As soon as you started it up in the car park at the start of the video I could hear ticking/knocking from the engine... It's very noticable! Can't believe you didn't notice it, a healthy bike does not do that. I would have turned it off straight away!
Yes and no! Hard to say! I own a tuono v4 2013 for six years and this bike when the engine is warm and you stop it for like 5-20min after you start up again the valve clicking like crazy until the oil pressure upload the head! Its very strange but aprilia say its normal! Not sure but never had a problem with my engine and i put 35 000km on it! But the electronic is a nightmare! Thats a other thing 😂
i have not enjoy my aprilia since I got it , it is been more at the dealer than in my hands. had it for 10 moths I only be able to ride only 1000 miles, about to get a different bike as soon as i get my rs660 back. nice looking bike but is not worthy to pay for something I am not able to ride. back to Japanese bike.
@@oscarmerlos2189 You know, that's not the first time I've heard this. And it being Aprilia/Italian it takes so long to get it back. That is why Yamaha is my personal favorite. Those things really are bulletproof. I hope you get back on the road soon man 🤙
how did u not nitice the rod knock? if u dont change your oil. respect the brake in period and rev it while its cold its gonna blow. especially when its an italian. u should buy a kawasaki 650 ninja since that would fit ur riding style without blowing up. im considering getting a tuono 660 factory. and treating it so it wont blow
I honestly don't know. I rented the bike for a few days when I was out of town and haven't talked to the rental guys since. The next time I'm I LA I'll ask them for sure
Hmmm... Stop restarting the bike after you the hear the engine get toasted. Dont roll the bike on a highway in traffick call your insurence company who will send help. Other than that god luck with your bike.
Gut das wir dieses Geräusch hören da Aprilia öfter Probleme hat mit den Motoren! ich dachte meine ist auch Broke habe aber gesehen es sind Schrauben die fehlen in der Verkleidung. regards from germany hehe

@@Skyhest I wouldnt let an isolated instance on the internet put you off. Myself and one of my main riding buddies both have 660's and we havent had a hint of bother. Great bikes. One of my other riding buddies has an R7 and we swap bikes a bit. I find the R7 engine boring in comparison, lacks the character of the Italian engine and also its too sporty in the riding position. I'm not biased towards Italian machinery, I've got a SV650 as well. That's my experience so far anyways, glad I bought one.
In line 3’s guess being asymmetric setup, the metallurgy plays a vital role for the engine to be able to handle stress. Unlike parallel twins v twins and V4s, balancing inline 3 inertial rotation can be tricky. It definitely sounded like something snapped! Hopefully the recall fixed it without extra costs. I feel you mate. It must have spoiled perfectly good ride. Good thing you are safe and home. Ride another day! You were having so much fun!
The Aprilia 660 is a parallel twin with a crossplane crankshaft. It is based on the RSV4 engine. Most of the online 3 offerings such as those from Yamaha and Triumph have proven quite reliable.
@@mala7794 I’ve owned three Aprilia RSV4s, one was a race bike. The two I had on the street blew up before 6,000 miles. My race bike had all SORTS of valve issues.
I could hear the ticking from the beginning of the video. It was ticking badly and you kept your foot on it like a champ 😜😜😜
😂😂😂 I had my music blasting that day 🤦♂smh
"Oh this bike sounds good..." This was an educational video. thanks!
Haha

It’s a rental bike, so he doesn’t care.
Welcome to Aprilia. We Aprilia owners are used to it. Still it’s a fun bike. And the 18 is one of the best canyons
hahaha I believe it! I did love that bike

How many miles did the bike have on it?
Man, like 4k lol
The second part of the video reminds me of kayaking downstream.

Hey, what's wrong with the engine?
rod knock. mistreated bike, probably not serviced and revved whle cold. all bikes are reliable as long as u treat them right
Shit looks like good fun 😂 my dumb ass would’ve still tried to drag some knee goin down hill
this isnt confidence inspiring

Ya it was a 21'. I had one of the recall motors unfortunately lol

bad noise since engine start up
That's why im so afraid of buying rs660. I think it would be a lot smarter to take cbr650r or r7, even tho rs660 might be the most fun :(
r7 way to go
The RS660 is no doubt more fun.
I wish the rs 660 was made by honda. Would buy in an instant

Bro I’m in the same boat, but I still just like the RS660 more than the CBR, plus the Aprilia has the cruise control 🤷🏻♂️

Aprilia is an awful brand. This motorcycle is a piece of garbage.
