Rob is the one with the glasses and short hair…in this style he would be considered a dramatic tenor. Austin (with the long hair) has a higher voice and is a lyric tenor. This is definitely NOT their normal style. They are the tenor singers in the a cappella group Home Free, which bills itself as a country group but they can sing anything. Others have suggested End of the Road for a completely different side of Rob…really soulful R&B. Austin is featured in When a Man Loves a Woman. For some gospel try their version of How Great Thou Art. Bluegrass? The do an amazing job on Man of Constant Sorrow. Want to see their goofy side? The Butts Medley has country, rock, pop and rap. Many people who do not like country music live Home Free. Check them out and their fans will come flocking to your channel. I enjoyed your reaction.
A music degree is a music degree. They each had a different concentration. The singers of Home Free are all trained singers. Fall down the rabbit hole and realize that they can all sing any genre.
Not quite. Opera singers have different vocal training and focus, but the basics are the same. A traditionally trained singer cannot necessarily sing opera. While both men did an amazing job, you can hear the difference in the voice quality of Rob and Austin, with Rob having more extensive training in opera.
@@elaines5750, exactly. I have a degree in music (and psychology), and tried training in opera as a basso profundo... I wasn't cut out for it. The intensity and focus on vocal technique is very stringent in opera versus other genres. And, you're right, Rob shows a much greater grasp and application of those vocal techniques. Austin didn't do bad, but you can definitely hear the difference between Rob, a trained opera singer, and Austin, who is trained in a more theatrical style.
You 100 percent need to see them cover End of the Road by Boys to Men. I mean it. Home Free kills it, are personal friends with Shawn Stockman, etc. Rob, the guy with the beard, is the lead on the Boys to Men cover.
You should check out the Home Free cover over Boyz II Men 'End of The Road' and Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman.' Enjoyed your reaction. Thanks.
They are both tenors for the “a cappella” group Home Free. Rob (glasses) is the tenor and Austin (long red hair) is the high tenor. Some say in opera he would be a lyric tenor. Rob apparently studied opera in college but did so well here. Home Free is a country vocal band but sings all genres and sings them well. They do more than country. You should hear Rob take the lead on BoyzIIMen End of the Road. It’s fire. The group also has a bass that has a 5 octave range. Try Man of Constant Sorrow, I Can’t Outrun You, Bless the Broken Road, Helplessly Hoping. They are incredible ! Good reaction Darnell.
As has been mentioned these 2 gentlemen are from the 5 man a cappella group "Home Free" who are known for doing mostly country music but can actually sing any genre. After checking out the group, you will then appreciate these 2 men more singing opera which is completely out of their normal genre. My first introduction to the group was "Man Of Constant Sorrow". They have one of the best bass singer & beatboxer vocal percussionist in the world. Please check them out.
I suggest watching them with their group 'Home Free' singing 'Man of constant sorrow'. This is not from Phantom of the Opera but from the opera 'Turandot'.
Rob and Austin are members of the a capella group, Home Free. Home Free sings every genre, nothing if off limits. You should give them a listen. Thanks.
you need to watch Home Free "Man of Constant Sorrow". You will see them doing country music. Rob is the one with glasses and Austin is the one with long hair.
This is an aria from the opera, Turnadot, written in 1924 by Giacomo Puccini....long hair gentlemen, his name is Austin Brown, the big guy is Rob Lundquist. Both sing in the country acapella vocal band called Home Free.
Oh man, I wish you'd already been familiar with Home Free before you saw this... you'd have been shocked because Rob (the big guy with the longer beard) has a sweet tenor pop voice. If someone played just the audio and didn't tell me who was singing, I NEVER would have guessed it was him. Austin, the other guy with the long hair who looks like Jesus, sounds like himself, and I would have no trouble identifying his voice. Opera is not my favorite genre, but it depends on the song/aria. This particular one is beautiful.
It's interesting that this aria has been performed by popular singers recently. Adam Lambert sang Nessun Dorma at the Queen + Adam Lambert shows in Bologna Italy and then again recently at The Harris Reed fashion show in London. He received wonderful praise from trained opera professionals. I think there may be better Italian pronunciation in this video but all of them are killing it. It shows that there are some really great trained vocal talent still out there. We are the lucky ones that get to enjoy the talent spanning different genres.
You should totally check out their group... I recommend you start with End of the Road (Boys2Men cover) because Rob, the more operatic singer, will blow your socks off with his performance.
Opera is complex and is hard to perform correctly, you definitely wouldn't expect country singers to perform Opera, but they did an amazing job! Like they transformed, no twang or anything.
For another side of these awesome guys from the acapella group Home Free, please check out "Butts Medley" and/or "End of the Road." True talent shines through no matter what genre artists perform in.
They're part of an awesome a cappella group Home Free..they are the only country vocal band, but can do just about anything. You're right, Rob has a degree in classical music and Austin also has a degree in musical theatre. For Rob's versatility check out their cover of Boyz2Men End of the Road and Austin excellently covers When a Man Loves a Woman.
To check out their country side, take a look at their group Home Free doing Man of Constant Sorrow. It's nice to see a reaction from somebody stepping way out of his comfot zone and giving credit to talent when he hears it.
If you would have been familiar with the Acapella group these guys are a part of, Home Free, the way the guy with the beard is singing is a complete shock to their fan base. His regular singing voice sounds Nothing like that! Check out Home Free. They do different genres, not just country, all top notch. They have one of the most impressive beatboxers in the business. Reactors who are musicians swear they're hearing a drum kit. Check out their Boyz2men cover End of the Road. When you hear the guy with the beard, Rob, you'll see what I mean about the shock!
You need to check out a Acapella group called Home Free these two guys are in it and they do all sounds their self. They do different kinds of music even R&B they have a video out where they cover the song End of the road, by boys to men. And another one is called,Man of constant sorrow. Both are great . But like I said they do a lot of different kinds of music.
To hear them sing country try A Man of Constant Sorrow. They are members of the country acapella group Home Free. They do not stick to country but cover all genre of music. They also did a cover of Boyz to Men, End Of The Road and Doobie Brothers, Listen to the Music.
This is Nessun Dorma (No One Sleeps) from the opera Turandot. Set in ancient China the character singing is waiting to answer questions posed by a princess who will execute him if he can’t answer them. If he does he gets to marry her. He loves her desperately so he willingly takes the chance. Oh, and Home Free can do anything.
Lesson to Home Free sing The Driver. Long hair is Austin Brown and the full beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist. They are part of the country group Home Free. Austin has a degree in Musical Theater and Rob a degree in Opera.
Subscribed ❤️ hope you do some Home Free. They were so nervous about what people would think and we think they did great. Great honest reaction ❤️ Home Free sings any genre of music
I'm seeing Man of Constant Sorrow recommended to you a lot. For some reason that one seems to be the introduction to Home Free for a majority of Home Fries (their fans), including me. Check that one out, the go to End of the Road to hear the absolute soul in Rob's voice. The Butts Remix and Country Fried Pop Medley show their funny side while keeping the singing on point. One of their latest videos, called Brother, tells a hilarious story while the singing is beautiful and the never miss a note. Another one I love is Moonshine. That's one of the twice-a-month videos they released during the quarantine, filmed in and around their 5 respective homes in 3 states. Quarantine was their first one. Jeeze, there are so many great videos by Home Free I can't name but a fraction. And that's not counting Austin's (and Tim's and Chance's) music apart from the group. I think this one was another way to stretch their wings, so to speak. Another great success!
As everyone has stated, Rob Lundquist (the Beard) and Austin Brown (long hair) sing low tenor and high tenor, respectfully, for the country a capella group Home Free. The other three members are: Tim Foust (long brown hair in older videos, now short with a grey streak) as super bass, Adam Chance (known as Chance, short brown hair & short beard) as baritone-bass, and Adam Rupp (light brown hair) as alien vocal percussionist. (Prior to May 2016, the baritone was Chris Rupp.) The HF rabbit hole is very deep and varied. Some of my (current) favorites: Brother, Brothers In Arms, When A Man Loves A Woman, Workin' For A Livin', How Great Thou Art, Folsom Prison Blues. Mayday is another, but it's highly recommended to wait until you know the singing roles of each man before listening. And for Christmas, Do You Hear What I Hear. Also, Austin singing Bring Him Home from Les Miserables.
Hi first time on your channel. Reason is because of these two men. They belong to an A Capella group called Home Free. You should really go and listen to them. They are considered country but do all genres of music. I highly recommend Man of Constant Sorrow for a first listen it's from the movie Brother Where Art Thou. Rob lundquist is the heavier gentleman who is a tenor, and Austin Brown is a high tenor, also in the group is Tim Foust their Bass , Adam Chance is Baritone/Bass, and the Beat boxer is Adam Rupp. They're 100% all vocal no instruments at all. Thanks for the great reaction!!!! 👍
If you're going to watch one of their country music covers, I suggest you watch their version of "Ring of Fire". For me, it is one of their epic country music covers. They are truly amazing!
I have no great affinity to opera, either, but I sang soprano for many years, and I appreciate the ability. They did pick one of the only arias I really like. The long-haired one is Austin Brown, and he is my very favorite singer in the business today. For a comparison, check out Home Free's cover of "End of the Road". The one you like, Rob, has had formal opera training; Austin only took musical theater.
React to Home Free "The Butts Remix". Home Free is an acapella group of 5 guy's, 2 of which you see here. They have a beat boxer who sounds like a drum kit among other amazing abilities. But to see the vast abilities and talent in the group, react to the one I've suggested here and you will be amazed at the sheer talent. Look forward to seeing your reaction.
By the way, I enjoyed your reaction and like so many other home fries that are commenting here, I wish you could have reacted to some of their other work first. Austin Brown and Tim Foust write some of their music but they do a lot of covers and when they do it's usually better than the original or at least a little different. Thanks again for doing this reaction. I really hope to see more Home Free reactions from you.
Rob the bearded one does a great End of The Road cover of boys 2 men. Check it out Rob sounds completely different. It's surprising how well Rob does Opera. Home Free does much more than country. check them out.
To me this is Austin's way of highlighting Rob's talent.
Rob is the one with the glasses and short hair…in this style he would be considered a dramatic tenor. Austin (with the long hair) has a higher voice and is a lyric tenor. Be still my heart! These two are so awesome! Love your reaction!

I am still speechless. I know they both have fantastic voices, but this knocks my socks off. Phenomenal!

Rob and Austin are members of the a capella group, Home Free. Home Free sings every genre, nothing if off limits. You should give them a listen. Thanks.
Oh, and btw... I literally laughed out loud at your subscribe interlude. My husband gave me the side eye. Great reaction. 👍
Home Free does all genres of music; R & B, blues, country, doowop, pop, rock. Look at the Butts Remix. Rob is the big guy.
Listen to Home Free's "Butts Remix" where Rob and Austin sing "The Thong Song"
🤣 yes 💯
Rob (the beard) is singing the dramatic tenor role and Austin was singing the lyrical tenor role.
you need to watch Home Free "Man of Constant Sorrow". You will see them doing country music. Rob is the one with glasses and Austin is the one with long hair.
Just subbed to join you on your new path down this Home Free road! You are going to be so very amazed! 💖
Truly amazing. Gave me chills and brings tears to my eyes. These guys are amazing. Rob and Austin absolutely killed this.💗💗💗💗
Pure talent x2!!💗💗
I agree with the suggestions below but to hear them sing Country try Take my Home
Country Roads.
This is an aria from the opera, Turnadot, written in 1924 by Giacomo Puccini....long hair gentlemen, his name is Austin Brown, the big guy is Rob Lundquist. Both sing in the country acapella vocal band called Home Free.
I so wish he'd been introduced to and had become familiar with Home Free before reacting to this.
If you've never heard their usual performances it'll be really hard to appreciate this. They are polar opposites!
♥️♥️
Rob with the dark beard, Austin with long hair
Oh man, I wish you'd already been familiar with Home Free before you saw this... you'd have been shocked because Rob (the big guy with the longer beard) has a sweet tenor pop voice. "NESSUN DORMA" is composed Giacomo Puccini from his opera Turandot and one of the best arias, not "PHANTOM OF THE OPERA"

Catch these two singing leads in End of the Road with their accapella band Home Free. Man of Constant Sorrow for more country feel.

It's worth a trip down the Home Free Rabbit hole! Consider End of The Road, Man of Constant Sorrow, & Ring of Fire the Home Free starter pack!

just to let you know both of the men are classically trained Rob is classically trained in opwea and austin in all genres of stage musically

Check out Home Free's "Butts Medley" - a soft intro to their country style :)

Or try "Country fried pop Medley" it's amazing!
To be fair, you need to listen to at least one home free cover song. Pick a song, any song.
I enjoyed your reaction. Please react to them singing End of the Road. These two are the lead in that one. Thank you.
New to the channel have you done anything from Home Free. At break I'll look at your Playlist

This is actually from Puccini….Turandot.
If you want to see and hear a totally different genre you might check out Home Free "Butts Medley".
These two are part of the mostly country a cappella band, Home Free. Recommend their Man Of Constant Sorrow.
Recommend Scott Hoying’s new video, Mars.
If you haven't heard Home Free sing The Butts Remix, you are missing something.
Darnell, would you give Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow a try? You won't regret it! I'll be watching 🙂
Dude...this is an aria from Puccini's opera Turandot.
Rob the bearded one does a great End of The Road cover of boys 2 men. Check it out Rob sounds completely different. It's surprising how well Rob does Opera. Home Free does much more than country. check them out.
Check out the Butts Remix from Home Free. They can sing any genre
You need to check out Austin's version of Bring Him Home.
and one more thing ROB is more suited to opera then Austin because of AUSTINS STRONG SOUTHERN ACCENT
Check out Home Free's How Great Thou Art and When A Man Loves A Woman to get an idea of their voices ... although neither country songs.
Then you need to hear Home Free sing the Butts Remix.
Compare Pavarotti's performance of Nessum Dorma.
Check out Home Free UA-cam channel for country music "End of the Road, When A Man Loves A Woman. Take your pick from the playlist.
Not Phantom. Turandot
