The way the movie made the introduction of Kenjiro while Drew was training with his dad was more like:"His presence poisons the air " is like "Öh hi son, I didn't saw you there, please come join us", as a father, you need to keep both children focused on the training so that both become good citizens :)

This is why Kenjiro joined Yakuza and the fact that Drew received the family sword made Kenjiro even more angry towards his father and step brother.
American Samurai was very brutal and bloody film but I liked it. The 90's were so great. I miss that time. David Bradley was superb and Mark did a great job.
