I'm an internal light user, too! Just makes it easier for me.

I agree. I've recently worked on a machine with many of my coworkers using the external. It was a GE and the way they have it set it makes the external easier, but I still go back and forth.

I prefer the outside light because it’s just more accurate and easy to see, especially with huge patients or bigger scanners.
    That’s just me

I'm not Caribbean. It might be because of wearing a mask and trying to talk. Haha. Thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you got some info from the video!

Why don't you use the phantom that came with your CT?

    • @RADKhammany

Great question, at the time it was the easiest thing to grab to demonstrate.
The phantom is not only fragile and heavy but it requires components to hold it. Having to exchange the holder back and forth while scanning in btwn... etc would require extra time. I don't want to delay patient care. The room gets flipped fairly quickly at a busy facility.

One more thing, what happens if you don’t center?
    1. You can use the larger field of view but it makes your images look smaller.
2 I have done CEUs that say if you are off center it messes up your AEC so there’s that.
Sometimes if you have patients with odd body habitus you just have to scan off center and that’s just how it is.

It's best to aim to be as close to the isocenter as much as possible. We want to hit that target.
If it's off center, this is correct... the AEC, Automatic Exposure Control, is not computing the mA that's necessary for an optimal scan. We also want to stay in the smallest scan field as much as possible bc of the tube and detail. Another reason is if the pt is off center then (for instance a large pt) one side can have more artifacts or gets clipped off.
