This Tiny House Is What Dreams Are Made Of

- This incredible, modern, fully-off-the-grid, DIY tiny house is the stuff that dreams are made of. Inspired by permaculture principles, this stunning tiny house is filled with the special kinds of features you only ever find in do-it-yourself builds.
Thomas and Caroline decided to build a tiny house as part of a plan to start a market garden business. To save money, they came up with the brilliant idea of finding land for their business and building a tiny house they could take onto the land with them. Despite not having any prior experience in construction, the couple tackled the build and just over a year later they are now living in their dream tiny house.
This tiny home is totally solar powered and even heats its own water using solar thermal tubes on the roof. The home collects rain-water and also has a clever under-deck rainwater harvesting system. Soon, the home will be surrounded by permaculture-inspired market gardens. This tiny home tour is definitely one you don't want to miss!
We hope you enjoy the full tour of this inspiring build.

This episode is a great example of why the DIY builds are often my favourites. When people build their own homes, they often include quirky and unique features which you seldom see in builder-model homes. Thomas and Caroline have constructed something very special here and we hope you enjoy the tour of their tiny house! With love, Bryce & Rasa
I was wondering what was in the building near the porch
This is so beautiful….so light & bright & the view to die for…. Excellent video as ever Bryce & Rasa. Keep safe & love to you both xxx
Beautiful house and beautiful couple. Love your program, Bryce.
BTW, is there any way to see more about Thomas and Caroline's house or build process? Do they have their own channel or something?
Do you and Rasa usually eat with the people whose homes you feature?
@@puppycat58 probably storage for tools, equipment, anything for repairs or small projects that all homeowners have and gardening supplies and even food for chickens and ducks, bedding for the chicken coop etc.
The production standards on this channel needs to be appreciated. The camera work, the music, the conversation, the personality of the owners, everything just shines through that you fall in love with the whole idea of tiny house living.
Yeah you put it right: one really falls in love with that idea. It sounds so dreamy
Yes Rasa’s filming and editing is perfect (for my disabilities) and Bryce not talking a million miles a minute is a refreshing change from a lot of UA-cam channels. Calm and peaceful and celebrating simplicity. Love it.
Very well said, completely agree!
I think it lacks music throughout
This is the best Tiny house channel I've found. I get fed up with sterile tours of house manufactured & not lived in! Thanks for another great presentation Bryce! 😀
This owner and his dad could easily be designing these homes for others. Just amazing!

Now that is a house i would love to live in. Everything about it is great; the simplicity, the colours, the outdoor shower, wooden countertops, a small farm, all of it!
Edit: and the extra room for the future, thats simply genius! I cant help but praise them haha
I agree - it's sooooooo nice!
That and the window seat is genious! Plus, the fact it's roomy they have everything they need, nothing really lacking and they still have room for a kennel.
These tiny homes have about the same living area, but people manage to come up with such interesting variations! I really like the office/child bedroom idea. And, of course, the dog's water cabinet!! Well done, Caroline and Thomas.
As one who built my own home, I really appreciate the sentiment and memories ingrained in this very beautiful home. Bryce, your channel remains my favorite source for tiny living inspiration - and since I am not alone in that, and you have such a huge following, I encourage you to devote some videos to the very important topics of material selections, insulation, moisture management and indoor air quality. These building science topics are important in all buildings, but none more so than in smaller homes. Folks who set out with the best of intentions for reducing their footprint can so easily sabotage themselves if they don't incorporate the correct building science strategies. It may not be rocket science, but it is critical science!
Very good point mate. My partner and I would love more knowledge on this too. We would love the knowledge of mitigating any critical errors.
Future episode ideas to add to your build series Bryce, which was very insightful. Potentially document a build with someone else?
Thanks for the awesome content!
Indoor air quality is so important. It kills so many people every year and gives so many people health issues

They should definitely start their own design company. Or offer courses on what they know. What an incredible home!
I love the drawer for the dog's food and water. This is a gorgeous home.
It was cool that they had those mesh screens on the big doorway and on at least one of the windows. I always wonder about folks in tiny homes without screens - wouldn’t insects or small animals be able to get in? That the screens were dark just made them another interesting design element. Loved this home!
I have always wondered that too!
It's partially cultural I think. We live in Germany and a lot of people don't have screens. It was the same when we visited Switzerland. I love screens!
I loved the screens too. In NZ hardly anyone uses them which drives me mad. 😂 In Australia is basically a necessity.
Congratulations to Carol and Thomas: this is one of the most amazing tiny houses of your channel!
Tout à fait . Simplement M'A GNI FI QUE .Bravo I'am jalous 😁
What a well thought out home. So warm and yet so practical. Rasa and Bryce, can you guys please do a follow up of this with the garden next time? Would love to see a fuller picture! 😄

@@alisonmassina3868 they all go into one pipe out of the house, then drop into a worm farm then a grease trap and then in a bath tub split in two stages with scoria and plants. The plant finalize the filtering and then it goes into the duck ponds. It is all gravity fed no need to pump at all. This type of ecophyto system as proved 99% efficient in removing pollutants and pathogens which is a better result than traditional chemical treatments used in city treatment plants. All this system is made with simple 40/50mm drain pipes and a few bits and bops, a hacksaw and some glue. Really easy to setup and with a good design and a bit of trial and error it works perfectly

I am so impressed with this build! This couple realized a common vision and brought to life in such a stunning way.I love the stories of the people you highlight each time. What a joyful and visionary couple. And their lunch looked scrumptious as well⭐️ Bravo.
Any tiny house that accommodates a separate office room is always a plus for me. Especially this one, the office room is quite big with a good window and I can see myself crafting and keeping all my craft supplies in there. More often than not, tiny houses are not ideal for crafters who need a dedicated room in order to live comfortably in them. This is one of the few. Thank you so much for the video, Bryce and Rasa.
Yeah. Artists in general may have a challenge. As a hobbyist musician I’d be curious where I’d put all my gear, but hey - sometimes less is more, right? I’m just not yet ready to make that move myself.

@@neemtreebark yeah, I saw them. But in winter or rainy season it's just impractical.
What no one might talk about it, how flawless the finishing touches are. This is absolutely well thought project and more than that their relationship and support of listening to each others' ideas and implementing it is what is making it more special.
That was the first time that one of your guests has spoken about a feeling of openness in their tiny house and I actually Felt it from here. And with the L shaped office/nursery it's one of the best designs yet. Well done Folks!

I have dreamt of owning/building a tiny home for years. But, I lost my legs and both of my hands 3 years ago. Now I'm wheelchair bound. I would love to see wheelchair accessible tiny houses. This house is beautiful.
Hey Cherry. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. We are always on the lookout for accessible tiny homes to feature. Have you seen this one? ua-cam.com/video/BlQ3yuUmBiw/v-deo.html
@@livingbig Thank you for the link. I have not seen this video yet. So, I am off to watch! And I truly appreciate your passion for the tiny house movement and your obvious dedication to sharing the dreams turned reality. Each video is inspiration fuel!
Thanks Cherry! I think there are some great ones that are accessible. Going through a serious tiny house building company you'll benefit from their design knowledge and material expertise. I wish you the best and hope you'll realize your dream as we did ours.
Hi Cherry,
I have a similar issue to you in that I’m disabled, I’m a wheelchair user and I have limited function in my upper body and chronic fatigue, and once you’ve accounted for wheelchair manoeuvring space, hoists, rails, storage for all the extra stuff I have to have, a standard tiny home is an impossible dream. I am sorry for your loss, btw. I don’t usually say that to other disabled people as there’s nothing wrong with being disabled, but when you acquire a disability, it is a huge adjustment and loss, yours more so than most, and it takes time and support to readjust to it.
A compact, well-designed home would be ideal for many disabled people as it would be far easier to have things within easy reach so there’s definitely a gap in the market people are missing there. If I spot any other accessible tiny house videos or similar, I’ll leave you a reply here.
I don’t know which country you’re in, but I’m in the UK and there was recently a two-part celebrity-fronted travelogue on tv on van life in the USA and how it is expanding to other places too. Presented by Su Perkins, she had her own hired van and went and met various people and their vans, some of which were definitely more like tiny homes and some were converted school buses. Her last stop was at a van-life festival where she met a young woman in her early twenties who had just finished converting a school bus so that she and her brother could go travelling without needing any other accommodation. This had been a dream for years but then her brother fell out of a hammock and broke his neck and is now paralysed. She used a school bus with a wheelchair lift already on it and had built everything around his access and his needs. The bathroom, for instance, closed at both sides, blocking the width of the bus, to give an accessible bathroom with shower chair etc. I wonder if they’re on Instagram?
If you can’t access the program and can’t find them, I can rewatch it to get their names if you’d like?
Good luck with your tiny house dreams. I think it’s doable.
And yes, this was one of my absolute favourite tiny houses featured: just so well done and thought out. Future-proofed (to an extent), airy feeling, easy to use…. better than most non-tiny houses! Really in awe of the excellent work. Congratulations.

Wonderful house! I loved the solar water heater and the fact that you planned for possible new family members, while having another purpose for that space right now.
This home is enviornment friendly, convenient and so aesthetically designed. The young couple have thought through the design aspect and the execution is absolutely refined. No wonder that they are so house proud. Best luck
It’s couples like this who come up with new and creative ways of integrating storage while also planning for their future needs as they expand their family down the road. I have always loved looking at house plans, making modifications to create a dream home if I could ever afford to build one. It’s something my husband and I used to enjoy doing together and it’s why I love watching videos of tiny houses and smaller homes because each person or couple can start with basically the same trailer dimensions and yet the home they create can look nothing like another’s layout and final results. It’s thrilling to see what each new build looks like and the hidden features. Thank you for sharing each person ‘s vision and the home that they have created together with the people who helped them build the home of their dreams. This is definitely one of my all time favorites. Congratulations to Thomas and Caroline and hopefully we will hear more about their permaculture gardens and market and they continue to build, create, grow and sell their products in the years to come.
