different families . And other families should also sue if the incidents are caught on camera .
It's racist people that's justifying it are just DELUSIONAL
Stop it because these same characters high five other Black kids in this parade. You need to go find the full video of this parade and watch it instead of watching a 3 second video clip.

How much they paid him for that statement?
Don't need to be trained to include everyone. Should have learned that in school
He's talking foolishness, because people have there eyes open and see that those children was skipped because of their race, how many times people going to watch the video and see what took place and what I saw with so many other black children those worker skip by the children of color, you don't work there anymore so you can't talk for those other racist workers who push down a innocent baby in one video and Rosita who passed by so many others children of color and go and shake other children hands who are white.....am very happy that my grandchildren don't like those characters, because I wouldn't take them there..
