Church is absolutely more than just a building but I do think there is something incredibly important about being a part of and investing in Christian community. I'm glad you guys have a bible study and people of faith around you. There is so much I have learned about who God is through conversations with people from different walks of life at my church (especially at bible study). i worry that not looking for or investing in some kind of Christian community means that you miss out on that; that you experience God only within your perspective (or sharing that with your spouse). And yes I have read in books and heard in sermons and podcasts that the way to build a personal relationship with GOd is to get alone and get quite (which I love, what an incredibly counter-cultural encouragement in our world today!!) BUT there is so much about who Jesus is that can only be experienced by living out that Love in other people's lives and having them pour God's love back into you. I don't make it to church every Sunday, but I try to, so that I can help take care of the kids, or greet people as they arrive, or help with the powerpoint for worship, to be the hands and feet of God's Love and worship with His children. Thank you for creating a place for conversations like this and for using your platform to talk about Love and Grace!!

They allow us to surround ourselves with like minded people and grow in the word and be encouraged!!! Nothing like an amazing worship session at church! I love Alexa's dissemination of our societies view of church. It is really hard to find a home church. Your church family is so important and finding the right one can take a really long time.

I get aggravation from family for not going to a church and I stopped going because I found that there were so many people who were going and then bad mouthing other people in the congregation behind there backs and it was just extremely discouraging and disheartening for me to witness that over and over, so I just started staying home, watching sermons and reading scripture on my own, working on my personal relationship with God. You are very correct in what you said, the people are the church not the building and you can absolutely have your own church of you and your spouse or like minded friends, even people online like this. Thank you for never failing to put a smile on my face 😊❤️ I was going through a pretty rough patch when I found your Vlogs, I'd just lost my cousin in a motorcycle crash almost four years after I lost another cousin the same way and I was really questioning why, why did God do this to my family again, why did God feel he had to take from my family again especially at such young ages (19 & 20) but then I really started thinking about his purpose and the new Vicar said that in his sermon as we spread the ashes that they had been called home, that their rooms were ready for them and that God was ready for them to be home and I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, I knew that God was looking after them for us and they were waiting for us to join them and it really helped me. Your Vlogs are so relatable to everyone and I just wanted to really say thank you for opening my eyes to the amazing God. God bless.

Hope you feel better Alexa! Sounds like sinus issues! I get them every year around this time too with the changing seasons! Maybe try a nice bath , warm shower to clear up the sinuses or using the Nettie pot? Definitely worth looking into and totally safe for Ocean!

I loved the words of wisdom! My fiancé and I are 25 & have so many of the same struggles that y'all talk about. We live in Charlotte & are currently searching for our "home" church that we can one day raise our family in. It's so hard visiting different churches right now, but I know that God has a place for us where we and our future kids will have a church family and home there. Another thing, we are totally feeling losses when it comes to friendships as well & feeling alone in that area of life. We are praying so desperately for the Lord to send us life long Christian friends who are real & that we can experience life and grow with. Just good people that share similar goals & beliefs with us. Y'all are such a blessing! Thanks for all you do!
With everything im going through i feel like i need god in my life. Its hard when the number one woman in your life thats always been there for you doesnt want to accept your significant other because of his race. i really do love this guy... it makes me upset that she wont understand how happy he makes me feel... i fall into a endless pit of depression over thinking this whole situation. i feel lost and dont know where to turn to now..

I agree with u Alexa 100%, but going to church shows your faith, and determination to connect with the people Jesus died for. it's like being married and not ever going home. Showing Gods love and connecting with His people is what we're called to do, and sowing into a church that makes a difference in your community is huge. I can't imagine how hard it must be trying to find a church in Los Angeles though. I support what ya'll are doing completely. Praying you'll find the right church to raise your family in. 🙌🏻💜
I agree completely. I am a pastors kid, however I go to school in Alabama I am from Missouri tho. My dad always say make sure your going to church. Sometimes I don't go to church on Sundays just because, but I feel this guilt. I can say it is not the same. You can read the bible pray watch sermons all you want, but you need to be fed with the word of God. I agree you can have church anywhere, but you still need the word of God spoken to you. I've realized that being away from home and in college.
Or maybe do whatever you want and worship God in anyway you want to. You don't have to go to church to love God or "be a good Christian"..... Worship the way you want.

I'm a pastor's kid and I totally agree with what Alexa said about church! Church is not just 4 walls. Church can happen anywhere, at anytime of the day. Many people come to church and dont have a relationship with God, but they think that that's all they need for salvation and they judge others because they dont attend church, but sometimes those people who dont attend church have a better relationship with God! Don't get me wrong I think attending church is great! I love going to church, but to me it doesn't describe your spiritual life & relationship with God, like Alexa said, at the end of it all is only about your relationship with God.
Alexa's description about church is on point. Wish more people could understand that God will not love you more or less if you do/don't go to church on Sundays. This is why God created some many different types of worship.
Totally agree. Church is not about the building its about the relationships. God intended it for community and encouraging each other. That's why we love to go! We took a break when having babies lol but God is always good and knows our hearts!
When i started watching dancing with the stars and you guys were on I started following ur instagrams and if puns your vlog channel and over time it has made its own time slot in my daily routine. I loved the words of wisdom! Going to church on Sunday is really important to me, but i think it's so special that whenever believers are gathered together and speaking the Word, whether it's over a cup of coffee or while you're doing yard work, that that is the church in action.
Thank you for being so real in these vlogs. I strive everyday to be Christlike, but I have that old man nature. I get frustrated, I get cranky, and I say stupid things. When I see other people, sometimes they seem so perfect and good, that I feel like I must not be doing that well as a Christian. You guys are awesome and have such a heart for God, and it makes me feel better that you do get frustrated when the AC guy doesn't come on time but also that you don't flip out over it. I know I'm rambling, but I really wanted to tell you how much you bless me.

A building is a building, but the church is the people! Don't try to please everyone, because it is impossible. Work on your relationship with God and spread his love so that you can teach others about Him! Some go to church every Sunday, but never fully experience what God has to offer them or apply what they learn. Those are the people that tend to comment on church attendance. Praying for you all!

Great words of wisdom. It is very true. I used to be one of those people that only went to church on Sunday and that was my extent of my relationship to God. But once I started reading my bible more often and started listening more to Christian music that I saw my relationship with God begin to grow. Here's the verse that Alexa shared: “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”” Matthew 18:20 NLT

I've been struggling with my church lately, My small group leader left and I've felt very out of place. Lately I've felt bad because I haven't gone and I feel like I'm falling away from God by not going so thank you guys for your wise words, it makes me feel so much better that I can have my own church at home with my bible and some friends
Wow!! Your words of wisdom are always so amazing. Amen!! My Sunday school group (that meets before church service starts) usually end up missing the actual service because we end up sitting around drinking coffee and talking about the Lord and life...and to me that's church. It doesn't have to be sitting in a pew. People complain that we're not actually going to "church" but church is the body of Christ being united. We get so caught up in the religious routines that we forget it's about our relationship with Christ. Do what encourages you, whether that's going to church or listening to sermons. All God wants is to spend time with you. No matter when or where, I don't think He really cares.
I'm not really that religious but I would like to ask for prayers for someone else... My town has experienced a lot of loss in the last 4 months. 2 teens at the age of 17 & 18 passed away due to car accidents. Recently in the last week one of our beloved baseball coaches passed away due to a heart attack at 45 years old..
4 months ago today my senior prom date passed away. He was the most loved person ever, he was hilarious and genuinely cared about others well being. He loved to make people laugh, he helped those in need and in his memory we created the saying "Be an Andrew". Our community, mostly teens, came together the night of his passing to hold a vigil in his honor. A lovely woman spoke saying "If you see someone who needs someone, be an Andrew. If you see someone sitting alone at lunch in need of a friend, be an Andrew. If you see someone struggling, someone who just needs someone to be there for them, be an Andrew". RIP Andrew.
About a month later another beloved student passed away from one of our 3 high schools here. He was outgoing and friendly and so spirited and loved. They held yet another vigil at the baseball field of the school for this amazing young man. Many spoke to honor him. RIP JT
About a week ago the coach of many young baseball players passed away at our 3rd high school. He was a teacher, a coach, and a friend. He had a love for the game and made such an impact on so many young lives. A 3rd vigil was held at the last high school baseball field in honor of coach. RIP Coach Castillo.
So what I'm asking is, please pray for the families of the 3 beautiful angels. As they are struggling in these hard times. It's astounding to see how many people have been touched by the lives of these 3 men. I'm asking for a prayer for their families to have some peace at night while they're missing the one they love. It has been a hard year for our community, but I'm hoping that the prayers will help put them at ease.

I have a huge prayer request from everyone,
I work at a nursing home and one of the residents who has been there for years is not doing good, she is put on hospice and was told by doctors that she only has a few days or even a week. This lady is one of the most kind hearted, loving, and is just such a beautiful soul. She definitely knows how to brighten someone's day. She is very special to all of us at work and actually even more special to me. So please if anyone can say a prayer for her, it'll mean the world.

Oh my gosh! That words of wisdom! My entire family really need that! My mom suffers from multiple chronic illnesses that prevent her from leaving her bed, my dad get blinding, sometimes literally, migraines if he gets even a split second whiff of lavender, a very common ingredient in a lot of perfumes that elderly women in my area wear, and because of these thing my family never makes it to church. I often hear my mom almost in tears because she feels like a horrible mother and example, which is crazy, and I just know in my heart that this will help her! So Thank You from the bottom of my heart and the depths of my soul!
I have a question I've been really confused about like all my life. Really I just want to know what y'alls opinion is on the LGBT community. Growing up in a Christian family I was always taught that it was wrong, didn't exactly know why until recently I listened to a sermon over it and it cleared up a lot of my confusion, but still it's a really confusing topic for me, I'm not in the LGBT community but I've always been curious about where I should stand or what to support if this long paragraph makes any sense lol. All I know is though I may not support one thing, I should still love on them and never be hateful because God still loves you even through all the sin no matter what it may be
Personally, I believe very strongly in equality and that everyone should have the same rights as anyone else - regardless of gender, race etc. I think that there's NOTHING wrong with 2 people showing love and happiness and the world (especially at the moment) could really do with some more of it. I was unsure too until I learnt that my uncle is gay and my sister came out. They are 2 of the most amazing people I know and I couldn't dream of a world that didn't let them be happy. I think my God wouldn't make them gay if he didn't think it was ok, and he made them gay to teach the world that not everyone is the same and that's OK!!! And to embrace our differences because they make us better, more well rounded people!!! I refuse to believe in a God that would punish somebody just for being happy and in love.
+Katie Price as a Christian myself, I am told to love the sinner hate the sin. I don't personally think it's right because God is all about marriage and family (children) and Same sex couples cannot produce so it's not right. The devil is ruining what the term traditional family means. Even scientists state that LGBT people are not born that way and that it is a mental health condition like depression, anxiety, schizophrenia etc. I have LGBT friends and I don't hate them though. People say Christians are homophobic, we aren't all that. I still love my friends even though we don't agree with the same things. Once my close friend who was lesbian told me she knew she was going to hell, I asked her why, she said because she knows being lesbian is wrong, I told her she could change that. Some people know it's wrong deep down others choose to except it because God 'made them that way'. Just study the word of God. Watch testimonies of ex Gays, lesbians etc it will help u understand! Love ❤️
I know that you are probably a good person and you mean well, but I could not disagree with you more. I have seen my sister sobbing because of all the hate she gets from horrible people selling her that she is wrong and horrible for simply being herself. She has told me multiple times that she wishes she wasn't gay because closed-minded people make her life so hard, but she can't because that's who she is. Also, I believe that as long as you are a good person and you love others/the world, you will go to heaven.God would not have made them that was if he wanted them to spend their lives tormenting themselves trying to 'change' who they truly are. I think in this modern world, there is no such thing as 'traditional marriage'. People have mums, dads, step-parents, foster parents, single parents etc and i believe that all that matters is love. If a couple is infertile, should they not get married since they can not reproduce? Some people don't want children, should they not get married? I don't think anything you say will change my mind. +Katie Price the thing is no matter how good you are it doesn't mean you're going straight to heaven. Everyone is born a sinner ever since the first fall of Adam and Eve. We all do bad against Gods word and will for us that we think we know better than God himself. That's what's wrong with humans, we believe we can succeed on our own with our good deeds that we know we will go straight to heaven without anything else. That basically means that Jesus's death was nothing then for us all! Jesus died for a price, so we can be closer to God again and know what true salvation is. We are in the world but we should not be apart of it. The world is wicked, God isn't. Yes, most people believe marriage isn't important anymore but that's why there are so many people hurting since they are blind from the truth. If you have a good relationship with God it will help you in marriage. Most people give up, that's also why it fails. Have people also forgotten about the true deceiver, Satan?

I don't usually comment but I do have a prayer request. I'm a 15 year old young carer for my Dad who has Motor Neurone Disease (ALS) and I'm in the process of organising a big charity event to raise money and awareness. This is the first time I've stepped out of my comfort zone and said I'm going to do this regardless of whether or not it's difficult or people tell me I'm too young to achieve what I want to achieve. Truthfully as sad as it is, my Dad is dying and I want to raise money and help people to understand more about the disease. I have been sexually assaulted and I was bullied for 7 years leaving me with confidence and mental health issues. By the Grace of God I got through some tough things. I'd be really grateful if you could pray that I find the strength through Jesus Christ, to enable me to be courageous, to not fear the future, and to raise money and awareness of this awful disease that claims so many lives. Thank you❤️
Also, I love you guys. It's great to have role models like you two because it's inspiring and helps people to feel closer to God through your words and wisdom and how you live your lives. May God bless you ❤️

Wow just came across this channel. Loved this vlog!! You guys are inspiring so many. Loved the words of wisdom part. I totally agree. I'm a pastors daughter of 21 years and it's hard not to be judged if I miss church here and there for whatever reason. But sometimes my time with God at home is even more special because I'm so vulnerable and can just talk to him like a friend and read my devotions!! I defiantly subscribed to y'all. Can't wait to see the rest of the videos. :)

I love your vlogs and respect you guys soooo soo much but I just wanted to clarify because as a teenager I know that there are lots of other young people who hate going to church and might have watched this and been like "wow they're right! I'm not going to go to church anymore" because as disciples of Christ we are expected to go to Mass EVERY Sunday. Of course if there's something that is truly preventing you from not going, that's fine because God is Just, but the real reason we go to Mass is to receive the body and blood of Christ (not the "bread or whatever") As it says in the bible we have to receive it in order to live eternally. And to pass up on a gift like that would just be crazy!!! You guys should look up a Catholic Church near by and give it a try and actually receive His true presence :)

Yes, I go to church almost every day and every Sunday . I am not forced , but I feel the need . For this song also in the choir and I often read during mass. It is very nice honor God and worship him

I usually just go to church for midnight mass every year for Christmas eve. I get really bad social anxiety. But even though I don't really attend church it doesn't change my relationship with God. I talk to him everyday & pray everyday & I love the words of wisdom at the end of your videos!

I feel really relieved when you said that church is more than just the building. My grandma always says that I'm not a real Christian because I don't go to church in my hometown. For me I was so frustrated that I stopped praying and believing (of course she said more than just that that made me stop). I always imagined living a christian life like you guys do and now I'm back reading the bible and praying and not listen to the "advices" others give. So thank you for being honest and helping me find my way back!

Your words of wisdom seem to never fail me lately. I've always felt like going to church was a little bit more of a chore than something I enjoyed because I had trouble connecting the teachings to my own life when I was younger. In addition to that my priest who I grew up with left my church when I was was about to be confirmed and his replacement sadly is extremely boring. He's a lovely and kind man but when he speaks sometimes I feel like it's so monotone that I could fall asleep. I've never wanted my church experience to be me dying for it to be over because that's not what it's about. I definitely found it more comfortable and helpful for me to just pray on my own and discuss with friends and family on the topics instead of the traditional church setting.
I'm in the middle of search for a job so I could really use all the prayers and well wishes from you guys!! I hope everyone is well! :)

I've always felt bad for not going to church and when I became a god mother I felt obligated to go to church every Sunday ,but since I started watching yalls vlogs the Words of Wisdom that ya'll say, are so inspiring and then to actually hear that church is considered two or more people its very mind blowing to me because I grew up with that mind set that you can't have a relationship with god if you don't go to curch, Earlier today I was on facebook and as I was scrolling through the feed there was a picture that said "God, I don't know where you are taking me today, but I trust you" and that's exactly how I feel everyday

Your guy's blogs are amazing! Ive been watching for some time now. This is my first comment, but wanted to comment because when you said you guy's haven't found a home church yet it made me want to leave a comment. I just had to tell you that it took me months to find a home church and wanted to tell you that the Praise Chapel denominations are awesome. They have so many different locations. I used to go to praise chapel redondo beach which is now crossroads, but now I am attending praise chapel orange county. The pastors are all great and they are very welcoming :)

I love how you described church Alexa! my family and I don't currently go to a church because, like you said, finding a home church is difficult. but it in NO way diminishes our love and relationships with God! it's awesome to have such positivity and love to watch for a half hour of my day.
