What is your favorite Annette era song?
7 Days to the Wolves, but there is only one recording of Anette performing it live and it's not good ua-cam.com/video/FN_qVzSLgKc/v-deo.html the studio version is way better. Honestly the version with Floor is so much better that she owns the song now, she absolutely channels the wolf ua-cam.com/video/XvsfwAPbWXc/v-deo.html
My favorites of the Anette era: The Poet and the Pendulum, Sahara, Song of Myself, Scaretale, The Escapist, Slow, Love, Slow, and The Heart Asks Pleasure First (a semi-cover).
Some people act like Floor has memory holed Anette but that's absurd. The albums will always exist and they are two of the very best in the Nightwish discog. 🔥🤘🔥
For me "Last Ride of the Day" is best Annette song. The studio version, live she sounds as good as Floor and Tarja and there is as a secret tip: "The Escapist" with Anette
First single from Dark Passion Play, the 6th album, and first with Anette.
One of Anette's best NW songs, IMO. She was also very good at the slower songs like "Slow Love Slow" (live at 2012 Montreux jazz festival), "Meadows of Heaven" and "The Crow, the Owl , and the Dove". She is the only one to ever sing "Bye Bye Beautiful", a song directed at Tarja, if you do that one go with the remastered live from 2008 Exit festival, the music video usually gets blocked in some countries, including the US.
Yes, the villagers see her as a fallen angel, a fallen angel is often viewed as evil.
Btw, NEW Nightwish song , "Perfume of the Timeless" will drop on Tuesday (May 21).
Awesome. I'll add those to the list. I'll keep that live version in mind. So far I feel like live videos might be a better way to go. I did see they were dropping a new song on the 21st. If I have time, I'll try to get a reaction of it
Tuomas wrote the song so it could mean just about anything!🤘🎸The video is based on a famous Finnish painting Wounded Angel by Hugo Simburg.🤘🎸
Oh so it can be interpreted in many different ways. That's good to know. I've never heard of that painting before. I did just look it up. I can see what they were going for
There's a painting, "The Wounded Angel", by Finnish painter Hugo Simberg, that inspired the song: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wounded_Angel
The angel in the painting is holding a bundle of snowdrops, which I think connects to the "Tears of snow-white sorrow" phrase.
Wow. That's some painting. They did a great job with the video telling of it
Anette is indeed awesome. She is unfairly compared to Floor in live performances but this cannot diminish Anette's talent and her huge contributions to Nightwish. Two of the best Nightwish albums have Anette on lead vocal, Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum. Best Anette live songs with Nightwish would probably be Scaretale and Slow Love Slow. She also was part of The Dark Element and has 3 solo albums ('Rapture' is her new one from this year). 🔥🤘🔥
Wow that's awesome. I might start going back and forth between each singer to get a more rounded picture of Nightwish
