Make sure to buy your cork only directly from Portugal, don't get your mind stuck on just brown, you can have any colour you wish and even use cork leather as waterproof fabric for your seat cushions, it is durable and feels so soft and smooth, plus it's amazing to sew with, I use it to make bags ❤
I was a French major in college, spent a semester over in Besancon, France, and then became an elementary school teacher and basically forgot my French. A year or so ago, I signed up with Babel (after turning 80, no less) and am having quite the fun time seeing what I had forgotten and surprisingly what I still recalled. Good for y'all for being considerate of your new friends and speaking to them rather than them having to use a "foreign" language to respond. Good relations like that make your build a lot more fun for all.
In principle, electric drives are very simple and reliable. The motors and controllers are mechanically very simple, and batteries are also highly reliable now. So the issues may be integration problems. My favorite things about that boat is that they use coolant in contact with the hull for heating and cooling using a heat pump, and for cooling the generator. And of course the use of Aluminum and electric drive. Well done!
Vous me faites rêver MERCI
Whenever I build some small little thing it makes me very happy and content I cannot imagine the good feeling the designer must feel to have finished such an amazing boat with so many design features he should be very proud
WOW what a great shape bow, gives lots more deck space. I learnt Italian, but I haven't used it for ages, its almost gone. I need a holiday to Venice to get back learning. 👍👍
Oie. Temos gostado bastante. Tem andado frio mas fica tudo lindo com neve 🥰 o preço dos alimentos é incomparável com o do Brasil, frutas e verduras são bem caras por aqui. Boa semana 😊🤗
There's a lot of good ideas in that boat and very interesting real life data, such as the temperamental fusing of the motor controls. You've got a lot to think about Duca.
Love the safety features - duplicated systems, sealed compartments - and the head room below! Using the hull as a radiator is a great no thru-hulls solution. Electric boats have been around for 185 years; hopefully they'll figure out how to play well with Lithium batteries soon.
Thanks for this tour!!❤ Very nice boat and design. I see on their site they go scale it down when I am right so more people can afford it probably. For sure I would choose this design over a catamaran..sorry cat/triamaran lovers..no offense..also very nice boots too..😊🎉
That's great, you speak French well. In France, it's better because, even if there are more and more people who speak English, it's better to speak a little French for basic things. Very interesting video !👍❤
Je vais à Paris dans Feviere. J'ai appris Francais au Lycee. But I forgot most of it so trying to relearn it now. Bon chance with your french learning!
Portuguese is hard. We have some friends that speak English as their main language and they say it’s easier to understand Portuguese from Brazil 😊 for Spanish people as well 😁
Possibly the most interesting boat vod I have ever watched. Thank you. Such a knowledgeable guy and even has the beer sorted !!! Im just wondering about the sea keeping and the ability to point into the wind with this hull and rig, better or worse than 30drg ? Anyone
This guy is clearly of the Andre Citroen school of design... and hes just built a Citroen DS of a vessel.❤ 😂 Did you see the window in the forward lockers for checking the anchor haul. His problem is not the electric motors but the software parameters for the battery power management charging system🙄 .. 45kw motors are equivalent about 90hp but with more torque low down and would be almost silent apart from the prop shaft bearings. He had clearly thought the design through. Though i would have extended the bridge deck cockpit roof to carry more solar. 🤔 Still with the boat only 6months old he is still debugging the electronics that comes down to the battery pack design and trying to get different pieces of hardware and software talking to each other and not tripping the BMS. Newer battery chemistries being delivered now and also worked on now will be less sensitive to temperatures and charge or draw rates. They also promise greater capacity life spans and safety. Both Nio and BYD have swappable standard packs for automotive use .. and Blade cells are more space efficient, safe and serviceable than batteries made up of traditional round cells. The cost of the new types of cells should be less as they get away from the use of lithium and other rarer metals used to increase the performance and stability of Li cells. Na is cheap and incredibly stable available globally and generally less polluting in terms of mining and refining. For a really interesting insight look up Two bit Dvinchies latest video on Na Zn vanadium cells. 🤔😎. Walking on a metal deck would be awful with bare feet even wood like teak gets hot so insulating with cork above and again below decks through to the hull keel reduces noise and prevents energy loss through 🥶 or overheating🥵 . Two problems that will only get worse with time and travelling out of the temperate zones. 🌍✨🧙♂️🇬🇧
Waves on the ICW? I thought it was just a river... I'm confused now. hehehehe🤯 it is actually a wrap the drawings. I think Sunday should have a "Sunday vibe paint" on her. heheh 🥰
People put down electric propulsion but these control and regen issues will be solved and then it will be amazing. In addition, science will develop new battery tech that will rocket it into wide usage.
I was born and raised in Indonesia and in later life lived and worked in Indonesia again. Bahasa is the first language I ever spoke as a child. Nevertheless, I am of a Dutch-colonial family, so I speak Dutch. I had six years of German and eight years of French at school, so I speak French and German, too. Finally, I spent years working for newspapers and magazines in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand etc, so I speak English. That's five languages I am proficient in, but I dabbled in a few others as well, like Tagalog (I was married to a Filipina once, and used to spend a lot of time in Manila) and Spanish. I don't have many skills, but languages are kind of my thing.
We love Indonesia. Our goal with our next boat is to arrive in Bali, the place we were when we had the idea of creating the channel 💕 you do have some language skills hehe. Spanish is easier than French for us Brazilians 😊
So French, so unburdened with tradition and so unconventional! Wonderful design. A tiny thing I'd change: the edge on the hatches, that's a nasty injury waiting to happen at sea in bad weather. Some kinda foam or plastic edging would solve it.

Where can I source one of those MINI washers shown at 18:27? I've tried, and failed, to buy one for my boat several times. Are you two going to have one of them on your new boat?

Thats a lot of boat for 16 meters. Very well designed and a very humble designer. I like
It is nice to hear an unbiased review of the electric engine.
100% and it inspired confidence in his other solutions. Not his 1st rodeo as the saying goes
What an interesting design ... thanks so much for the tour

Truly awesome boat tour, please tell the designer/owner he is amazing. Love the whole concept, especially the galley.

Wow that boat was amazing plenty of great ideas
Wow is there anything this man hasn't thought of this is one he'll of a ship hopefully you can learn a lot from this skipper

for a 52' boat, it's like a ship below decks. Amazing.

There's still going to be a smaller through hulls for things like the watermaker, but yes, less with the cooling system attached to the hull.
Boa tarde Roberta & Duka.😊😊😊

very nice. when will you start building
We ordered the aluminium plates this week and it’s taking around a month or 2 to arrive. So, in a month or so 😊

We have one more boat tour tomorrow, then a really special “secret episode” and then we start working on the van! 🤩
Of course there is a washing machine ! This model is getting more popular.
