Amazing. Never followed a full match commentary like this before. Wonderful job mate, you and the chess community are the proof on how building up the stars can make an entire sport or even the smallest hobby blow up. 😃
Hans had Magnus on the ropes in the mid game and really resisted getting the Queens off the board, lol. But once you enter the end game against Magnus in a roughly even position, even if you are up 80 seconds to 20 in Blitz, you're in for a bad time, lol.
Makes one think if Hans didn't hate Magnus he might have held back for the draw after game 2. But instead he wanted to go in for the kill. Gotta respect that, made for a great series.
Crowd watching Magnus. This is why FIDE had to change its position cause sponsors would’ve walked away. FIDE must resign in disgrace thinking they are bigger than the GOAT
@@anomalousresult Preposterous. FIDE is not chess. Useless organization stealing everybody's time and money. Petty self important bureaucrats at best. As someone who just loves watching high level chess and sports in general, what an amazing game. Like in all sports that is truly what separates the great ones, their ability to rise to adversity and maintain mental control in the most clutch of times. Great commentary too btw, I like the unique style you bring.
Magnus wanting to share the Championship with Ian andis agreement after a few draws while both of them exhausted after tons of games prior was just beautiful❤
This was the best match of the Tournament. I wish this was the final match, rather than the farce of a final that we got. Happy New Year to Y'all. Great work EpicChess.
Hans really ran Magnus close. A bit more composure may have taken him over the line but he tried to push in even positions in those last two games even though playing for parity might have been the better idea (especially when up on time). Pity this couldn't have been the final since Magnus just crushing everyone else.
No it was never close. Only the opening which should give a white advanice. Hans is 2 levels under Magnus. But no chess player is even close to him. When he stop eveyrone will say he is the best ever and forget Fischer.
Yeah I'm sure Magnus' Rosa Parks for the Jeremy Clarkson generation moment this week is going to assure his place in history right alongside Fischer...

Such a good representation of the game. Even during your potential moves, your commentary gave the feeling on impending time hanging over everything in a powerful way. Kudos!
Epic, that was really nice flow; actually felt refreshing without too many visual jokes getting inserted, and I say that as someone who loves your memes! I guess the excitement of the game carried through (and you wanted to get the vid out quickly!)
Magnus's speed of thought coupled with his ability to see the best moves and formulate a winning plan with the speed of light is what sends him soaring above everybody. Capa could assess quickly. Fisher saw all tactics at a glance but only Magnus combines both abilities.

At best my chess level would be basic school boy but I got most of the concepts and explanations you went through , even if I had to pause and reply some bits … What ever your thoughts on Magnus, he is good for the game through the attention he has brought the game …l
I was all about Magnus’s réponse. But honestly I give a bunch of kudos to FIDEs response. I think all is well that ends well. Most importantly, it’s good for the whole community. Cheers to both parties.
Crazy how many times when Magnus saw 20+ moves ahead during the tournament just analyzing way behind on time. That 2 second game time gain every move was hilarious to watch when he hit sub 30 seconds😂

Why 27months? Carlsen already played Hans over the board this year either in Champion tour final or in Speed chess championship final (in Toronto?). Magnus won with big advantage then.
That was a seriously tense game. The commentary from Norwegian tv made it even more exciting. Thanks James.
I hope he enjoyed his Indian take away 15:50 😂

It was actually Magnus who blundered.Cause of the time pressure.
It's like he is bored until he gets to the end game then flips a switch
He didn't have Magnus "on the ropes", he had a slight advantage.
@@tonyb9735 Which is as "on the ropes" as you get with Magnus.

Have to respect Hans for coming at Magnus head-on, he's not scared, and the reaction from Magnus shows how difficult it was for him to win.
