  • There's many differences between an early life FN2 and an FN2 near the end of production.
In this video, our good friend James Williams kindly brought along his 2007 FN2 for us to compare with Joey's 2011 FN2.
Both James and Joey drive each other's cars and compare the key differences between the two and especially noting whether it's worth spending a bit more to get the FN2 with the LSD (From late 2009 onwards).
A huge thanks to James for giving us a hand with his amazing cinematic skills and for bringing his car along to try!

I've come back to this vlog to say I've had the MFactory LSD fitted after watching this video.
And wow 🤩 it's amazing 👌🏻it's a must to every FN2 owner, the grip is unreal and you can floor it around corners without understeer.
It slingshots you out of the corners 🤣👍🏻
Now because I can take corners faster than before my rear bushes have shat them selves due to the high speed cornering 🙈 it's an 07 plate so past there best lol.
Well worth the money if you plan on keeping it which I will do forever.
I'm going to keep it going when it eventually becomes tax exempt and on classic insurance 🤣🤣 last of the naturally aspirated VTEC engines so it's got to be worth something in the future 😎✌🏻

It'll be quite difficult to get another vid done with this car in the future, but I (Joey) can at least tell you what it's like with the LSD in the wet.
With good tyres, the LSD works the same as it does in the dry when powering through corners. Obviously you can't go as fast as you normally would in the dry but it's still very much in effect - doing its job!

Okay I think I've seen it, have a look at the roof rust, if it looks minimal then that's fine but bear in mind you will need to get that fixed soon.
Also check the shocks (you should take a torch with you) to make sure there's no leaking on them and if there are, see if the garage will change it for you for sachs shocks or at least take about £300 off the price to accommodate for this.
Have him jack up the back the car and look at rear bean near where they meet the hubs of the rear wheels, older FN2s are prone to the rear beam snapping, causing the wheel sit unstable.
I have no idea what tyres those are even though he has said they're good tyres on the car 😬😅.
I can't see a mention of service history at all either...
I would honestly say from the pics it looks clean but for that price, you can get a nicer, well kept example from Facebook groups with more wanted and recommended mods!

That's a decent budget - these cars are really reliable so engine wise, you are good but make sure the service history is there and has been kept up to regularly!
These do suffer from boot leaks, usually in the hidden compartment section of the boot. So if it's rained recently, open the hidden section and feel out the carpet. If it feels damp then that's something to get checked as to where the leakage is, if not then it's all good or has already been treated!
Check the oil level of the car as the K20 engine loves to drink oil, so make sure it has enough in it. That's usually a tell tell sign if the owner has looked after the car or not.
If you find one from 2011 onwards within your budget - or a championship white FN2 (that has been well looked after) deffo go for that as it will have an LSD fitted from factory and that really does transform the handling of the car :)!
Also, make sure all suspension components are in good condition - check the shocks with a torch for oil stains on the shock absorbers.
Hopefully the above helps you find a a great one dude! 👍

@@jcscarculture5267 I have found a 2010 FN2 on Autotrader that does have factory LSD, 80K miles, folding mirrors and rear parking sensors for £7000 (no performance or cosmetic mods). And a few others over £7K. I think I will probably keep looking in to the new year. Thanks for the good tips.

@@jcscarculture5267 I’ve found a 2010 champ white fn2. It’s got 175000km on the clock and I think that’s a big on the higher side. It is 6600 pounds. What would ur opinion be on this?

I’m stuck between a mugen m200 and just a normal fn2, the mugen has 118k miles and is £8k, the normal one has 80k miles and is £5k... help 😢

    • @jcscarculture5267
      @jcscarculture5267  3 роки тому

This is quite a dilemma haha
First question - the normal FN2, what year is it? Is it a 10 plate onwards?
The M200 will always hold more value but the differences between that and a newer model FN2 are not as big as people think. Apart from the bumper styilings, exclusive colours and wheels and the fact there were only 200 made of these, you are still getting a face-lifted FN2. So, xenons, LSD and such.
For me, the M200 is a beautiful car and will hold its value over the normal FN2s (apart from CWs as they're a limited edition too) but if the maintenance history and the condition of it isn't good or even non-existent, then I'd probably walk away. Unless you can afford to throw money at it then it's worth buying 😂

Then as long as you have the finances available, go for the M200.
The LSD alone is more than enough to set the 2 apart in regards to the driving feel LET ALONE it being a limited edition!
