@@Dirtboxoverland id prefer no music.. you'll always isolate someone no matter what music you choose.. it doesnt really add much to the vid but it also detracts from hearing how the engine is working and tyres are gripping on rocks etc.. All interesting stuff for people who are interested in the vehicle in detail. Otherwise Great videos . Loved you one showing the breakdown of the running gear strength etc.. Its the best of its type out there.
This was a fun comparison! Hopefully 74Weld jumps into the Grenadier Portal w/ CTIS game! Any noticeable common failure points on the Ineos off-road systems yet? Tie-rods, etc?
Pretty cool rigs , would love a G wagon to work on and the grenadier is really what lr should have done, been doing up my old defender for the last year
Why did you lift the rear / front by different heights (1.5 / 2.5)? A dislocating ARB would also be a good modification. Good update, but it would be great to have longer videos if you have the time.
Maybe it's just me. But I feel like this channel really being held back by poor videography. Please get shots of what the narrator is talking about. 2:20: Talks about the trailer hitch. -Doesn't show the hitch. 4:20: Talks about being able to see the similarities of the two vehicles. - Doesn't show the vehicles.
I have a similar G wagon, with upgraded drivetrain as well (605A with a 5 speed manual). Do you all sell modification parts? There are a number of things I want to do to my truck.
Manual transmission is not the answer. Automatic rules. Lower gearing in the Grenadier T-case is...Please work on that! Portals would be awesome and solve so many problems, so yes, please. Doesn't Carraro already make portals? My Red winch was just like yours. You could hardly pull it out in free-spool. For what we paid, that shouldn;t happen
Manuals are a nightmare. Lots of clutches, shock breakage and little control. In 1990 I drove this trail with a loaner Montero while mine was getting service and it had an Auto mine had a stick. Never owned a 4x4 stick again...yes, that trail specifically. Now if you want to know what happens when I got a street tire flat on the loaner up there which had no jack or lug wrench ....we can talk about that around a campfire some time To be fair I have never owned a winch that free spools well.
@@lloydswartz7354. You guys, the key is VERY low gearing in low range . Without this a manual is a no go. This is why I said a an automatic is like a poor man’s crawler box in the video. In a a sub 6000lb rig geared pretty low an auto works well enough, but when they get heavy especially in a Unimog sized rig, the automatics are not very effective in extreme situations. Just watch you tube non rock crawler rigs in kinda nasty boulder fields, stop and go throughout the corse losing their momentum at every 16 in or bigger hard object.
This is very simple the greandier has an petrol bmw engine and bmw produckts do not last ,and the lockers are an pain to operate the mercedes has an turbo diesel engine from mercedes that are one of the best engines in the world and the lockers are situatied on the dachbord with tree simple switches,
How cool would a Grenadier be on portals!!
Already available in Germany
@@10gimp39And offroading is forbidden in Germany. Its all show.
@@Coordinator61Not in offroadparks.
LeTech has put portals on a red Quartermaster. It looks fantastic
in 2025, made by Ineos
Two amazing rigs. Still the ‘83 G wagon is the coolest truck ever. Solid video Jay. 💯
Many thanks for the inspiration. Only criticism, not my type of music 😊
Agreed!
How about some Bruckner, Strauss, or Mahler instead. Heavy metal orchestral music 😉
@@ertatta Thank you for the feedback on the music guys! We' definitely hear you and will make sure to adjust on the next video. Great recommendations!
I think the music fits great with Wheeling

so awesome, thanks for putting this content together. Looking forward to seeing more!
Great trail to test these two offroaders!
On your grenadier with 2 1/2 inches of lift on the front how did you regain proper caster and pinion angle?👍
On my G even a 40mm lift reduces the castor angle to almost zero...
How did you fit the jerry cans to the l tracks of the Grenadier on the sides?
Great upload. Maybe lose the headbanger music. Sounds like a continuous train crash.
We hear ya, thank you for the feedback, we will make sure to adjust next time!
@@DirtboxoverlandI for one like the metal music.
INEOS announced they are already working on portals and will start offering them in 2025.

Great video
Yeah, that was a pretty tough trail especially the wall but really surprised how well the Ineos did (except for that lame winch! haha)
Independently of the genre. You can’t have that stressful music in between.
We appreciate the feedback! We'll keep that in mind for future videos.
Haha more metal🤘
I like the rotopax on the Grenadier doors; where’d you get the mounting plate or are you fabricating

It's the leveling kits from Eibach because for the factory setting, the rear is 2" taller.

We only build custom parts right now. It gets very pricey fast though since everything we do for the G is one off.

Lose the music
Great content but lose the music.
Awful choice of music and way too loud.
