I’m with you Elle I don’t care who uses the same baby names as me! I’m not the first person to use my babies name and I certainly won’t be the last. I won’t gatekeep a name but that’s just me!!
my grandmother's name is dafni (spelled the original way, not transliterated) and ive always wanted to name my child after her so im getting nervous at how popular it is getting!! it truly is very pretty.
I feel like you may have picked Arthur!? :) Congratulations again Elle! Been following your entire journey and am so proud and happy for you. I'm also pregnant with my second (second girl!) as well and due in early Summer. Wishing you all the blessings :)
I just have to say I love that I used to watch your videos back when I was in college. Now here we are, naming babies! My husband and I have a baby named Peyton and I’ve been working on my list for baby #2. Best of luck with your pregnancy and delivery! 💖
It would bother me if it was a very close friend. If it was just like a friend in one of our friend groups or someone I don't see super often, it wouldn't bother me. Just like if it's a cousin's child it wouldn't bother me. But it would if it was a sibling's child.
At least she's honest and says what she means, that's the type of friend I would like to have a round. Imagine she said it didnt bither her but it secretly did, you would feel awful if you ever found out.
Hi Elle! I love hearing about baby names. My baby boy's name is Sutton and it took so long for us to decide on it. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and picking out a name. ❤
Ahhh so happy to see another video from you! I have loved your videos since 2012! Your videos are always amazing! You are truly one of the most unproblematic creators out there! ❤️ So happy you are having another baby! Congrats Elle! Can’t wait to see what his name is!
Hey that’s my name!! :) As far as the association with Princess Di, that’s actually been helpful. For some reason, people had the hardest time getting my name right when I was growing up. I got Diane a lot, which… it’s just not my name. I like the a the end. Also, I got called Deanna for a while by one friend who had known a Deanna in high school and couldn’t get his brain to switch. So when people would get it wrong I’d say, “like Princess Diana,” and that usually did the trick.
I'm with you as well. My sister named their second baby she miscarried Eden, which has always been one of my favorite names. When she told me that's what they named their baby, I was only 6 weeks pregnant, so I'm with you- I wouldn't feel right about using the same name as a loved one, especially considering the circumstances.
I’m a couple weeks ahead of you and I instantly knew as soon as it was a boy during the ultra sound that we would name our boy Phillip Victor. I couldn’t imagine him being called anything else.
I wanted Halston for my middle boy (Halston is a very luxe fashion brand, he’s dressed the best!) but his dad wasn’t on board. We went with Hudson for other reasons and I still love both names so much!!! I tried again with my youngest son 🤣
My nephew is called Wesley and I think it’s super cute but he is bright ginger and I fear that he’s so going to be nicknamed Weasley as he grows 🤦♀️ I hope he owns it and dresses up as Ron Weasley every Halloween 😂
You said it! I remember when my son was born it felt so strange that we got to just decide his name and start calling him that 😆 it felt SO strange for a while!
I’m pregnant and due in May! I’m naming her Faye! My sons name is Rory which is very Irish so I thought it was a crazy coincidence how you mentioned your relative named Faye was Irish!
My cousin's baby is named Bennett, but for their daughter. I had never heard that name for either sex. Alice is one of my favorite girl names ever, but i could never use it because my husband's cousin would lose it if we used it since she named her daughter Alice.
I’m pregnant with my 2nd and if it’s a boy I may have to use Theodore!! We have a girl name but I find boy names to be SO hard! We had the hardest time naming our little boy.
I named my son Darien. Some people wondered if I got it from Sailormoon(Tuxedo mask) but I just thought it was a strong name. We called him Deedee as a cute nickname. I also have a daughter, we named her Brynleigh.
I can’t imagine being so rude to say to a friend that you don’t want them sharing the name of their child. It’s really not a big deal unless you can’t learn to share😅 If anything it’s such a compliment that they want the same name!
Meh, I would be annoyed and would never pick a name that anyone at all close to us had chosen first. I think Elle is exactly right to ask. Some people are not at all bothered, some are a lot.
@@lieska333 Yes she was very polite to ask. Friends come and go and she may not even see them that often so if it’s a name they loved then I don’t see the problem.
Halston is pretty hard to pronounce for non-native English speakers too. I think it's something to think about when picking a baby name because most people are bound to travel and maybe even live abroad, and it's such a pain when people can't pronounce your name easily or at all.
Boy names are so hard for me and my hubs! It took us until like 37 weeks pregnant to decide on Garrett for my 1st son. And now at 19 weeks with 2nd son we might have a name? But it may change? Ezra. Our oldest child is a daughter named Avery. And her name was so easy like basically before she was conceived we knew her name. Solidarity to all the parents riding the name struggle bus!!
I love Beaumont! I have two names that my family keeps squashing down when i bring them up and I ALWAYS bring up just to see if they've changed their minds and they don't budge. Winifred & Kaliope. I have put Kaliope to bed but idc about Winifred I love it so much I will use it, everyone will have to live with it.
Idk I think it’s weird that people feel they own a name like I couldn’t tell someone they can’t name their child the same name as my child there is no such thing as a name that no one else has unless you just completely make it up and maybe even then someone else in the world probably did the same
If you like how Louis is pronounced in Europe, you could spell it Louie (but I also agree that it kind of doesn’t age with the baby), but still super cute!
This is like the 3rd time I’ve heard someone say they love the name Wesley from Princess Bride and I’m like…but his name is Westley 🤦🏻♀️ I know it sounds the same but it’s not 😂 super cute though.
It definitely would depend on the situation for me. If it was a name of a child of mine that passed away then I wouldn't like it if someone close to me used it but otherwise I am fine with people using the same name. My top baby names for girls are: Lydia, (Runner up for next baby) Alison, Myfinwey and Addison
I have no kids and no plan to have any but I’m still watching 😂😂 I have a golden doodle named Louis and it’s the best puppy name! Congratulations Elle lots of love from Canada 🇨🇦
We grew up with with a guy with the last name Campbell and to be honest with you I had to think really, really hard about what his first name actually was because everyone just called him soup. And I personally love the girl names Isla and Esmé
I was thinking the same thing lol! She definitely had a pug and had to rehome it, I just don’t remember if the name was actually Lucy or something different
I love older girl names as well, my daughters are Elizabeth (Ellie) and Amelia (Mia). My mom’s name was Elizabeth and she has sisters named Diana, Annette, and Julie. I guess I'm not the only one in the family who likes older girl names. 🤍
My daughters name is Amelia too. We call her Meli because her great grandmother on husband side was Amelia and she went by Meli. My hubby was very attached to his grandma. And it fit her perfectly.
Omg! Ophelia is my fave girl name and what I want to name my future daughter. I’m so thrilled you had it on your list. Unfortunately my bf hates it because of a funny yet disturbing and inappropriate reason I won’t relay on here lol. I actually love O names for some reason. Like Odette is another one. And I like O in names, like Poppy. Used to love Charlotte but it’s just too popular for my liking.
I just know my game plan will be only discussed with my husband. Everyone else any their options can shove it (: As far as people using the name, I feel like it all depends on what the child interation would be. If they are going to be together, then that's a hard no. if they'd never be together then do whatever.
I absolutely LOVED the name Theodore for my last child. My husband hated it. I tried to convince him that Theo or Teddy for a little boy would be adorable. But he didn’t budge. So we named him Benjamin after my grandfather and call him Benny or Benji for a nickname. My niece is named Lucy! We have two boys also Wyatt and Dawson. If we ever have a third his name will be Brooks. Halston is definitely a unisex name, we had it on our girls list though with Sawyer, Ashton and Emerson (we like more androgynous names for girls apparently lol)
As a Canadian, I agree with the Louis problems for Americans. The French pronunciation is definitely better (I am definitely biased!) We spell the American pronunciation Lewis up here.
No where near being ready for kids yet, but I’ve had baby names picked for forever and keep adding to the list when I come across new names I love😂 Does anyone else do this or am I getting way ahead of myself lol.
I live in So Cal & always pass thru Beaumont to get to Palm Springs and the city is just not the greatest, so for me the association is too strong but I like the flow of the name & maybe for someone else!
As the youngest of 4 I kind of resent the idea that the *favorite* names are used first and subsequent kids get the leftovers 😂 I know what you’re trying to say but I think each time around there are unique choices.
How did you decide on the more common names for your boys? I swear I don't mean that any type of way, I just truly thought your names would be a little more uncommon or literature-y, ya know? Like the ones in this video! Is there history behind their names? I just love names and am so curious! 💖
I have two favourite boy names currently. My number one is Alfred. There was a comic series I lived as a kid where the main character was called Alfred J. Quack and I’ve loved the name ever since. The two meanings I could find are “king of the elves” and “peace everywhere”. Also, I love the nickname Freddie. You mentioned that you consider the middle name Scott, after your father. Alfred Scott Goot sounds great, I think. The only downside could be that James and Alfred together could sound too much like two butler names in several movies. I still love the combo though! Another name I love is Gustav. It works well with my real last name, cause it also starts with a G. I’m English the nickname Gus is also cute. But since I’m from Germany I would then only use the long version. Gustav Goot sounds badass, I think! :D I’m excited to get to know your pick soon. All the best from Berlin
We hadn't named her - we didn't know she was a girl until after she passed and it was too hard at the time. We probably should name her, but she is just "baby girl" right now.
I definitely think you gotta stop discussing the names with everyone else and just care whether you and Alex love it. We aren’t discussing names at all for this baby (baby #4), and with our others we told them the name and that was that. They had/have a chance to name their own kids lol. Our oldest is Oliver and I literally had never met an Oliver before him. Even the nurses mentioned they never heard it. Now it’s sooo popular lol.
I’m confused about the 1 syllable thing.. james is one syllable.. I don’t mean this harshly I’m just curious if you decided after you gave james a one syllable that you didn’t love how it was flowing
I was almost Emily but my mom liked Mallory a bit more which I'm really glad for because although Emily is beautiful it's so not me haha Love the boy names the best but Ophelia is gorgeous!

Beaumont is adorable!! I'm sad no one liked it. I also really love how much you honor your friends by asking them about names.
I love that name!
Beaumont is the name of the local hospital where I live
I don't think it should matter what your friend's name their kids... It's your child so you should be able to name them whatever you want
I’m with you Elle I don’t care who uses the same baby names as me! I’m not the first person to use my babies name and I certainly won’t be the last. I won’t gatekeep a name but that’s just me!!
It had been a while since you last posted (I think..) and I was starting to get nervous. So glad you popped up in my subscriptions and all is well

Same! I kept checking here and her insta bc she was MIA. So happy she posted.
I’m so worried

I never understood why people gatekeep names lol. Just cuz you named your kid something doesn’t mean you own that name LOL
Been a bit worried about you; glad to see you're ok
was about to write this, haha. Really glad to see her as well
Lmao I can’t believe your friend was like “it would bother me” savage
It would bother me if it was a very close friend. If it was just like a friend in one of our friend groups or someone I don't see super often, it wouldn't bother me. Just like if it's a cousin's child it wouldn't bother me. But it would if it was a sibling's child.
I assume it's Andrea. With her family story, she's probably somewhat protective
At least she's honest and says what she means, that's the type of friend I would like to have a round. Imagine she said it didnt bither her but it secretly did, you would feel awful if you ever found out.

welcome back! I have you missed you. You have been making me nervous. You are in my thoughts. Sending you good vibes.
The dark blue looks beautiful on you! Hunter is cool, I like that one
Yes I'm so excited for new content! I missed you. Glad to see you are doing OK. Rooting for you all the way from Mexico.
So fun you’re considering unique names for baby # 2☺️ All great..thanks for sharing!
I’m a couple weeks ahead of you and I instantly knew as soon as it was a boy during the ultra sound that we would name our boy Phillip Victor. I couldn’t imagine him being called anything else.
I just realised I hadn’t seen any uploads from you and was going to DM and check if your all good and saw this upload it didn’t notify me!!
If you ever get a family dog, I think Beaumont would be a great name!

Isn't it a strange concept that someone else names us and we are stuck with it our whole lives?
You said it! I remember when my son was born it felt so strange that we got to just decide his name and start calling him that 😆 it felt SO strange for a while!
My son is Beau … we love it :) we had another baby boy 3 weeks ago and he still isn’t named 🤦🏻♀️ boy names are hard!
I love Beaumont! I have a friend who just had a baby boy yesterday named Beau.
I’m pregnant and due in May! I’m naming her Faye! My sons name is Rory which is very Irish so I thought it was a crazy coincidence how you mentioned your relative named Faye was Irish!
A little bit different, but I grew up with 2 Alston boys at my school! Same vibes and it’s a great name to grow into!
Lucy is on my list forever because of Queen Lucy of Narnia. I laughed out loud when you said the Pug. 😂
My cousin's baby is named Bennett, but for their daughter. I had never heard that name for either sex. Alice is one of my favorite girl names ever, but i could never use it because my husband's cousin would lose it if we used it since she named her daughter Alice.

I am a teacher and I have heard of all of these names. Some names of my students I really like this year is Kohl and Ares.
Charlotte, Alice and Diane/Diana ( the Greek version of it is Artemis, which I also like) are my favourites. I have a sister called Emily too.
Oh my gosh, Halston is so beautiful! I would say use it!!! Such a unique and pretty name
If you like how Louis is pronounced in Europe, you could spell it Louie (but I also agree that it kind of doesn’t age with the baby), but still super cute!
In the Princess Bride the pirates name is actually Westley with a T. Love it 🥰

Beaumont is strikingly cool! Also, I loved your girls list, so sweet!
I swear Blair had a pug named Lucy…like forever ago…or did I imagine that?
I think Elle has told that story before
I was thinking the same thing lol! She definitely had a pug and had to rehome it, I just don’t remember if the name was actually Lucy or something different
I would never be able to use Kira because of Death Note 😂 Glad you are doing well!
I’m pretty sure the most famous Halston is definitely a male designer 🤣
I still remember the name Lady Bow from the last video and it kind of stuck with me. I somehow really love that! But your names here are beautiful too
I am SO EXCITED to watch this
I like Halston for a boy! I don’t see it as a girl name! You should use it!!
@@Cakebaker07 That’s so sweet!
My nephew is named Bennett, such a sweet name for a sweet baby!! Can’t wait to hear what name you pick for your boy!
Wesley would work so badly with the local accents here haha. It'd be weZley and I'd cringe lol
Omg! Ophelia is my fave girl name and what I want to name my future daughter. I’m so thrilled you had it on your list. Anyone from the Michigan area and couldn’t help but think of the Beaumont hospital when she talked about the name Beaumont?
Lol staying away from one syllable names - aka james (my sons name too. So love that name!)

However, when Ben was 2 or 3 months old, my husband had the audacity to tell me that he sees the appeal of the name Theodore now. He actually suggested that we change his middle name to Theodore. If looks could kill at that moment, he wouldn’t of survived. Lol
Happy to see your face! Lots of great name choices
I have a cousin Wesley and it’s one my husband and I considered for our son. The reason we didn’t use it was we didn’t want to take my cousin’s name 🙈
Hi Elle! I think Halston is a unisex name 😊
I really liked the names Archer and Hunter! Which is funny 🤣🤣
I also love old names (and Harry Potter and Star Wars), which is why we named our son Harrison, nicknamed Harry
How surreal! I can hardly believe you are already in the third trimester!!!
I fell in love with the name Halston as soon as it came out your mouth 😭 but I agree with Blair, it sounds like a girl name!

Hear me out! How about the names Holden or Allistar for a boy? I feel like they really fit your vibe!
Would you be willing to share what you named your baby girl that was with you for just a couple weeks?
We hadn't named her - we didn't know she was a girl until after she passed and it was too hard at the time. We probably should name her, but she is just "baby girl" right now.

Strange! Oliver is popular now but Oliver Twist is classic
Omg I love Halston! It’s on my list for a girl name but there is a UA-cam couple who named their boy Halston, it’s def gender neutral!
Such unique names on your list awesome video 💐
I’m confused about the 1 syllable thing.. james is one syllable.. I don’t mean this harshly I’m just curious if you decided after you gave james a one syllable that you didn’t love how it was flowing
I’m sure we’ll find out when he arrives but I’m curious if any boy names from your FIRST list made the cut for this baby!
The first video list? Sebastian, Elliot, and Colton were heavily considered from last list, but his name is not on the list :)
@@ElleFowler yes, that list! I can’t wait to hear what you guys ended up with, all your names are so cute!!
My dad’s name is Louis. People do get confused about whether to say Louie or Louis. He just goes by Lou now
My baby boy is 1 now, but names I loved but didn’t use were
Bendrik, Weston, Roland and Maverick,
Where did you get the candle holder behind you? Gorgeous!
I was almost Emily but my mom liked Mallory a bit more which I'm really glad for because although Emily is beautiful it's so not me haha
Love the boy names the best but Ophelia is gorgeous!
I have 2 sons my older is Levi and younger is Leo. When I was picking Leo’s name I had a couple other names I loved…Lawson and Lexus!
I can’t help but giggle at “hunter goot”
Also Lucy-goot could easily get made fun of and be loosey goose and you can’t do that so Lucy can’t be a choice
Beaumont is a hospital here in Michigan lol 😂, also agree I would never name a girl Halston definitely sounds like a boy name.
