  • Here is my new W1 washing machine that Miele sent me in exchange for my previous model that developed a fault with the TwinDos system. In this video I show what comes with the machine before starting the calibration wash. I then wash a load of cotton garments in the machine. Hello dear friend. Not to complain but I believe Miele is not as reliable as it used to be. In Italy so many people are having different kind of problems, also with the twindos. Miele's do have a lot programs and functions but my cheap 199 euros Indesit is 7 years old and has never seen a technician. I hate my Indesit cause I can't do much with such terrible programming, it only has 800 rpm, it's very loud...but it still works. And it gets used at least twice at day. Some people are asked 900 euros to replace the twindos system here in Italy. Too much. All spare parts of Miele's are too expensive. There is no reason to buy a Miele if they don't give reliability as they used to. Have a good day my friend ❤️

Passa a Miele !🎉

Very interesting. I have heard of the TwinDos system a few years ago. I worked in a hotel, laundry and housekeeping, for about 10 years. Its interesting how similar it is to a profession washing maching. Very conveniet as well.

I love Miele but I think I’d skip one with the TwinDos system because I think the simpler the better in certain cases.
Anyway I’m very happy that everything worked out so well for you Roger. That’s one reason to buy from Miele in itself. They’re excellent at customer service.

I agree! I opted for the W1 base without the TwinDos system (because I like to use different detergents for detergent loads). I have had it two years now and I love it, probably more than any washer I’ve ever owned.

I miss my Miele washer. Not huge like American machines, but the quality is obvious, it washed very well and the twindos was convenient, though expensive and hard to obtain in the US. Nice kitchen.

I have the washer dryer version and love it. Had it for 5yrs so far and no issues until a couple of days ago, after the wash cycle finished it displayed “cartridge 1 nearly empty”. The cartridge has only been in for a month at most, they usually last 2-3 months and wondered if it had leaked out

Hi Roger, glad your new Miele arrived. I would suggest you don't use the Twindos anymore with the new Miele washer, when it comes and here is why:
I also have a Miele WCR860 and I love it so much but I also have had the same problem with Twindos Ultraphase 1 leaking. Even though it didn't rust anything, I hated the mess that it made under the washer with the blue liquid and I also had to sand the metal base plate (which had some discolouration, but thanks god no corrosion) of the washer myself just for the piece of mind (cause the Miele technician said i didn't need to worry about it, but i cleaned it anyway as good as I could). The leakage has happened to me three times and the third one was such a big mess with blue sticky washing detergent residue overall. The technician cleaned the Twindos opening because as he said the new cartridges had a production problem (which even after two years is not addressed; small strings of white plastic (from the heat process of fitting the aluminium cap) remain in the part that goes in and these small pieces with time cause the tiny rubber gasket to wear and cause the leakage. Before Miele had the orange caps in Twindos and the technician said these didn't have any problem at all with leakage but with the new ones with aluminium it is a disaster he said. They are always changing machines damaged by Twindos leaking. In your case it was the Twindos Ultraphase 2 that leaked, which is Hydrogen peroxide and it corroded the metal base plate and created rust. That is why you have brown residue underneath. So that you know as crazy as it sounds Miele twindos is not sealed as it should in my opinion, because the only part that seals the liquid is 2 tiny rubber gaskets and it one wears down from friction when you put the cartridge in and out than you will have the same story again form the beginning. The reason why the Miele technician changed you the machine is because the metal baseplate is completely corroded and Miele cannot restore it in any way(it's one part with the rest of the machine).
Sorry if I have written too much but I wanted you to know this, so that you don't go through this again. The machine is brilliant, cleans to perfection and I adore it, but the Twindos system is not constructed as it should.
I know that you have a lot of Twindos Detergent that you have already bought, but please 🙏🏻 just sell it in ebay and don't use it with the new machine.
You have helped me with your videos to buy a Miele C3 and a Sebo Felix which I absolutely love and I felt kind of obligated to inform you about this problem with Twindos, which is kind of a well kept secret of Miele.
Have a nice day and I hope you enjoy the new Miele Washer. 🤗

I chose this machine mainly for the TwinDos feature and as I have a load of detergent, I will continue to use it and flush out the system every three months as recommended by the Miele technician. If it fails within the guarantee period again I will hopefully get another replacement. When the guarantee runs out I will probably buy a different make if the washer fails.

Unbelievable that they still haven’t fixed the spring ticking design flaw on these W1’s. Listen to 20:10 and 26:18 where the springs are hitting the metal casing of the machine!!
We can only hope this is resolved in the W2 series. This happens with all W1’s, even the passion. They used to secure the springs better in previous models so this noise wouldn’t occur.

Did you get any tips from Miele to avoid problemes in the future? Any points that needs to be considered for a long lasting work time with Twin Dos? Did they made any improvements on the system in the past? Glad to hear from you some time :)

I love the distribution/spin rinses, it’s something I would love to see more off especially in low water rinses. I however wouldn’t own a front loader unless it did deeper rinses or had options to have high water level rinses.
On the machine itself the glass door shape and detergent draw is similar to my 1999 novotronic.
I wouldn’t personally own a current Miele but they are still good machines just don’t think it’s worth the price. I think the performance on other cheaper brands are good if not better but I’m saying that based on my 1999 Miele that doesn’t wow me with the performance compared to our main top loader machine we use (Australian household), but saying that the current Miele’s have high ratings on our consumer reviews for cleaning compared to the more classic models 10 years ago. For the current front loader market I favour Haier, Electrolux and Bosch made machines.

Great video! I’ve had Miele products since 2005, but had a terrible experience with a Miele fridge freezer which lasted only 1 year and took Miele 6 weeks to replace!
Which brand would you buy next if you replace this machine? I like the look of the Siemens iq700 series.

Personally I would probably buy another AEG but I’m hoping to get many years from this Miele that replaced a faulty machine after just over a year. If this Miele goes wrong in the next five years, I won’t buy another Miele washing machine. Miele fridge freezers are manufactured by Liebherr and a friend of mine also had an issue with his Fridge freezer.

I separate 5 different washes: Coloured 60 (bedsheets, towels, rags, underpants), Coloured 30 (t-shirts, trousers, blouses, shirts etc.), Whites 60 or 90 (bedsheets, towels, rags, underpants), Whites 40 (mainly white or light coloured t-shirts and dress shirts) and finally Woollens/Delicates. Doing it this way, my whites remain perfectly white for many years and my coloureds don't fade much, yet still get a good wash when they need to (i.e underpants)

Sounds like a brushless motor? Like my new Hisense, which is beautifully quiet, and clean! No carbon dust, which is like soot, which covers the inside of the machine. My old Candy had a brushed universal motor, which was reliable, but noisy and dirty.
