    I don’t it was the compactor’s fault as much as the loader operator and the crane operator. The crane operator should have been paying better attention to how much wet heavy garbage he was smashing into the trailer.

      That’s a great point. It would be great if they had an axel scale in the tunnel why they are loading so they would never accidentally overload the trailer. Thanks for watching!

      Yeah, that's their only option. Since the tailgate of both compactors had to be opened by hand, it doesn't seem possible to dump in the hole, especially seeing as garbage falls out as soon as the tailgate is opened. It isn't possible to open the tailgate at the hole either, seeing as it's a "no walking area" as painted on the wall.

    Where I worked we used traffic lights, the boom along with radios to let the loaders know when to switch sides or stop loading. Green light meant load either side. Yellow light meant whatever side you were loading was full. Red light meant the second side was done and the truck didn't need any more. If you turned the light back to yellow it meant you needed more and what ever side you had the boom in you loaded some more in the other side and stop once the light goes red again. If you needed just a touch then we would use the radio and let the loading know what side to push just a little more.

      @@railsandsignals9261 No I run a C/D landfill Im the one and only operator we have a brick road brick staging area and dirt tipping face, people are too stupid to read the signs and they dump on the brick road even when there is 4 or 5 people dumping on the tipping face , roofing and demo debris on the bricks means nails everywhere that people have to drive over, even if you push everything off the bricks you are losing the road or leaving nails and crap behind crushed bricks trap nails real bad but if I push them off then we don't have a road I only get bricks once or twice a year, small landfill max we have ever had was 250 loads a day for about 3 months after the tornado , normal business is like 30-50 loads a day so the county dont like to spend money for road materials so yeah it really pisses me off when people mess up the road because I have to drive on that crap everyday

    I’ve noticed that some trucks dump right in the trailer/pit but others dump on the ground in front of it. Does the person manning the scale tell them which way to do it, or is it a driver discretion thing?

    • @railsandsignals9261
      @railsandsignals9261 3 місяці тому

      I'd assume it's based on what truck they're driving. For trucks where you have to open the tailgate by hand (like the compactors seen in this video), they have to tip it onto the floor because the pit is a no walking zone (as indicated on the wall). Most other trucks can dump directly in the pit, but it seems like the garbage from the rolloffs is blocking the Waste Management truck from doing so.

    • @railsandsignals9261
      @railsandsignals9261 3 місяці тому

      It depends on whether the tailgate has to be opened by hand or if it can be done from within the cab. In the former case, they dump it on the ground. In the latter cases, they dump it in the pit (unless it's blocked by garbage, as seen with the Waste Management truck)

      Dropped off a load of dewatered sludge at my local landfill one day. As I’m dumping, refuse truck next to me dumps his load, and out comes a 6000 watt champion generator. I jump out, look it over, and put my rolloff bin on the ground to load it up. I come back to my yard, have my mechanic look it over, and the only thing that was wrong with it was it was missing both wheels and the frame was bent on one side. 2 wheels and some hammering later, we got a fully functional generator.
