    Love your street scene. It was wonderful and your painterly, loose style is wonderful. I haven’t started buildings yet but your video has inspired me to try. Just moved from landscape, seascape, to portraits. It was great to see you on another video painting with Andrew Tischler. You are both excellent artists. Thank you so much!

      Thank you so much. Yes Andrew and I are friends, in fact he mentored me many years ago. I'm hoping we'll be able to meet up sometime in the next few months. Andrew lives in the South Island and I live in the North Island!

    Sam, I was browsing your videos to pick a subject to paint along with you, and I couldn't believe it when I saw this scene. I had to move away from lovely Exeter last year, and I miss it so much. Thank you so so much for this, you have brought a lot of joy. Your painting is absolutely beautiful by the way :)

    A lovely painting and video Sam, unfortunately there was a devastating fire at the hotel in 2016 which gutted the hotel and it was later demolished so seeing you painting the scene of the hotel was a lovely reminder of a beautiful building so sadly missed

      Thanks Charlie. Yes I remember the fire as my brother lives in Exeter and he told me about it. It is very sad!

      Thanks Charles. Sorry about the shorts, but I like making them and they are a good way of reaching a new audience 😊

    Hi Sam, love your work and will definitely try my hand at the oils with a similar village scene from photos I took in UK too. Was sorry you didn't come to the Gold Coast recently as I certainly would have joined your painting group. Thank you so much for all you do, its wonderful.

      Thanks Jennifer, yeah it’s annoying I can’t make it to the Gold Coast, I would love to go there. We are staying in the Central Coast in NSW. We are here for another couple of weeks. I’m hoping to paint some Aussie themed paintings and I’ll make some videos on it 😊

    Hi Sam, absolutely love your work and your videos. Thanks for being so generous in sharing your painting process. You mentioned the Rosemary Tish dagger brushes, can I please ask which other of the Rosemary brushes do you use (there are sooooo many on their website that it's hard to know where to begin)? Thank you!!

      Thanks Natasha. I am most fond of using the bristle flats and filberts from their 'Classic' range

    I can hear quite an improvement in audio quality :) Cool painting btw.
    PS. somehow I do feel that the shadow of the tree could be a little bit longer.

      Thanks so much. I am away in Australia at the moment and I had to buy another microphone, so maybe it sounds better than the one I have at home.
      With regards to the tree, there are actually much bigger trees that are outside of the painting. Unfortunately the reference photo I used is on my other computer....which is in New Zealand so that is why it is not on the video. It is a summers day and I think I took the photo around midday so the tree shadows are smaller.
      Thanks for watching 😀

    another question for you Sam, I couldn't see clearly, but did you transfer your drawing onto the canvass, or did you just do it by eye? thanks again for your awesome work

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  Рік тому

      I sketched out the composition by eye, both the drawing and painting part. Everything was done free hand. Thanks for watching 😊
