I became unemployed due to the lockdown and started learning piano and music theory through different channels and ended up here on your channel. Great to be inspired by your work as a starting pianist.
@fjf sjdnx is that book 20th century harmony as on 20th century music that sounds like you dropped a cat on an organ or is the book actually good at getting a reasonably pleseant sound?
This is becoming one of my favorite channels!
The Q.E.G agreed, it is fantastic.
Yep. It's really positive to watch and listen 2 and entertaining and invaluable. Quite refreshing by today's standards!
Mine too :)
Phoenix Rising m
Same same, I knew nothing about music, not even writing it, but still, I can't stop watching him. He's very fun to watch.
love your sense of humor while explaining the music of things,i find it to be very enjoyable guy
Great video. One more for your list, if I may:
When you don't know where to start, start anywhere.
This will lead you naturally to where you should have started in the first place, and time doesn't get away from you before you've even started.
That's what I used to do with rock songs. If write an eight, 12 or 16 bar thing and see how it worked with another one with no home to see if they worked as verses and choruses together.
"I want you firstly actually to admire the fact that this keyboard is nothing short of a public health emergency." LMAO
as his my typing keyboard ;)
Focusing more on details than the big picture has always been a really bad habit of mine, whether it's composing music or just going about daily life. It's nice to see it being pointed out, and shown why it is essential to use full patches to sketch your music instead of individual sections.
Thanks so much for this beautifully well crafted tutorial. You're a broadcast standard presenter on top of your composing and teaching skills! Love your cheerful energy, a breath of fresh air!
Awesome tips Guy, I really enjoy watching your videos! Thank you for sharing all the knowledge!
That was top notch. I can only imagine how much work that was to put together, but thanks!
The shape of that phrase at 12:20 is super cool looking, and sounding!
You are amazing! Love your personality and very good tips! Thanks!
So fun to watch. :D Thanks for the tips!

Great video! I can't believe I never knew about MIDI step recording. Also that little voice on your shoulder part was hilarious haha!
Thanks for the brilliant video! To me, starting a piece always seemed such huge of a step to take. This video gave me a lot of ideas to try out and maybe get stuff done a bit faster!!
Always amazing...creating music should be Fun...Thanks for sharing your energy!
Thank you so much that was fantastic! Much appreciated!
All these were spot on. Wasting time trying to fix a broken VST... guilty. Not anymore after this. And the step input? Thank you sir, for changing my life with this! I truly enjoy your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make them.

I know you get this a lot but I just wanted to say you're the best music teacher I've had. I've never been classically trained but I've watched a lot of people try to explain things to me and it has never stuck. But your energy is just perfect for getting me genuinely interested in everything you have to say. Thanks for everything you've done so far and I look forward to more! Cheers :)
This is very helpful. I really like your channel and you explain everything so well. I think what you're saying really helps to get rid of all the 'music writing' stereotypes and kinda gives you an insight to a different perspective. Thank you very much.

Recently, I became a ThinkSpace Education student and enrolled in almost every short course. This UA-cam channel provides important background material that every music producer can use. It supports any formal program, whether short course or degree, that students may be taking. Thank you, Guy, for engaging presentations.

*If this isn't your favourite Guy in the world, you aren't thinking straight.*
*straight up!*
A lot of wisdom here. Great channel. /henrik
This guy has amazing energy and enthusiasm not to mention talent
The takeaway I got from the first few minutes is simply not to worry too much about perfection at the start of a project. It's much easier to work with something to make it better than to come up with something amazing out of thin air. So your advice to resist the temptation to focus on details too soon resonates. Noticing that you have a composer's workstation, may I ask whether you ever sketch/draft anything on paper first? I can't decide whether the old-skool way is better for the sheer discipline of it or whether embracing the tech right from the beginning of a project just makes sense in terms of getting more stuff done. Anyway, thank you for sharing this informative and entertaining video.
YES!!!
Yes this is AMAZING.. thank you GUY!
you are awesome... I have been watching you for some time now and you are great. Can you do a tutorial on how to connect slave pc's to your set up and how to import Kontact Player into Vsl ensemble pro. I use vsl and love it but cannot get any other plugin into vsl ensemble. Thanks
AHAHAHAH.... on "DISTRACTION" I'm dead! Great video!
You're very fun to watch Guy, I can't stop watching your content 😍... Oh wait... DISTRACTIONS HAHAHAHAHA 😂😂... But seriously, I should really start practicing. 😅
Hi, Great videos, thanks!
What kind of computer specs do you have/soundcard.. I saw in this and few other videos of yours, that you use so big libraries (vsts) and the performance meter is shining on the bgnn of its scale
holy shit this is so hilarious and educational at the same time lol
Guy, only you could present a guide to productivity which features the quote "Am I going to waste time doing this? Yes I am!". This is the story of my musical life. I learn so much from your ultra-human presenting and am thoroughly entertained in the process.
Niceee tuto i love this man hehe
Dear load you made me jump I had a head set on.
This was amazing video thank you for doing this.
Still valid and useful after 4 years 🙌
