My HP440 G8 laptop is working perfectly and then randomly while I am in the middle of working the screen goes black and fans fire up to full speed, very loud. Please can someone tell me the likely cause? It's very annoying and happens every hour or so. I have updated every single driver which took some time to do and for a while this seemed to solve the problem but now it is back to doing the same thing again - black screen with loud fan noise. There is nothing in the event manager. Thank you for any help.
I think it's a BIOS issue. My fans start whirring up when I update my BIOS. BIOS can't control the fan speed when updating hence it leaves them at full speed. 1) In your case, you wrote that you updated all drivers that are available. So I'll assume that you also updated your firmware(BIOS) from Windows Update like normal. If not, I advise you to do that. You can also try reverting back to previous BIOS version (if updating the BIOS did not fix your problem) - The tutorial is generally given on UA-cam as a short video based on the manufacturer. 2) Fans whirring up is generally hinting towards overheating CPU/GPU. i recommend checking your temperatures via software like HWinfo. If any component reaches more than 90°C, it is overheating. This might be because of dried up thermal paste or dust build-up fan(latter part not likely your case, but still worth noting) If everything fails, take it to customer support and let them have a look at it. Hope it helps!
@@TesmiT. Thank you for your reply. Since updating the laptop to Windows 11 which was originally Windows 10, the problem has since gone away. It's been two weeks and everything has been fine. It must be something related with Windows 10 - perhaps the BIOS settings have been updated with Windows 11 and stops the problem happening. Thanks again for your reply.
i have Lenovo IdeaPad gaming3 , i did a wrong stupid thing ,i disabled intel gpu from advance bios, i saved and exit then the screen goes black, i tried to reset CMOS nothing happened, then i tried to open screen in external monitor not working, please help me it been 1 month until now.
I had this issue before and solved it by going to setting and turning off something along the lines of "quick start". You should look it up to learn more.
Oh mine too. The power button light turns on but the screen remains black. Nothing shows up. I've tried various shortcuts, tried pugging in and out the charger, nothing worked. Please help!

I bypassedthe screen to hdmi on TV and TV want pick it up does my other ones but not the black screen one that I'm trying to fix
