I don’t think you should have to apologize for how you decide to pay off your debt. You’re not married, you live at home, and have no children. This is already smarter than what most people do!

For ease for your monthly bills try adding up the total you need to keep aside and transfer that into a separate account and have your bills paid from that account. No fear of taking it for anything else as you won’t be using it as your working account. 💕

I love the patterns too. For your "Mac Book" envelope and your "Spending" envelope, I noticed the designs are very similar. Where did you purchase this floral" design? I love this pattern. I looked for it at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, but didn't see it. I'm working on a project, and would love to know where you found this pattern.

I love envelope stuffing videos!!! Thank you for keeping the money the right way... now... you have got to clean up those envelopes!!! I couldn’t help but cringe with the bills going every which a way. I was taught that bills go the same direction and are always smallest to largest. It’s now ingrained. I got my laptop the same way you just got yours. 0% is amazing!!! I don’t blame you at all. Have a good trip to Disney.

I have a full time job, this is not youtube income. I make more than minimum wage but minimum wage in California is pretty high these days. I've been able to negotiate for raises every year that my experience in the workforce increases. You have to be providing value to the company you work for, and then if you're working for a good company they will compensate you well for doing so.

Thanks to my frugal spending I've been able to keep a good amount of money in my account this past year. I've always been cheap, almost to a fault, but growing up I either had the money myself or I missed out, now I just save for rainy days, and boy is it raining right now.
I've graduated uni this year, paid off my loans, but am still hopelessly unemployed. I've got bills to pay but thankfully still live with my mom so the big ones are not my responsibility yet. I love watching this because counting my money and knowing where it goes and where I want it to go gives me a relief I can't even explain. I hope something comes through on the job end soon though because it's increasingly upsetting to just be going through savings I'd hoped would go towards enjoying life.
I will say though, I created a digital version of this several months back and one thing that's helped a lot is also recording what you've spent, you avoid a lot of confusion with that lol

I need to stop so I have asked him about trying your envelope system. He did yes he would. We just need to figure out how to get started. Hopefully this weekend. I have been working 12 hour days all week. Also do the thrift haul video. Thanks

    • @korey1293
      @korey1293 6 років тому +5

Amy Hunter I was in the same position up until recently. My solution so far has been to organize bills a bit to at least make sure I know what’s going out and coming in to some extent.. and I know I need to be better with my spending, so we put x amount into a “spending money” account for me and I do the major spending for the household, groceries, gas, etc. the rest of the bills come out of a separate account and the rest goes into savings. So I’m managing “sinking funds” while my husband is managing bills. Not a bad idea for us, at least. I went from spending about $1500 a month on literally nothing (bought a house, had to fill it up 😆 ) to around $300, and I don’t feel like I’m missing out. Looking at a bank statement for me was one thing, but I physically wrote out every single dollar I spent and it was really eye opening to me on how much we don’t need. Good luck! 💕 and remember it’s a process :)

I liked this 2 videos saw for first time, bc is so close to my real budget! and I always thought since my budget is so small I could not budget!... really good ideas to take for me... also your kind of spendings are similar to mine except for the boyfriend plans lol but I will have no problem to use that money to hang by myself and go to the movies or whatever :) I'd like to have a friend like you close in my city so we could do this together and she would supervise my discipline :P keep doing what u do 👏🏼 I like realistic videos and real people hehe :) (And I loved the envelopes and the agenda also and the spotify and photoshop suscriptions since I had denied myself of those thinking I don't have a budget for it, but now I see I can) Greetings from Colombia South America :)

I then write all the denominations and put tallies next to them! I add it up and make sure it equals out then go to bank. I hope this helps.

For monthly payments I actually have a different bank account where my salary is transferred to and where the payments are made from. I never even touch it. If you don’t mind me asking, how do you work from home? I am a college student and would love to be able to work from home while going to school!

I got very lucky with my job. I work for an insurance company and we all work remotely. I do the same things I would do in an office, just from my own room lol all I really needed to get started was a laptop and a phone! I wish I had more helpful advice but I really did sort of just stumble upon this job. I didn't think I had an relevant experience (I have a medical background), but this company thought otherwise and loved my medical background! So I'd say apply to any position where you can work from home, even if you don't think your background is applicable. A lot of the time it's more applicable than you'd think!

I just started watching your videos, so I don't know if you've already addressed it, but I was wondering if you automatically put a certain amount into a savings account and therefore don't include it in your cash envelopes videos or if you just don't have an individual overall savings account

I totally get taking the money out so you dont accidentally spend it! I have one deposit that goes into my account every month that is in addition to my income and I called all of my bill companies and asked them to take their money out the same day! That way that deposit goes in and all my bills come out (other than mortgage) the same day. I also put my mortgage on accelerated bi weekly payments so I get paid on thursday and friday the mortgage comes out before the weekend when we start organizing/divying up the money. It took my a really long time to learn this lesson honestly and I always felt like i was moving money around everywhere to make it work when now its almost like i dont even think about how im going to pay the bill or omg when is this bill due again!? Its already dealt with.

How about switching out the smaller denomination notes from the big ticket saving envelopes with the 100s and 50s from spending money - to cut down the bulkiness?

This system confuses me. Wouldn’t it be safer to put it all in an account rather than carry around cash?
Edit: I watched your video where you explain the idea behind this. I think it’s pretty cool and does make sense but it also seems like a lot of trouble to take out the cash just to put it back in. But if it works for you then that’s awesome
